Denham Springs is a city in Livingston Parish, Louisiana, United States, and part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area. The 2010 census placed the population at 10,215.
Downtown Denham Springs has transformed itself from hardware stores, drug stores, doctors' offices, and a single movie theater, into a collection of various and varied forms of antique dealers. The downtown area is now called the Denham Springs Antique Village. The city of Gladewater, Texas, has made a similar transformation.
Denham Springs has a Mardi Gras Parade held two Saturdays before Mardi Gras. It hosts the Springfest on the last Saturday in April.
Denham Springs is the largest area of commercial and residential development in Livingston Parish. As of the 2010 census, Denham Springs and Walker are the only parish municipalities classified as cities.
The area has been known as Amite Springs, Hill's Springs, and Denham Springs.
The original land claims of John Noblet and Alexander Hogue form what is now the older section of Denham Springs, including the first residential and business districts. In 1828, William Denham, a Wilkinson County, Mississippi, native, married Mercy Hogue, the daughter of Alexander Hogue; and three months he later purchased the 640 acres (2.6 km2) originally claimed by his father-in-law. Denham purchased the land and a slave for $1,350.

Shared by Jade Shaffer: "So tonight, I experienced first hand how truly ugly people are. Of course I see the news everyday and I'm far from naive but tonight we went to a "newer" bar in Denham Springs because E.J. Vincent wanted to play pool. He instantly told me he felt uncomfortable but I dismissed it. We met a nice younger couple and started playing doubles on the pool table. Towards the end of our game, I noticed an older lady come up and talk to the couple who we were playing pool with and all I could overhear was "...the rules here are..." next thing I know, the lady had knocked some of our balls in the pockets and the younger couple was putting their sticks up. I proceeded to ask the couple if everything was ok and she said, "no, were leaving because the owner (Bonny Cooksey) is ma...

This is slideshow of historic Baton Rouge photos, Links are included at the end to most of these images. The maps are highly detailed when enlarged, I can upload them separataly if requested A few notes from my research: Fla Blvd was origainally called Shell Road before it was paved, The shells made it easy for horse drawn carriages to travel on. Leaving Downtown BR proper North Blvd changed names Jefferson Hwy, (later this section changed Names again to Goverment) it ended at S Acadian. Acadian was then was a short section of Clay Cut. The 2 road maps (one drawn in the late 1800's & one in 1920) are hard overlay Clay Cut was called clay gut road, when it was discovered it was a path that wild oxen traveled on. Looking at the old hand drawn map lower Clay cut changed names to Hope Vil...
