STURBRIDGE — A contract covering OFS workers who authorized a strike has been extended to June 29 while negotiations on a new agreement continue.
The contract, which had been due to expire May 28, covers nearly 300 OFS workers in Sturbridge and Norcross, Georgia, who are represented by the Communications Workers of America.
OFS Fitel LLC is a maker of fiber optic cables and products. It is owned by Furukawa Electric Co. of Japan.
The union reported that workers in Sturbridge and Norcross recently voted to authorize a strike if a fair agreement cannot be reached.
