Old Sturbridge Village (OSV) is a living museum located in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, in the United States, which re-creates life in rural New England during the 1790s through 1830s. It is the largest living museum in New England, covering more than 200 acres (80 hectares). The Village includes 59 antique buildings, three water-powered mills, and a working farm. The museum is a popular tourist and educational field trip destination. Costumed interpreters speaking in modern language help visitors understand 19th-century life.
Prior to European colonization, the Nipmuck people inhabited the Quinebaug region of which OSV is a part.
In the early 19th century, the land on which Old Sturbridge Village now stands was a farm owned by David Wight. The farm included a sawmill, gristmill and a millpond which survives to this day. The millpond, which still powers the mills, was dug in 1795.
In 1795, David Wight's son went to Boston to conduct some business on behalf of his father. While in Boston he bought tickets to the Harvard Lottery, which was set up as a fundraising technique for then Harvard College (now Harvard University) He won $5000 (equivalent to $75.6 thousand in today's dollars).. He gave his father money to pay off the mortgage on his farm and logged the timber of the cedar swamp which today is the millpond. After the logging was complete, they dug the pond with a team of oxen and a scoop. This entire process took two and a half years.

He finally crossed the wrong people and we are bringing him to justice not just on this but on many accounts of fraud as well.
A visit to Old Sturbridge Village, portraying New England life in the 1830s.
It's B-B-Q. And B-Y-O-B. So it's time you made a B-line for BT's Smokehouse in Sturbridge. Chef Brian Treitman is the tattooed force behind this unique barbecue restaurant.
A remarkable and inspiring view of the Village from the air during the fall. Fall was a busy time for early 19th-century New Englanders. Farmers harvested corn, potatoes, and vegetables. Families worked to preserve the harvest by drying, pickling, sugaring, and other preservation techniques. Despite the lack of modern refrigeration, families had no problem keeping food refrigerated from late November to early April. If anything, the concern was keeping food warm enough so that it would not be ruined by freezing or freeze-thaw cycles in the root cellar. Fall is a busy time at Old Sturbridge Village too! Make the Village a daytrip destination this season. Come for a special event, such as Apple Days or Dig-In: Field to Table, or come any day to enjoy the fall weather and leaves while learn...
Went to one of the showings of the Sleepy Hollow Experience at Old Sturbridge Village.
Skip ahead to 1:30 if you don't feel like waiting..... Went to see Sleepy Hollow last night at Old Sturbridge Village. What a great show. I have been to many theatrical productions but this is absolutely the most unique I've ever seen. Completely outdoors at OSV covering 1-1/2 miles. It was very similar to a haunted walk with ghoulish sites to see along the way. The actors would act out the story of Ichabod Crane and The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow and what happened in Tarrytown that fateful night that would take place in and outside a number of the buildings at OSV They even let all participate in the celebration and games at the Town Square Harvest Festival where you could bob for pumpkins or try your luck at the ring toss or bucket toss and many other events as well as interacting with the...

Travel video about destination Boston in the United States of America. Boston has over half a million inhabitants and is the largest of New England's cities. As its most important commercial and financial centre, the city on the Charles River has always played an historic role and was the cradle of Independence. In the centre of Boston, Copley Square features the Trinity Church, which contrasts with the modern Hancock Tower that dominates the skyline. Park Street Church was where, in 1829, William Garrison gave his first anti-slavery speech. In the adjacent Granary Burial Ground, some of America's most famous sons are buried, such as John Hancock, Samuel Adams and Paul Revere. Beacon Hill has hardly changed over the past 150 years, an architectural gem with narrow, winding cobbled street...
