Photography was introduced to the world in 1839 in France by Louis Daguerre and quickly spread throughout Europe, the United States, and the rest of the world. Surviving photographs taken of human subjects outside over the next decade in the United States in the 1840's are some of the most scarce in existence. This video attempts to assemble the largest collection of such photos taken between 1842 and the early 1850's.These are all either daguerreotypes or calotype salted paper prints.

This sort of documentary was made in 1941 (as stated in the opening titles). This short film depicts the culture of old Louisiana, including such aspects as slavery on cotton and cane plantations, the prevailing French language, Mississippi River trade, education, religion and music.
The film focuses on the elite and (wealthy) white families, such as plantation owners and business men. Sadly enough the delicate matters e.g. about how coloured people were treated in those days, are apparently insignificant. This documentary however (even when it's not really an accurate survey of history) might still be an interesting image of the time.

Crinoline was used between 1830-1870 and the cage crinoline was patented in 1858. In the 1850's and 1860's the skirt was biggest than ever in the 19th century. This video presents those balldresses/-gowns through different fashion plates, photographs, drawings and paintings. The video is over 6 minutes long, but for enthusiastic fan of Victorian fashion it is not a long time at all.
Music is called Frühlingsstimmen-Walzer (or in English Voices of Spring) by Johan Strauss II, performed by Vienna's Operaorchestra. Now I apologize there is one contradiction with pictures and the music: pictures are from 1850's and 1860's, but the music is composed in 1882... well, at least the music gives the right ball mood! :)

Urban Exploration - Abandoned Looking 1850 House
Although a stone of the house says 1727, public records has this colonial style home built in 1850. Not sure if part of the house was built in 1727 and added on in 1850, but it sure is a unique looking house. The house used to be a farm house but was sold to a church in 2008. The church built a new facility on the land and they kept the house. I took these photos in the Fall of 2013 and the house looked to going through a state of decay. Still in decent shape but the interior as i saw through windows looked to be peeling away. I searched for an hour on the internet to try and find some history to this house and this one is tough. It is a 4000 sq foot house with 10 total rooms, 5 bedrooms, and 2 baths. I was not able to tour the inside of this house so I only have these exterior photos. However this is a neat home design I never seen anywhere before. Video to follow. As always, like, comment, share away. Enjoy.

Urban Exploration - Abandoned Looking 1850 House Although a stone of the house says 1727, public records has this colonial style home built in 1850. Not sure if part of the house was built in 1727 and added on in 1850, but it sure is a unique looking house. The house used to be a farm house but was sold to a church in 2008. The church built a new facility on the land and they kept the house. I took these photos in the Fall of 2013 and the house looked to going through a state of decay. Still in decent shape but the interior as i saw through windows looked to be peeling away. I searched for an hour on the internet to try and find some history to this house and this one is tough. It is a 4000 sq foot house with 10 total rooms, 5 bedrooms, and 2 baths. I was not able to tour the inside of this house so I only have these exterior photos. The Earliest Photographs of the United States of America (1842-1850)
Photography was introduced to the world in 1839 in France by Louis Daguerre and quickly spread throughout Europe, the United States, and the rest of the world. Surviving photographs taken of human subjects outside over the next decade in the United States in the 1840's are some of the most scarce in existence. Life in Old Louisiana (1830-1850)
This sort of documentary was made in 1941 (as stated in the opening titles). This short film depicts the culture of old Louisiana, including such aspects as slavery on cotton and cane plantations, the prevailing French language, Mississippi River trade, education, religion and music. The film focuses on the elite and (wealthy) white families, such as plantation owners and business men. Sadly enough the delicate matters e.g. about how coloured people were treated in those days, are apparently insignificant. This documentary however (even when it's not really an accurate survey of history) might still be an interesting image of the time. Cage crinoline balldresses from 1850´s and 1860's
Crinoline was used between 1830-1870 and the cage crinoline was patented in 1858. In the 1850's and 1860's the skirt was biggest than ever in the 19th century. This video presents those balldresses/-gowns through different fashion plates, photographs, drawings and paintings. The video is over 6 minutes long, but for enthusiastic fan of Victorian fashion it is not a long time at all. Music is called Frühlingsstimmen-Walzer (or in English Voices of Spring) by Johan Strauss II, performed by Vienna's Operaorchestra. Photography was introduced to the world in 1839 in France by Louis Daguerre and quickly spread throughout Europe, the United States, and the rest of the world. Surviving photographs taken of human subjects outside over the next decade in the United States in the 1840's are some of the most scarce in existence. This video attempts to assemble the largest collection of such photos taken between 1842 and the early 1850's.These are all either daguerreotypes or calotype salted paper prints.

This sort of documentary was made in 1941 (as stated in the opening titles). This short film depicts the culture of old Louisiana, including such aspects as slavery on cotton and cane plantations, the prevailing French language, Mississippi River trade, education, religion and music.
The film focuses on the elite and (wealthy) white families, such as plantation owners and business men. Sadly enough the delicate matters e.g. about how coloured people were treated in those days, are apparently insignificant. This documentary however (even when it's not really an accurate survey of history) might still be an interesting image of the time.

Urban Exploration - Abandoned Looking 1850 House
Although a stone of the house says 1727, public records has this colonial style home built in 1850. Not sure if part of the house was built in 1727 and added on in 1850, but it sure is a unique looking house. The house used to be a farm house but was sold to a church in 2008. The church built a new facility on the land and they kept the house. I took these photos in the Fall of 2013 and the house looked to going through a state of decay. Still in decent shape but the interior as i saw through windows looked to be peeling away. I searched for an hour on the internet to try and find some history to this house and this one is tough. It is a 4000 sq foot house with 10 total rooms, 5 bedrooms, and 2 baths. I was not able to tour the inside of this house so I only have these exterior photos. However this is a neat home design I never seen anywhere before. Video to follow. As always, like, comment, share away. Enjoy.
