Ten years later, in September 1980, the couple granted their first in-depth interview in five years to 'Playboy' while they were in the process of recording 'Double Fantasy'. Plot: He is known by everybody but nobody really knows him. He finds himself in a wrong situation. His proclaimed devotees are too preoccupied with rules and bureaucracy -or simply with their jobs- to recognize him. This short film, directed by Alec Hahn, is inspired and narrated by the German poet and songwriter Goetz Widmann. It is based on the hypothetical idea of what would happen if Jesus Christ would seek asylum in a first world country. When one rigid belief confronts the other, one of them has to be ignored. The birth of hypocrisy!

Plot: In 1964 a reluctant John Lennon is persuaded by manager Brian Epstein to meet Freddie, the father who abandoned him 17 years earlier, with the press in attendance. The meeting is short and bitter. Three years later Epstein is dead and John invites Freddie to his mansion but again things turn sour, due to Freddie's drinking and insulting Mimi, the aunt who raised John. The Beatles set up Apple records but the press are hostile and Lennon's comment that 'we're more popular than Jesus' doesn't help. Rows with long-suffering wife Cynthia lead to marital breakdown and John's meeting Japanese performance artist Yoko Ono. Family history is repeated as Lennon leaves Cynthia and their son Julian for Ono, by whom he has a second son, Sean. In 1969 John returns his M.B.E. in protest at England's support for the Vietnam War while his stunts with Yoko Ono to promote peace alienate the press. Some months later he disbands the Beatles to the other members' annoyance and, after arguments with Paul McCartney, sees a therapist, who regresses him to the day Freddie left him. He learns that Freddie needs his help to write a biography, leading to one last showdown between father and son.

Yoko Ono : "Don't Worry Kyoko" [Live at the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival] [1969]
On
13 September 1969,
John Lennon,
Yoko Ono and their new band, playing live for the first and last time during the "
Toronto Rock and Roll Revival", a one day, twelve hour music festival held in
Varsity Stadium, at the
University of Toronto, before an audience of over 25,
000 people. It featured a number of popular musical acts from the
1950s and
1960s, including
Chuck Berry,
Little Richard,
Jerry Lee Lewis,
Fats Domino,
Bo Diddley, and
Gene Vincent and also booked more modern acts such as
Alice Cooper,
Chicago Transit Authority and
The Doors.
Toronto rock promoters
John Brower and
Kenny Walker contacted John Lennon to see if he would be willing to be the master of ceremonies.
Lennon responded that if he came over at all, it would be to play, "only if you let me bring my new band so we can play." He hastily assembled a band under the
Plastic Ono Band moniker, consisting of his wife Yoko Ono,
Eric Clapton,
Klaus Voormann, and drummer
Alan White.
The band had two rehearsals: one was during the transatlantic flight from
London to Toronto and the other shortly before appearing on stage at the actual festival. Before the start of the Plastic Ono Band's performance, they were introduced by
Kim Fowley and Lennon said to the crowd that the group were going to play only songs that they actually knew. They performed three classic rock and roll songs ("
Blue Suede Shoes", "
Money (
That's What I Want)", "
Dizzy Miss Lizzy"), the
Beatles ("Yer
Blues") and his two solo songs, ("
Give Peace a Chance" and "
Cold Turkey")
Yoko selected a song which had been the
B-side of "Cold Turkey," "
Don't Worry Kyoko (Mummy's Only
Looking for Her Hand in the
Snow)", which also had its premiere at the festival. Shortly before the band went into the song, Lennon announced that Yoko was "gonna do her thing all over you".
Film maker D. A. Pennebaker, who had made the
1967 documentary "
Don't Look Back", concerning
Bob Dylan's
1965 UK tour, and the
1968 documentary "
Monterey Pop", concerning the 1967 "
Monterey International Pop Festival", also filmed the Toronto Rock and Roll Revival.
The Plastic Ono Band's performance resulted in the release of the "
Live Peace in Toronto 1969"
album and become the soundtrack recording, being part of the audio portion of the Pennebaker's documentary film being made of the festival, released in
1971 as "
Sweet Toronto".
John and Yoko made a deal with Pennebaker to license their portion of the show for record, in exchange for rights to include their appearance. Due to the adverse reaction to Yoko's performance, Pennebaker removed the segments with John and Yoko after limited screenings of the film, later re-edited as "
Keep on Rockin".
Showtime ultimately presented the performance in
1989, and the full movie appeared later on home video and
DVD.

Her home is on the southside, high upon a ridge
Just a half a mile from the

Help me information more than that I cannot add
Only that I miss her and all the fun we had
But we were pulled apart because her mom did not agree
Tore apart our happy home in Memphis, Tennessee
The last time I saw Marie she was waving me goodbye
With hurry home drops on her cheek that trickled from her eye
Marie is only six years old,

Yoko Ono is a remarkable person in a pragmatic world. Her love of people and planet, her piercing probing art, her expressionistic music, her protection and promotion of
John Lennon's legacy, continue decade after decade, resilient against the onslaught of cynicism. And at the age of 80, she opened
London's Meltdown festival on the
South Bank with a concert by the Yoko Ono
Plastic Ono Band (featuring
Sean Lennon &
Yuka Honda), her message as urgent and embracing as it ever was. Here the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band, together with
Peaches, perform "
Don't Worry Kyoko (Mummy's Only
Looking for Her Hand in the
Snow)," taken from Yoko Ono's legendary
1971 protopunk
album, "Fly." The original track featured
Eric Clapton, and Sean Lennon bravely took
Clapton's part. The song is a tonic for depression, a sonic assault on the soul to wash away anguish (specifically a custody battle, but more universally, a proto-punk attack on any lingering misery whatsoever)! :)
