When Bill Graham put together the triple bill concert of The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers and The Band on the banks of Seneca Lake, he thought the gig would perhaps attract 150,000 people (half the estimated number that showed up for Woodstock four years earlier). By the day before the gig, an immense crowd of a quarter of a million young people had already gathered. By the time the Grateful Dead's afternoon set was underway...the attendance had swelled to almost 600,000....
but alas..I wasn't there and am envious of everyone who was! ~ Peace, Jacqui

The Band
The Band was a Canadian-American roots rock group, originally consisting of Rick Danko (bass guitar, double bass, fiddle, trombone, vocals), Levon Helm (drums, mandolin, vocals), Garth Hudson (keyboards, saxophones, trumpet), Richard Manuel (piano, baritone, drums, vocals) and Robbie Robertson (guitar, percussion, vocals). The members of the Band first came together as they joined rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins's backing group, the Hawks, one by one between 1958 and 1963.
In 1964, they separated from Hawkins, after which they toured and released a few singles as Levon and the Hawks and the Canadian Squires. The next year, Bob Dylan hired them for his U.S. tour in 1965 and world tour in 1966. Following the 1966 tour, the group moved with Dylan to Saugerties, New York, where they made the informal 1967 recordings that became The Basement Tapes, which forged the basis for their 1968 debut album, Music from Big Pink. Because they were always "the band" to various frontmen, Helm said the name "The Band" worked well when the group came into its own. The group began performing as the Band in 1968 and went on to release ten studio albums. Dylan continued to collaborate with the Band over the course of their career, including a joint 1974 tour.

Incredible footage of The Band (said to be) from the house they called Big Pink (Bob Dylan's "club house"). Up On Cripple Creek - Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, Garth... everyone sweet and young and rockin'. Although this turns out to not be Pig Pink, the footage is equal to the time frame and area. The Band - Stage Fright (1970) [Full Album]
Stage Fright is the third studio album by Canadian-American group The Band released in 1970. Much more of a rock album than its predecessors, it was a departure from their previous two efforts in that its tone was darker and featured less of the harmony vocal blend that had been a centerpiece of those two albums. It also included the last two recordings by The Band of new songs credited to pianist Richard Manuel; both were co-written with guitarist Robbie Robertson, who would continue to be the group's dominant lyricist until the group disbanded in 1976. Nonetheless, the tradition of switching instruments that had begun on the previous album continued here, with each musician contributing instrumental parts on at least two different instruments. Stage Fright is the third studio album by Canadian-American group The Band released in 1970. Much more of a rock album than its predecessors, it was a departure from their previous two efforts in that its tone was darker and featured less of the harmony vocal blend that had been a centerpiece of those two albums. It also included the last two recordings by The Band of new songs credited to pianist Richard Manuel; both were co-written with guitarist Robbie Robertson, who would continue to be the group's dominant lyricist until the group disbanded in 1976. Nonetheless, the tradition of switching instruments that had begun on the previous album continued here, with each musician contributing instrumental parts on at least two different instruments. The booklet alludes to the fact that Levon Helm was high on heroin while recording "Strawberry Wine".
Engineered by an up-and-coming Todd Rundgren, and produced by the group themselves for the first time, the album was recorded at the Woodstock Playhouse in their homebase of Woodstock, New York. The album featured an insert which became popular as a fold-out poster. The insert image was shot by photographer Norman Seeff.
Two different mixes of the album were prepared, one in the US by Rundgren and one in the UK by Glyn Johns. The Johns mix was selected for the original LP release and all subsequent reissues on Capitol (included the expanded 2000 remaster), while Rundgren's mix was eventually released on a 24k gold CD reissue of the album by the DCC Compact Classics label in 2004.

Looking further out, Harmonix will update Rock Band 4 this holiday to add support for online multiplayer. Additionally, Harmonix recently signed a licensing deal extension with iconic guitar company Fender that's good through 2027.

Last Tuesday, with E3 in full swing, Harmonix and partner PDP announced 'Rock Band Rivals,' an expansion for 'Rock Band 4.' Also announced was slew of new 'Rock Band 4' hardware, including the Rock Band Wireless Fender Jaguar guitar controller. 'Rock Band Rivals' has an announced expansion price point of $29.99 for either PS4 or Xbox One. The expansion will also come in a bundle with the base game and the new Jaguar guitar controller for $89.99. Actual info on 'Rock Band 4 Rivals' coming out of E3.
Last Tuesday, with E3 in full swing, Harmonix and partner PDP announced 'Rock Band Rivals,' an expansion for 'Rock Band 4.' Also announced was slew of new 'Rock Band 4' hardware, including the Rock Band Wireless Fender Jaguar guitar controller. 'Rock Band Rivals' has an announced expansion price point of $29.99 for either PS4 or Xbox One. The expansion will also come in a bundle with the base game and the new Jaguar guitar controller for $89.99. Considering that the new guitar is priced at $69.99, the pricing does seem to favor new players who will be getting 'Rock Band 4' as throw-in with the $89.99 bundle.

We’ve got some big news! We’ve just announced at our Rock Band panel that synchronous online multiplayer is coming to Rock Band 4, and better yet, it will be available THIS YEAR!
As one of our most requested features, synchronous online multiplayer has been a major focus of discussion within the Rock Band 4 development team for a while. Harmonix is dedicated to bringing high quality features to Rock Band 4, and we intend to continue support of the game as a platform through the entire 2016 year (and beyond!). We’ve listened to our audience, and we’re happy to announce that online multiplayer is confirmed as a major feature in the Rock Band 4 development roadmap.
While we can’t reveal all the details yet (it’s still in development!), we can let you peek behind the curtain just a bit. Synchronous online multiplayer will be like Quickplay, modified to provide a fair and streamlined experience for console friends looking to play Rock Band 4 together online. We’ll be implementing enhancements on the back end (think of it like our secret sauce) that’ll address issues for folks who don’t have the exact same DLC libraries and the like. Back in the Rock Band 3 era, it was sometimes (often) a nightmare to have one person pick every single song, or have that one jerk troll the band when trying to compromise on the next track to play. This secret sauce will help avoid some of the more difficult areas from the previous generation.
This is just one of the exciting features included as a part of our first big expansion pack coming in the fall. Online multiplayer will be available shortly after that for everyone who has the expansion. Stay tuned for more details at E3!

Musicians and friends of Harmonix, Princess Problems, will be performing at the show! Additionally, fans of Amplitude will get to experience tracks from the soundtrack performed by the Harmonix band, Autoblaster.

We've all been to great gigs, but the truly amazing shows change your point of view. You could argue the toss between stadium-sized orgasms and sweaty intimate club sessions, but in the end what really matters is how it could moved you.
Too many feelings wrestled in my head during SORE's comeback concert that evening. Vigorously psyched realizing that after all of these years, finally the comrades are back in the game, but in a split of a second getting all mellowed. To be more vivid, it was like having a dinner with your long lost ex that left years ago for no reason. I tend to get sentimentally mushy in these kinds of situations. Not keen at emotional events.
Everyone seems to be as anxiously excited as me, longing eyes patiently waiting and snaking in queues that evening, to finally redeem years of yearning. Limited merchs and the fresh new album "Sorealist" stocks were slowly dwindled as people invaded Rolling Stone Cafe Live Venue.
For many today's so-called cutting edge fellows, SORE honed up the vibrancy and opened up a path. Their first full-length album Centralismo (2005) is a stepping stone cooked with a mixture of vintage instruments, perfect songwriting and a great deal of friendship. Their second attempt Ports of Lima (2008), is a bizarrely beautiful piece that helped me going through wearying times (sorry if it's personal) at that era. The last physical trace of them was 2010 EP, Sombrero Kiddos.
After years of self-exile, SORE's return started miraculously sharp with "Sssttt..." uploaded in Soundcloud. It took only hours before the page reached thousands hit and became talk of the week, everywhere (Yes, everywhere. Even Kele Okereke gave a shout). The next wave resulted even better; the song hit no.1 for most downloaded song in iTunes Indonesia. Indeed, smooth landing after a long -- most likely exhausting -- journey. With those reasons, documenting their comeback gig becomes obligatory.
The crowd started to jostle their way into the front of the stage when I successfully sneaked into the not-so-empty balcony to get proper viewing to the stage. Rumor has it (and apparently it's true) that it was the most packed gig held in Rolling Stone Live Venue. Seemed that the Los Skut Leboys are in fact, missed by everyone.
Just like a mannered Paterfamilias, Awan Garnida, Ade Paloh, Reza Dwi Putranto and Bemby Gusti dressed to kill. While Reza looked like your uncle from countryside and Bemby was a Kung Fu trainer, Awan wore black on black turban, and Ade wore a complete Thawb dress. Couldn't get any cooler than that.
For a fan like myself, the gig was an emotional roller coaster. The amazing feedback from the crowd was unquestionable, but it was no secret that they had rough time after Ramondo Gascaro left and it was a hard job to getting over it. Everyone knows that the band is fueled from scratch with bold bromance between the band members.
On stage between songs, Awan and Ade often mentioned Mondo, and it was not a hard thing to realize that they missed their friend so much. During "Etalase", you could watch Bemby teased Ade. Behind the thick sunglasses, Ade even shed a tear on "Bantal Keras", the new song (won't be played again ever, just that one time) from Sorealist that pretty much elaborates his feeling that evening. On the other hand, happiness burst as Awan announced the birth of his newborn baby. Another shocking ace moment when Eca surprisingly smashed his guitar during Funk The Hole climax (no one saw THAT coming, even his own band mates, I think). Not to mention the clamorous sing alongs during nearly every song they played. Just like I said, an emotional Roller Coaster.
It wasn't just a gig. What I saw is group of people that struggled their way for the sake of togetherness. They deserved it. Things might get bumpy, but what matters is how we deal with it. That evening, SORE taught us how to survive, to keep making music and stay together, to sincerely love your friend, to love your family, and to love your life. Doom, a genre fragmented into a myriad of sub-genres....traditional, epic, stoner, blackened and funeral are just a few of the differing styles vying for attention under its dark moody banner. Massive, heavy, slow to mid-tempo grooves with incessant riffage are usually the norm to be found at the root of the music with often only the styling and delivery of the vocals the difference between one sub-genre and another. Using this analogy it could be argued that New York doomsters Clouds Taste Satanic should be categorized as pure doom as the band eschew the luxury of a vocalist and just concentrate on nailing down the groove. Dawn Of The Satanic age is their 3rd full length offering in 3 years and is the follow up to last years Your Doom Has Come. Heavy down tuned and delicious grooves of instrumental doom delivered by a band who excel in delivering heavy down tuned grooves of instrumental doom!
Clouds Taste Satanic, Sean Bay ( bass), Christy Davis (drums), Steven Scavuzzo (guitar) and David Weintraub (guitar), have with "Dawn Of The Satanic Age" managed to sidestep the criticisms leveled at them for the sameness of their output by adding elements of light and shade into their titanic tomes of doom. Although still as heavy as tanker carrying a shipment of mercury and as dense as a desert night "Dawn Of The Satanic Age" sees CTS allowing little rays of light come shining through the doom, Where a song like "Retribution" would of once upon a time started off dark and gloomy and then slowly got darker and gloomier the band lighten up the mood by the addition of up-tempo eastern themed prog grooves into the mix, ok its still not puppy dogs and kittens but it does break up the despair and despondency and allows the listener a breath of air before diving back into mire.
Prog-ish and post-rock elements seep into every song on "Dawn Of The Satanic Age", with songs like "Just Another Animal", We Die We Live" and closer "Demon Among The Stars" all carrying a musicality and maturity not seen before by the band. There is a rumor that CTS started out as a post-rock band and then later moved into the heavy arena burying their original sound under a wave of doom on the way, well on the evidence of "Dawn Of The Satanic Age" those post-rock leanings were never too far away and are once again starting to surface .... and that 'aint no bad thing! Sonically, Dawn Of The Satanic Age finds the band tighter, heavier and more aggressive than ever, piling riff upon riff and taking their Satanic Stoner/Demonic Doom up through the clouds and down into the Abyss. You will not be disappointed.

Revolting Cocks, also known as RevCo, was an American–Belgian industrial rock band and, sometimes, supergroup that began as a musical side-project for Richard 23 of Front 242, Luc Van Acker, and Al Jourgensen of Ministry.
Rumor has it the gents who make up Revolting Cocks came upon the name by their usual debauchery. Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen was out for a hard night of drinking with some friends, so hard that the bartender threw them out, declaring them a bunch of revolting cocks. The name was first applied to one of Jourgensen's many side projects in 1985, when he partnered with Luc Van Acker and Front 242's Richard 23 to bring art and the dancefloor closer together. As recordings progressed, things went in a different direction and the chaotic, snide, and sleazy sounds that were taking over had Richard 23 making an exit over creative differences. He departed in 1986, right as the band's debut, Big Sexy Land, was being released by the seminal industrial label Wax Trax! The album featured the Blade Runner homage and club hit "Attack Ships on Fire," while the artwork introduced "the Three Guys," anonymous faces from an old photograph that would represent the band on album covers for years to come. Ministry associates Paul Barker, Chris Connelly, and Bill Rieflin would join Van Acker and Jourgensen for a tour supporting the album, recordings of which surfaced in 1988 on the live album and video You Goddamned Son of a Bitch.
Beers, Steers + Queers The nihilistic party attitude of the band had now officially taken over any grand artistic aspirations, and if the success of 1989's Stainless Steel Providers didn't prove their audience was right there with them, college radio and clubs being dominated by 1990's "Beers, Steers + Queers" certainly did. Beers, Steers + Queers, the album, followed that same year and included two cover versions of "(Let's Get) Physical," one a simple loop of the word "physical" that goes on for 13 minutes. The band celebrated the album's release by touring the country with the Skatenigs -- whose vocalist, Phil Owen, had contributed to Beers -- and the always-vile Mentors as support. Linger Ficken' Good... from 1993 was a more subdued album, but it was still shocking that the Warner Bros.-associated Sire released the album and helped the band score another club hit with their cover of Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?"
Cocked and Loaded Years passed and it seemed the Revco were officially over until 2004, when the track "Prune Tang" appeared on the Internet, announcing the coming of their next album, Purple Head. The Ryko label reissued the band's first two albums that year with bonus tracks, but the new album failed to appear. A year later, a cover version of Bauhaus' "Dark Entries" with Butthole Surfer Gibby Haynes as vocalist appeared on the Saw II soundtrack. Haynes joined Jello Biafra, Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen and Robin Zander, Davíd Garza, and ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, along with veterans Jourgensen and Owen (now known as Phildo Owen) for 2006's Cocked and Loaded. The album appeared on Jourgensen's 13th Planet label and was the first Revco release to not feature "the Three Guys" on the cover. Sex-O Olympic-O would follow in 2008 with Got Cock? arriving in 2010. The latter included a cover version of 2 Live Crew’s “Me So Horny.”

The album featured the Blade Runner homage and club hit "Attack Ships on Fire," while the artwork introduced "the Three Guys," anonymous faces from an old photograph that would represent the band on album covers for years to come. Ministry associates Paul Barker, Chris Connelly, and Bill Rieflin would join Van Acker and Jourgensen for a tour supporting the album, recordings of which surfaced in 1988 on the live album and video You Goddamned Son of a Bitch.
Beers, Steers + Queers The nihilistic party attitude of the band had now officially taken over any grand artistic aspirations, and if the success of 1989's Stainless Steel Providers didn't prove their audience was right there with them, college radio and clubs being dominated by 1990's "Beers, Steers + Queers" certainly did. Beers, Steers + Queers, the album, followed that same year and included two cover versions of "(Let's Get) Physical," one a simple loop of the word "physical" that goes on for 13 minutes. The band celebrated the album's release by touring the country with the Skatenigs -- whose vocalist, Phil Owen, had contributed to Beers -- and the always-vile Mentors as support. Linger Ficken' Good... from 1993 was a more subdued album, but it was still shocking that the Warner Bros.-associated Sire released the album and helped the band score another club hit with their cover of Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?"
Cocked and Loaded Years passed and it seemed the Revco were officially over until 2004, when the track "Prune Tang" appeared on the Internet, announcing the coming of their next album, Purple Head. The Ryko label reissued the band's first two albums that year with bonus tracks, but the new album failed to appear. A year later, a cover version of Bauhaus' "Dark Entries" with Butthole Surfer Gibby Haynes as vocalist appeared on the Saw II soundtrack. Haynes joined Jello Biafra, Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen and Robin Zander, Davíd Garza, and ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, along with veterans Jourgensen and Owen (now known as Phildo Owen) for 2006's Cocked and Loaded. The album appeared on Jourgensen's 13th Planet label and was the first Revco release to not feature "the Three Guys" on the cover. Sex-O Olympic-O would follow in 2008 with Got Cock? arriving in 2010. The latter included a cover version of 2 Live Crew’s “Me So Horny.”
