"Harmonious Society" in Action - Tools the Chinese Communist Party is Using to Mitigate Socio-economic Tensions, Christina Chen
Christina Chen examines how China's government has responded to workers' demands for higher wages and better working conditions. Increased tensions have caused the government to empower the previously feeble official trade union to become more active promoter of workers' interests. At the local level, the empowered labor unions act as fire-alarms by inducing labor bureaucracies to increase their enforcement efforts with respect to labor laws and regulation. This is one method by which the authoritarian government seeks to maintain power. Chen's work is informed by provincial-level data from the 1990s to today as well as interviews with officials in a number of locations.

"Harmonious Society" in Action - Tools the Chinese Communist Party is Using to Mitigate Socio-economic Tensions, Derek Liu
Derek Liu examines what drives the provision of social welfare in China. He argues that the central authorities are able to use promotion as a mechanism to shape policy at the local level despite decentralization. Ambitious provincial officials—those who seek to advance their careers to the top levels—comply with central government mandates and increase social spending in order to impress Beijing and increase their chances for promotion. Officials who are more interested in provincial or municipal careers, however, prefer to spend money on economic projects tied to their business partners. Liu's presentation draws on novel data sources, including expenditures on "dining and entertaining," as well as more than one hundred interviews with officials. Liu's work is based on fourteen months in the field.

Many countries have a similar notion.
But in most countries these different people originate from immigration. This is not the case in China.
In France we have "black, blanc, beurs". In South Africa, it is the "rainbow nation". In the US, it is the "melting pot"...

A group of local youth from Qudsaya teamed up with their displaced neighbors to start the hanging gardens Community-based Initiative (CBI), the idea was to plant gardens in recycled materials, such as plastic bottles, bags, barrels, and used wheels.
The gardens were arranged either vertically or horizontally in the area streets and walls and were packed with rich organic soil.
This CBI shows how some imagination with the adequate support can promote participation, as it had a great impact on the residents who have improved overview of their neighbourhood and put their creative ideas and energy into practice.

Harmonious Society
Harmonious Society (simplified Chinese: 和谐社会; traditional Chinese: 和諧社會; pinyin: héxié shèhuì) is a socio-economic vision in China.
The concept of social harmony dates back to ancient China, to the time of Confucius. As a result, the philosophy has also been characterized as a form of New Confucianism. In modern times, it developed into a key feature of Hu Jintao's signature ideology of the Scientific Development Concept developed in the mid-2000s, being re-introduced by the Hu–Wen Administration during the 2005 National People's Congress.
The philosophy is recognized as a response to the increasing social injustice and inequality emerging in mainland Chinese society as a result of unchecked economic growth, which has led to social conflict. The governing philosophy was therefore shifted around economic growth to overall societal balance and harmony. Along with a moderately prosperous society, it was set to be one of the national goals for the ruling communist party .
The promotion of "Harmonious Society" demonstrated that Hu Jintao's ruling philosophy had departed from that of his predecessors. Near the end of his tenure in 2011, Hu appeared to extend the ideology to an international dimension, with a focus on the international peace and cooperation, which is said to lead to a "harmonious world" whereas the administration of Hu's successor, Xi Jinping, has used the philosophy more sparingly, likely in favor of emphasizing his vision of the Chinese Dream.

Society
A society is a group of people involved in persistent social interaction, or a large social grouping sharing the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations. Societies are characterized by patterns of relationships (social relations) between individuals who share a distinctive culture and institutions; a given society may be described as the sum total of such relationships among its constituent members. In the social sciences, a larger society often evinces stratification or dominance patterns in subgroups.
Insofar as it is collaborative, a society can enable its members to benefit in ways that would not otherwise be possible on an individual basis; both individual and social (common) benefits can thus be distinguished, or in many cases found to overlap.
A society can also consist of like-minded people governed by their own norms and values within a dominant, larger society. This is sometimes referred to as a subculture, a term used extensively within criminology.

The Hanging Garden for a colorful Neighborhood and a harmonious society
A group of local youth from Qudsaya teamed up with their displaced neighbors to start the hanging gardens Community-based Initiative (CBI), the idea was to plant gardens in recycled materials, such as plastic bottles, bags, barrels, and used wheels. The gardens were arranged either vertically or horizontally in the area streets and walls and were packed with rich organic soil. This CBI shows how some imagination with the adequate support can promote participation, as it had a great impact on the residents who have improved overview of their neighbourhood and put their creative ideas and energy into practice. When we are peaceful at every moment, we lead very fortunate lives. To live in a simplicity and harmony is a blessing. How can we lead simple and harmonious lives? There is only one way. We must adjust our mindset. If we are kind-hearted, the world is like Heaven like a Pure Land, where we live with Bodhisattvas. If we can get along with and love each other the world will be like a big family. We treat each other as closed friends or loved ones. Wouldn't a world like this always be peaceful?

ISLAM BRADFORD
IslamBradford is a UK registered charity (no. 1105942) established in January 2004.
Aims
To invite Muslims back to the true teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah (the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him]) in both beliefs and practices;
To invite to and educate non-Muslims about the true teachings of Islam;
To engage and contribute to the community in which we live.
IslamBradford is committed to co-operating with other organisations and is open to all.
The IslamBradford Centre (IBC) is strategically located in the very heart of Bradford on Preston Street, between Thornton Road and Listerhills Road, on the second and top floor of what was a former industrial unit, which now serves as a Day2Day wholesale retail outlet. The centre is easily identified by the large car park in front of the building and is best accessible by car. Parking facilities exclusive to the IBC are located around the back of the building, through the main car park. Our entrance is round the side of the building towards its rear end. Due to the many stairs, access for the disabled and infirm is unfortunately currently restricted.
The IBC comprises of two floors. On the top floor there is a large hall, with a maximum capacity of more than two hundred people, three classrooms and two sets of toilet facilities for the brothers. The second floor which is underneath the brothers hall, is for the use by the sisters, which consists of a main hall with a capacity of more than fifty people, two classrooms and two sets of toilet facilities.
A wide range of activities are held at the centre throughout the week. Please see the Regular Classes section for further details.
The IBC is funded entirely by donations from the public and does not receive any sort of external funding. To learn how you can further support our work please see the Get Involved and Donation page. We hope, with the help of Allah Almighty, to establish a more permanent base for our activities in the near future, which will enable us to better serve Bradford's fast-growing English speaking Muslim community.
The use of the centre is subject to the IslamBradford Centre Rules & Regulations.
