White glue, wood glue.. PVA Glue has as many names, as it has usages!! It is an excellent bonding material for canopies on plastic and resin model kits, as it dries clear and transparent, and rock hard. Once dry you can paint over it too.. Music from Incompetech.com

DIY Skateboard Short (Welcome Home)
DIY Skateboard Short (Welcome Home)
Pressed boards back in the day. Got inspired by all the cool DIY videos. Found a bunch of my old stuff decided to share. The wood is commonly known as sugar maple (hard rock maple is a skate term started in the late 70s or early 80s). It is rotary cut into veneer with a thickness of 1/16 inch. I do believe this wood is more than a dollar a square foot, (unless you're willing to buy it by the truck load) and there is approx 18 square feet in each board. PVA glue (white carpenters glue) is perfect for gluing your deck. If you're interested in improving your lamination you can combine PVA glue with a catalyst: aluminium chloride. Aluminums chloride is corrosive and is only available through industrial suppliers. This catalyst causes the glue to "cross bond" creating a superior bond. Apply the glue with a hard rubber roller; this is the easiest way to get a consistent application of glue by hand. Do not glue both sides of the plies or put on too much glue. This extra glue becomes kind of like an extra layer which causes a board to soften up in the sun. Any left over catalyst needs to be disposed of properly, as it is a hazardous material. This particular catalyst does increase dry time a bit, but can be compensated for by heating your mould since it still behaves as normal PVA glue. One of the biggest questions I get is how I built my first moulds for my press. I used car bondo for my mould because it was the cheapest material I could pour and sand and could stand up to ...

glueing of war bow laminates.
glueing of war bow laminates.
A vid to show how i glued the war bow timber... i used an electric plane to get each of the glue surfaces smooth the sanded each of the faces. The glue i used was an external grade evostick PVA glue from BandQ. The secret is in the joint preperation... firstly apply a watereddown PVA glue mix then leave to dry for 30 mins before applying an undiluted PVA glue before bringing the timber together... Perhaps 3 days was a little to long to leave the glue drying but i didn't want to chance another broken longbow.

kitchen chemistry
In this video I do some experiments that were taken from the kitchen. to see part 2 click here ! www.youtube.com Crushing a can. This works because the steam produced from heating the can pushes out the air. When the can cools the steam truns back into a liquid. The quite impressive force of the air (that we are exposed to all the time!) 101325 Pa, which easy crushes the can. The reason this huge force dues not cruch cans or kill people all the time is that the presser pushing out of the can was the same as the presser pushing in, that is until I chemistryd it. Egg Not realy science just nice to look at and eat Borax polymer PVA glue, poly vinyl acetate is a polymer (long chain of molecules). Its smooth and free flowing like a thick liquid. When you add the borax it connects together some of these polymer molecules and they get court up in each other. So it behaves more like a solid.
