Honorable Mentions:
Dale Chance's
Fallout 3 Merch-
Often known as the guy who created the Pip-Boy ipod dock, Chance's work (as shown in his ETSY store) is filled with great Fallout 3 collectibles that are both visually stunning and practical- I hope to see a bunch of the "
Big Book of Science" notebooks come fall.

Mass Effect 3 Hoodies- The only reason these aren't on the list is because we don't have a price.
Christine Schott has made a brilliant concept and we can't wait to see them!

Dark souls coffin- disqualified since only used once. That coffin has seen too much death for re-use.

There has been a lot of exciting news for merch collectors this week and we've decided to count down our favorite 5 video game collectibles.
Our first item is a dream for cosplay enthusiasts. This week, gamestop announced that it would begin selling an official hidden blade from the
Assassins Creed series.
The 15 inch plastic blade is spring loaded into the engraved gauntlet for an authentic feel and will cost 39.99. You can pre-order it in gamestop's website now, but it will arrive in stores on
October 30 --just in time for
Halloween.
In anticipation of Mass Effect 3, Bioware teamed up with Triforce to create a limited edition
M-8 Avenger replica.
Apparently they did well enough to demand giant prices on ebay and for the project to continue with our next collectible. Triforce is now offering a full-scale replica of the M-3 predator with
LED effects for pre-order on its website.
A $100 deposit reserves the 10 lbs of hand-painted sidearm, but it will cost a total of $400 upon its release later this year.
The next piece is a little more useful around the house- if your house is being attacked by necromorphs. When gamers who bought the collector's edition of
Dead Space 2 found out that their plasma cutters were smaller than they had hoped,
Epic Weapons set out and created life-size replicas of the plasma cutters from both Dead Space and Dead Space 2. Both replicas have are battery powered laser sights and the Dead Space 2 replica can even rotate the cutting angle by 90 degrees- just like in the game. In addition, they are reasonably priced for weapon replicas, starting at 229.95.
Putting our weapons aside, the next item won a place in our hearts because of its subtlety. Every bioshock fan will instantly recognize the masquerade ball poster from the walls of rapture throughout the game, but to the casual observer it's simply a classy lithographe on the wall- if it's framed people may even think it's an antique. Its brilliance is that it's a piece of videogame memorabilia that you can keep at your bedside that won't damage the prospects of bringing someone home.
Best of all, it costs $20.
You're welcome.
Which brings us to #1. Throughout the entirety of gaming, the Portal community constantly amazes us with its creativity and stunning aesthetics in creating unique and fun collectables. To be honest, Portal merchandise and fan creations are so cool that it becomes nearly impossible to pick a winner- between the replica portal guns, the book-ends, the gels, and it's impossible to say no to the companion cube
... just, awwww. So we won't.
Instead I'll simply introduce you to the newest highly anticipated member of the family.
Meet the new
Aperture sentry turret replica from Gaming heads. The 16-inch tall turret has a built-in motion sensor that turns on the red-light when you wave your hand in front of it. In addition, the exclusive version plays sounds and voice samples from the game. The exclusive version has already sold out and gaming heads has begun a waitlist, but you can preorder the normal version for $
300.
Well, that's our list and be sure to check the description for our honorable mentions. What do you think? Are you going to pick any of these items up? Is there something you think we missed?
