In a new interview with Refinery 29 Demi addressed her feud with Taylor Swift saying she doesnt get along with her and also calls into question Tays right to call herself a feminist. As you guys know earlier this year in February Demi first threw jabs at Taylor when Tay decided to support Kesha in her fight against dr. luke by donating 250,000 dollars to help out with legal fees.. But according to Demi she thought what Taylor did was not enough that she would be more impressed if she actually spoke out about something instead of throwing money towards it. In her newest interview with Refinery she seems to still stand by what she said saying "There are women that I don’t get along with, and that’s fine. My thing is, don’t brand yourself a feminist if you don’t do the work. I have an immense amount of respect for women like Lena Dunham … or Beyoncé, who make amazing political statements through their work,” and when she was asked more specifically about her beef with Swift she said “I’m not going to stop saying what I believe in. I have no problem standing up for myself.” It is good to stand up for what you believe but my hope is that these two ladies can eventually agree to disagree on their approach but still find a common ground! I love both of them and hope they can call a truths! Demi also candidly revealed about her life before sobriet and a time where she said she couldn’t even go an hour without using cocaine! Saying "Prior to getting sober, I was one of those people who was like, I don't give a f---, whatever. And I used that as an excuse to do whatever I wanted. I was a nightmare to work with." Looking back at her downward spiral in 2010, Lovato described herself as B and a c- u- n-t. But fast forward to the present, she really has turned over a new leaf. She just celebrated her four-year sobriety anniversary in March. These days she's advocating for the mentally ill, speaking up for LGBT rights and about to embark on her Future Now Tour with childhood friend Nick Jonas.
