Foxtel Play Review - We Review Foxtel's Online Streaming Service
Australia’s biggest cable TV company now offers a new streamlined
IPTV service called
Foxtel Play
This new service can be availed by customers with no-contract subscription, updated packages, and at the lowest prices. It does an excellent job for a person seeking Foxtel but doesn’t want to be boxed into a complicated, locked-in cable subscription.
Stream Foxtel in just a few clicks
Foxtel Play streams TV over the internet, allowing you to watch on a range of different devices.
Whether you want to enjoy
Live TV, or catch up on a
TV show or movie on demand, all you need is a compatible device and an internet connection to get started.
You can register up to three devices to your Foxtel Play account (only one Xbox
360 and one Xbox One), watch on two devices at the same time, and you can even change your device choices once a month.
Plus, you can take your TV with you on your compatible smartphone or tablet with the Foxtel Go app - included as part of your subscription (Foxtel Go devices count towards your device limit).
oxtel
Play uses the internet to stream TV content to your chosen device. You should verify that your current internet plan provides enough data usage per month (how much you download) and sufficient data speed (how quickly things download) to support your viewing habits and ensure you get the best experience possible.
Your current internet service provider (
ISP) will be able to provide your current data plan.
Data usage per month is typically measured in GB (Gigabytes) and speed is usually measured in Mbps (
Megabytes per second). We recommend a minimum internet data speed of at least
3.0 Mbps or above when watching Foxtel Play.
The amount of data consumed while watching Foxtel Play can vary by device, but the maximum data required per hour is 1310MB.
Did you know, Foxtel Play is unmetered on Foxtel Broadband?
You can enjoy all your favourite shows with no data download limits on Foxtel Play or Foxtel Go when connected to Foxtel Broadband.
This week we will be

The Foxtel Play home screen is divided into two main panels: the Live TV screen, and Catch-Up. The Live TV section shows all the channels available on Play. The channels that aren’t included in your subscription are greyed out in the list.
Catch up TV in the home screen prominently displays the featured content. You can apply a number of filters on this section like searching alphabetically or by the channels you subscribe to.
Live sports
Streaming
Foxtel Play offers supreme access to your favourite sporting events on
Fox Sports,
ESPN and other channels. This year the fixtures available for live online streaming include more
NRL matches than ever, world-class
Cricket, featured
NBA games each week, the
AFL Premierships, the
Socceroos and much more.
Summary
The concept of Foxtel Play is really good. It makes the shows that we like more accessible and takes away the need for a cable subscription, which comes with a long contract. However, the full Foxtel Play experience can become very expensive.
Why not try Foxtel Play it for yourself, they offer a 2 week free trial for new customers. For more detailed information please see our full review at the link provided at compareTV.com.au
