Slovenian Girl (orig. Slovenka) is a 2009 Slovenian film directed by Damjan Kozole. Aleksandra, a twenty-three-year-old Slovenian, leads a double life: she is a respectable student and a call girl. The film stars Nina Ivanišin. Slovenian Girl was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 2009 and it was released theatrically in more than 30 countries, in US under the title A Call Girl. According to Moving Pictures Magazine, "the film is ultimately a fascinating study of free enterprise in free fall. In this mesmerizing chamber piece, director Damjan Kozole has contrived a new style of narrative to convey a view of capitalist culture at once outrageous and non-judgmental" (Shaz Bennett).
Ljubljana 2008. The time of the Slovenian presidency of the European Union. Aleksandra (Nina Ivanišin) is a 23-year-old English language student. She comes from a small town. Her parents are divorced. No one knows that Aleksandra runs personal ads under the nickname, “Slovenka” (The Slovenian Girl) and that prostitution is her secret source of income. She’s very good at manipulating others (including her father and ex-boyfriend), is an accomplished liar and a bit of a thief. She resents her mother and regards her as being selfish. Her ambition is to escape the banality of her home town and settle in the big city, but her clandestine job leads her to a dangerous encounter with local criminals.
DJ Wich (also known as Tomáš Pechlák) is a DJ who works the Czech/Slovkia hip-hop scene. He started DJing in 1998.
In 1993, DJ Wich met Indy and LA4 on a graffiti scene. In 1998 they formed Indy & Wich, where Indy performed as a rapper and DJ Wich as producer. They often work with rapper LA4 in live performances.
In 2002, they released their debut album My3. Their second album Hádej kdo… was nominated on Anděl in 2006. The following year they produced The Chronicles of Nomad with rapper Nironic.
In 2008, DJ Wich released his first solo album The Golden Touch with international stars like Lil Wayne, Talib Kweli, M.O.P, Kurupt and more.
He collaborated with Czech artists, including Orion, Hugo Toxxx, W518, LA4 and from the international Rasco, Rytmus, H16, Vec, and Nironic.

Damjan Kozole (born in 1964 in Brezice, Slovenia, then Yugoslavia) is one of the most recognized Slovenian filmmakers. He is a self made man who never attended film school. In his films, "some of the most raffish, funky and even sordid characters discover their own humanity" (Alissa Simon, Variety). Sight & Sound ranked his Spare Parts among ten most important films of the New Europe. In 2005, a Damjan Kozole film retrospective took place in the United States and Canada, hosted by the American Film Institute.
His 2003 feature film Spare Parts tells a story of two human traffickers from a small town in Slovenia who transport illegal migrants from Croatia on to the Western Europe, for a hefty fee. The film was premiered in the Competition Programme at Berlinale 2003 and following that at more than fifty international film festivals, where it won many international awards. It was released theatrically in more than 20 countries. According to The Guardian, "Slovenian writer-director Damjan Kozole has given us one of the most powerful and provocative movies of the year" (Peter Bradshaw). 2008 Sight & Sound ranked Spare Parts among ten most important films of the “New Europe”.
Alexandra is a student from Krsko, a small town in Slovenia, while she studies the English language in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. She has a plan to conquer the world. Working as a prostitute, her life is heading to where she wants it, but an accidental death has her wrestling with new feelings of fear, loneliness, confusion and responsibility.

Plot: A young man from the banks of the Ibar River goes to the revolutionary war. It turns out to be one of the key moments that will later leave marks on his life. The war conflict runs along with his intimate, internal conflicts of his own. He feels the need to think as a human being despite the horrors surrounding him. Such is the deeply embedded need of this man - the need for love, understanding and justice.
