A goods train got derailed near Karanjadi on konkan railway network in western Maharashtra, India.
The goods train was loaded with rice and wheat. Thankfully there was no damage to human lives.

*Yes, I KNOW 9 is not a prime number - I blame the sun (too much of)* Now called the 'Mixed Freight' set, this train set is Hornby's defacto DCC beginner's set - featuring 2x DCC factory fitted locomotives, a small rake of rolling stock, some track and of course - a DCC controller. Whilst the overall quality of the set is far from premium, for someone wanting to enter the world of DCC, this set makes for a great stepping stone.

On Saturday 9th January 1999, No. 36 goods traveling north from Hobart to Burnie in the Australian State of Tasmania, derailed at Chigwell in Hobart's northern suburbs.
The derailment was apparently caused by a track buckle in a timber-sleepered section that had been replaced by steel sleepers earlier that week.
The wobbly track seen towards the end was straight before the train ran over it - except for a slight track buckle/kink that was probably caused by heat (January is high summer in Australia).
Although the actual derailment isn't seen, it's graphically heard at (2:50) and (2:56) when bogies from a loaded wagon (blue containers) jump the track and leave a trail of track devastation for about a kilometre.
The loco. crew didn't realise until a witness contacted Train Control which in turn contacted them. By the time the train stopped at Austins Ferry, 9 wagons had come off the track.
The locomotives are four English-Electric diesel-electric locomotives built in Queensland for use in Tasmania in the early 1970s (2118 -ex ZA6, 2111 -ex Z2 "Bell Bay Pioneer", 2110 -ex Z1 "Northern Progress" , & 2112 -ex Z 3). They did not come off the track.

YES, This is one of the longest train in India, Seen here are two frieght trains attached back to back, The train is powered by 4 locomotives, 2 in the begining and 2 in the middle, It runs between Bangalore Whitefield(SGT) and Dharmawaram(DMM), There is no station or platform which can accomodate this train in its journey, hence this train has higher priority during its run, this train is not made to stop any where, Indian Railways term this as I.V.L - Increased Vehicle length.

New Style of Trasporting a Car. Presenting an EMD UDL [Andal] WDG4 # 12937 as power of BCACBM rake crossing mighty bagra tawa river bridge with full aggression.
The new rake, with its height adjustable middle-deck, is highly flexible and can transport vehicles of multiple dimensions. The new rake can move at speed of up to 95 km per hour as compared to 65 km per hour of the existing rakes. It can travel between Gurgaon and Bangalore in five days as compared to seven days by road transportation. Transporting cars by new flexi deck auto-wagon rake will lead to reduction in carbon emission making it more environment friendly.
Maruti Suzuki is India's first automobile company to procure flexi deck auto-wagon rakes. It has initially procured three such rakes of 27 wagons each. These rakes will be primarily deployed in the high-volume west and south India destinations.
In the long term, the company will dispatch cars through railways to several destinations like Nagpur, Siliguri, Mumbai, Pune, Mundra, Kolkata etc. Maruti Suzuki will order more rakes to meet its growing transportation requirement.

and, since 2010, Railroads played a large role in the development of the United States from the industrial revolution in the North-east 1810--50 to the colonization of the West 1850--1890. The American railroad mania began with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in 1828 and flourished until the Panic of 1873 bankrupted many companies and temporarily ended growth.
Although the South started early to build railways, it concentrated on short lines linking cotton regions to oceanic or river ports, and the absence of an interconnected network was a major handicap during the Civil War. The North and Midwest constructed networks that linked every city by 1860. In the heavily settled Midwestern Corn Belt, over 80 percent of farms were within 5 miles (8 km) of a railway, facilitating the shipment of grain, hogs and cattle to national and international markets. A large number of short lines were built, but thanks to a fast developing financial system based on Wall Street and oriented to railway bonds, the majority were consolidated into 20 trunk lines by 1890. State and local governments often subsidized lines, but rarely owned them.
The system was largely built by 1910, but then trucks arrived to eat away the freight traffic, and automobiles (and later airplanes) to devour the passenger traffic. The use of diesel electric locomotives (after 1940) made for much more efficient operations that needed fewer workers on the road and in repair shops.
A series of bankruptcies and consolidations left the rail system in the hands of a few large operations by the 1980s. Almost all long-distance passenger traffic was shifted to Amtrak in 1971, a government owned operation. Commuter rail service is provided near a few major cities such as New York and Chicago. Computerization and improved equipment steadily reduced employment, which peaked at 2.1 million in 1920, falling to 1.2 million in 1950 and 215,000 in 2010. Route mileage peaked at 254,251 miles (409,177 km) in 1916 and fell to 139,679 miles (224,792 km) in 2011.[1]
Freight railroads continue to play an important role in the United States' economy, especially for moving imports and exports using containers, and for shipments of coal of oil. According to the British news magazine The Economist, "They are universally recognised in the industry as the best in the world." [2] Productivity rose 172% between 1981 and 2000, while rates rose 55% (after accounting for inflation). Rail's share of the American freight market rose to 43%, the highest for any rich country.[3]

A freight train or goods train is a group of freight cars (US) or goods wagons (UIC) hauled by one or more locomotives on a railway, ultimately transporting cargo between two points as part of the logistics chain. Trains may haul bulk material, intermodal containers, general freight or specialized freight in purpose-designed cars.
When considered in terms of ton-miles (tonne-kilometers) hauled per unit of consumed energy, rail transport is more efficient than other means of transportation. Additional economies are often realized with bulk commodities (e.g., coal), especially when hauled over long distances. However, rail freight is often subject to transshipment costs, which may exceed that of operating the train itself, a factor that practices such as containerization aim to minimize. Bulk shipments are less affected by transshipment costs, with distances as short as 30 kilometers (18.6 mi) sufficient to make rail transport economically viable. However, shipment by rail is not as flexible as by highway, which has resulted in much freight being hauled by truck, even over long distances.

Whilst the overall quality of the set is far from premium, for someone wanting to enter the world of DCC, this set makes for a great stepping stone. -

Goods Train Derailment (1999)
On Saturday 9th January 1999, No. 36 goods traveling north from Hobart to Burnie in the Australian State of Tasmania, derailed at Chigwell in Hobart's northern suburbs. The derailment was apparently caused by a track buckle in a timber-sleepered section that had been replaced by steel sleepers earlier that week. The wobbly track seen towards the end was straight before the train ran over it - except for a slight track buckle/kink that was probably caused by heat (January is high summer in Australia). Although the actual derailment isn't seen, it's graphically heard at (2:50) and (2:56) when bogies from a loaded wagon (blue containers) jump the track and leave a trail of track devastation for about a kilometre. On Saturday 9th January 1999, No. 36 goods traveling north from Hobart to Burnie in the Australian State of Tasmania, derailed at Chigwell in Hobart's northern suburbs.

The loco. crew didn't realise until a witness contacted Train Control which in turn contacted them. By the time the train stopped at Austins Ferry, 9 wagons had come off the track.
The locomotives are four English-Electric diesel-electric locomotives built in Queensland for use in Tasmania in the early 1970s (2118 -ex ZA6, 2111 -ex Z2 "Bell Bay Pioneer", 2110 -ex Z1 "Northern Progress" , & 2112 -ex Z 3). They did not come off the track.

On Saturday 9th January 1999, No. 36 goods traveling north from Hobart to Burnie in the Australian State of Tasmania, derailed at Chigwell in Hobart's northern suburbs.
The derailment was apparently caused by a track buckle in a timber-sleepered section that had been replaced by steel sleepers earlier that week.
The wobbly track seen towards the end was straight before the train ran over it - except for a slight track buckle/kink that was probably caused by heat (January is high summer in Australia).
Although the actual derailment isn't seen, it's graphically heard at (2:50) and (2:56) when bogies from a loaded wagon (blue containers) jump the track and leave a trail of track devastation for about a kilometre.
The loco. crew didn't realise until a witness contacted Train Control which in turn contacted them. By the time the train stopped at Austins Ferry, 9 wagons had come off the track.
The locomotives are four English-Electric diesel-electric locomotives built in Queensland for use in Tasmania in the early 1970s (2118 -ex ZA6, 2111 -ex Z2 "Bell Bay Pioneer", 2110 -ex Z1 "Northern Progress" , & 2112 -ex Z 3). They did not come off the track.

The new rake, with its height adjustable middle-deck, is highly flexible and can transport vehicles of multiple dimensions. The new rake can move at speed of up to 95 km per hour as compared to 65 km per hour of the existing rakes. It can travel between Gurgaon and Bangalore in five days as compared to seven days by road transportation. Transporting cars by new flexi deck auto-wagon rake will lead to reduction in carbon emission making it more environment friendly.
Maruti Suzuki is India's first automobile company to procure flexi deck auto-wagon rakes. It has initially procured three such rakes of 27 wagons each. These rakes will be primarily deployed in the high-volume west and south India destinations.
In the long term, the company will dispatch cars through railways to several destinations like Nagpur, Siliguri, Mumbai, Pune, Mundra, Kolkata etc. Maruti Suzuki will order more rakes to meet its growing transportation requirement.

Although the South started early to build railways, it concentrated on short lines linking cotton regions to oceanic or river ports, and the absence of an interconnected network was a major handicap during the Civil War. The North and Midwest constructed networks that linked every city by 1860. In the heavily settled Midwestern Corn Belt, over 80 percent of farms were within 5 miles (8 km) of a railway, facilitating the shipment of grain, hogs and cattle to national and international markets. A large number of short lines were built, but thanks to a fast developing financial system based on Wall Street and oriented to railway bonds, the majority were consolidated into 20 trunk lines by 1890. State and local governments often subsidized lines, but rarely owned them.
The system was largely built by 1910, but then trucks arrived to eat away the freight traffic, and automobiles (and later airplanes) to devour the passenger traffic. The use of diesel electric locomotives (after 1940) made for much more efficient operations that needed fewer workers on the road and in repair shops.
A series of bankruptcies and consolidations left the rail system in the hands of a few large operations by the 1980s. Almost all long-distance passenger traffic was shifted to Amtrak in 1971, a government owned operation. Commuter rail service is provided near a few major cities such as New York and Chicago. Computerization and improved equipment steadily reduced employment, which peaked at 2.1 million in 1920, falling to 1.2 million in 1950 and 215,000 in 2010. Route mileage peaked at 254,251 miles (409,177 km) in 1916 and fell to 139,679 miles (224,792 km) in 2011.[1]
Freight railroads continue to play an important role in the United States' economy, especially for moving imports and exports using containers, and for shipments of coal of oil. According to the British news magazine The Economist, "They are universally recognised in the industry as the best in the world." [2] Productivity rose 172% between 1981 and 2000, while rates rose 55% (after accounting for inflation). Rail's share of the American freight market rose to 43%, the highest for any rich country.[3]

(I was having problems with the Trainz loads so please excuse the empty goods cars...) After a mere 14 days in production, I proudly present the first official episode of Thomas & Trainz with the voice acting help of many people listed below. In this first episode, we see the number one blue tank engine go on his first adventure being sent to a town far away. After be told to go slow by the Fat Controller, Thomas later has an incident with some trucks heading downhill running out of control. Will the driver regain control of the train or will it end in Thomas' heading off the track?

I may have gotten a little over excited with my newfound goods capabilities as I roll out a new line in seconds. Pretty sure nothing will go wrong.
This playthrough is aiming to go big with cities, growing as many to a large size as possible. I'm playing on a large map with all settings on medium using the USA landscape with European vehicles. Chances are we'll be adding mods along the way.

Train tracks usually consist of two running rails, sometimes supplemented by additional rails such as electric conducting rails and rack rails, with a limited number of monorails and maglev guideways in the mix.[1] The word 'train' comes from the Old French trahiner, from the Latin trahere 'pull, draw'.[2]
There are various types of trains that are designed for particular purposes. A train may consist of a combination of one or more locomotives and attached railroad cars, or a self-propelled multiple unit (or occasionally a single or articulated powered coach, called a railcar). In most countries, such as the United Kingdom, the distinction between a tramway and a railway is precise and defined in law. The term light rail is sometimes used for a modern tram system, but it may also mean an intermediate form between a tram and a train, similar to a heavy rail rapid transit system except that it may have level crossings.
A freight train (also known as a goods train) uses freight cars (also known as wagons or trucks) to transport goods or materials (cargo). Freight and passengers may be carried in the same train in a mixed consist.
Rail cars and machinery used for maintenance and repair of tracks, etc., are termed maintenance of way equipment; these may be assembled into maintenance of way trains. Similarly, dedicated trains may be used to provide support services to stations along a train line, such as garbage or revenue collection.

Let's build Lego City Freight Train and enjoy the brilliance of the Lego train system that's completely awesome. This Lego train is 60052 and you could class it as a mixed freight train. There is a small freight terminal for loading and unloading the freight train, but possibly the most awesome aspect is the cattle car. I'm unsure if this carries a cow or a bull, the horns have me very confused. Sadly the battery compartment to this $300 (Australian price) toy needed fixing, this is not the first time I have had problems with the Lego Power Functions battery packs. Early Saturday morning Dominic and I got up at 5am to go railfanning the BNSF Transcon aka The Marceline Subdivision. It wasn't long for our first train of the morning when we showed up at the station. It was a busy day of a total of 42 trains from 5am to 11pm. We could have seen more but we were out doing other stuff. Dominic and I were on a radio show at the famous Lookout Point. The raido show was called "Lets Talk Trains". It was our first time being on that show or any radio show. It did rain that day but that didn't stop us from having fun watching trains and besides it didn't rain most of the day. Everyone can build a goods line in Train Fever, but how possible is it to do in 10 minutes? For reasons I don't fully understand I decide to do just that.
This playthrough is aiming to go big with cities, growing as many to a large size as possible. I'm playing on a large map with all settings on medium using the USA landscape with European vehicles. Chances are we'll be adding mods along the way.
Train Fever is a railroad-focused business simulation game. In other words, it's a modern-day Transport Tycoon with procedural content and a sophisticated city simulation.

Let's build Lego City Freight Train and enjoy the brilliance of the Lego train system that's completely awesome. This Lego train is 60052 and you could class it as a mixed freight train. There is a small freight terminal for loading and unloading the freight train, but possibly the most awesome aspect is the cattle car. I'm unsure if this carries a cow or a bull, the horns have me very confused. Sadly the battery compartment to this $300 (Australian price) toy needed fixing, this is not the first time I have had problems with the Lego Power Functions battery packs. I did not ignore this problem because I feel it's very important to say it as I see it, I do toy reviews, not toy ad's. Lego need to look very carefully at the design of the Power Functions battery pack, especially the positive terminals and size of the hole to accept big name brand AAA batteries.

So it’s your job to make sure the cargo is in the right place at the right time to keep the city running smoothly. Attach the cattle wagon and 2 cargo wagons together and pull them around the circular rail track with the locomotive. Operate the forklift to move the pallets safely between the wagons and truck. Early Saturday morning Dominic and I got up at 5am to go railfanning the BNSF Transcon aka The Marceline Subdivision. It wasn't long for our first train of the morning when we showed up at the station. It was a busy day of a total of 42 trains from 5am to 11pm. We could have seen more but we were out doing other stuff. Dominic and I were on a radio show at the famous Lookout Point. The raido show was called "Lets Talk Trains". It was our first time being on that show or any radio show. It did rain that day but that didn't stop us from having fun watching trains and besides it didn't rain most of the day. It was chilly too probaly in the mid 50s. We kept warm and dry at the Lookout Point. Dominic and I had the Lookout Point hot as hell in there lol. We stayed in La Plata till Sunday.

Early Saturday morning Dominic and I got up at 5am to go railfanning the BNSF Transcon aka The Marceline Subdivision. It wasn't long for our first train of the morning when we showed up at the station. It was a busy day of a total of 42 trains from 5am to 11pm. We could have seen more but we were out doing other stuff. Dominic and I were on a radio show at the famous Lookout Point. The raido show was called "Lets Talk Trains". It was our first time being on that show or any radio show. It did rain that day but that didn't stop us from having fun watching trains and besides it didn't rain most of the day. It was chilly too probaly in the mid 50s. We kept warm and dry at the Lookout Point. Dominic and I had the Lookout Point hot as hell in there lol. We stayed in La Plata till Sunday.
