About

Café Racer is the definition of a Canadian rock and roll band, composed of three members hailing from three different provinces: Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. Assembled in the vibrant city of Montreal, their grassroots approach reflects a real love for music and artistic performance. Josh met Shawn as a last minute addition to a talent show in Champlain College while Myles and Josh became acquainted through mutual friends studying at McGill University. Josh and Shawn’s love for music fused with Myles’ songwriting and experience in the Manitoba music scene to form the early beginnings of the band. After experimenting with a few different lineups in Josh’s parents’ basement, the three-piece band moved to the legendary 1180 Saint Antoine and spent an entire summer writing, practicing and sweating out original music. Three years later, the group is recognized as one of Montreal’s young, up and coming rock and roll bands. The epitome of a front man, Myles’ long hair and aggressive stage antics are a distinct element of Café Racer’s “captivating stage presence". Shawn's "appropriately fuzzy and inventive bass lines" laid over Josh's "highly entertaining and precise" drumming come together with Myles’ wailing guitar and howling vocals to create a refreshing sound and highly energetic live show.

Café Racer is back in full force this year with two brand new songs, “Circus Girl” and “One Way Street”, showcasing their wide array of musical styles which range from early garage to grooving funk with a hint of jazz and blues. These new recordings were followed by a successful crowdfunding campaign for a wildly ambitious music video, featuring over thirty burlesque dancers and circus performers at The Wiggle Room, a renowned local cabaret. The music video was released at Montreal’s storied Belmont in an event that also featured live burlesque and circus performance. The video was produced by Cannes nominated director Chris Rob, who also directed Café Racers' first music video “Molly Doesn’t Move Anymore”, and was met with roaring approval on social media from new and original fans alike. Together, these two videos showcase the broad rock and roll spectrum that is Café Racer. With plans to bring their rock and roll antics to the Toronto region and continue to spearhead a bold new rock scene in Montreal with the likes of their good pals Frisky Kids, Po Lazarus and The History of Gunpowder, Café Racer is poised to take the Canadian music industry by storm.
