RSS was founded in 1925 by dr
Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.
He started rss with 4 members and now rss is world largest voluntary non-governmental organisation with more than 90 million members
RSS has no branch .RSS membership has no identity card or business card
and it run by its own members. There are no hard and fast rules for RSS members.
Anyone can walk in or walk out anytime
In
1947,
Mahatma Gandhi had addressed a RSS rally. The rally was held in the Sweeper's
Colony in
Delhi where he also fielded questions posed by Swayamsevaks.
in 1962 During the
Indo-China war, when the traffic police were on the border and the
country ran out of the police, only RSS volunteers came
forward to help the country by acting as traffic controllers on every traffic post.
1963 Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru had officially invited RSS to participate in indian
Republic Day parade as the organization helped the
Indian civilians and soldiers in the year 1962. and
Nearly 3500 rss members marched in the parade.
RSS has been banned 4 times by now. As many had speculated,
RSS was banned under the
British rule as they did not want any
nationalistic voice to grow in
India.

RSS has two setups -
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is a part of the male organization and
Rashtra Sevika Samiti for the females. Both have the same values and intentions.

Narendra Modi the current indian prime minister both are member of RSS
