With his partner Gene Siskel, Roger Ebert took film review out of the hands of rarefied critics. The long-running syndicated television show reviewing movies the two created was the most popular program of its kind and its popularity is unlikely to ever be duplicated. Ebert won numerous journalistic awards including a Pulitzer Prize. Milo O'Shea was the versatile Irish actor who did everything from American television to the British stage. He was especially memorable as Durand Durand in the 1968 farce, Barbarella, opposite Jane Fonda. Jimmy O'Neill was the successful Los Angeles disc jockey who went on to host the classic rock and roll television program Shindig! He also owned Pandora's Box, the LA night club where the infamous 1966 Sunset Strip riots occurred.
Roger Joseph Ebert (pron.: /ˈiːbərt/; June 18, 1942 -- April 4, 2013) was an American film critic, journalist and screenwriter. He was a film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times from 1967 until his death.[12] In 1975, he was the first film critic to win the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism.[13] As of 2010, his reviews were syndicated to more than 200 newspapers in the United States and abroad. Ebert also published more than 20 books and dozens of collections of reviews.
Ebert and Chicago Tribune critic Gene Siskel helped popularize nationally televised film reviewing when they co-hosted the PBS show Sneak Previews, followed by several variously named At the Movies programs. The two verbally sparred and traded humorous barbs while discussing films. They created and trademarked the phrase "Two Thumbs Up," used when both hosts gave the same film a positive review. After Siskel died in 1999, Ebert continued hosting the show with Richard Roeper.
In 2005, Ebert became the first film critic to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.[13] Neil Steinberg of the Chicago Sun-Times said Ebert "was without question the nation's most prominent and influential film critic",[1] Tom Van Riper of Forbes described him as "the most powerful pundit in America",[14] and Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times called him "the best known film critic in America".[15]
Ebert lived with cancer of the thyroid and salivary glands from 2002. He continued to publish frequently both online and in print until shortly before his death on April 4, 2013.
O'Shea starred as Leopold Bloom in Joseph Strick's 1967 film version of Ulysses. Among his other memorable film roles in the 1960s were as the well-intentioned Friar Laurence in Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet and as the villainous Dr. Durand Durand (who tries to kill Jane Fonda's character by making her literally die of pleasure) in Roger Vadim's counterculture classic Barbarella (both films were released in 1968). In 1984, O'Shea reprised his role as Dr. Durand Durand (credited as Dr. Duran Duran) for the Duran Duran concert film Arena, since his character inspired the band's name. He played Inspector Boot in the 1973 Vincent Price horror film Theatre of Blood.
O'Neill was born in Enid, Oklahoma.[2] After taking a broadcasting class at Enid High School, he began his career in radio in Oklahoma City, OK. One year later O'Neill landed a job at KQV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at age 19.[3] He also worked at WCAE. He was hired at KRLA in Los Angeles, CA a year after working at KQV. He and his show were depicted on The Flintstones television animated sitcom in the season six episode "Shinrock A Go-Go," which originally aired on December 3, 1965. This episode featured O'Neill, as "Jimmy O'Neillstone", hosting the Bedrock analogue of Shindig, called "Shinrock"; that program featured as one of the guest performers The Beau Brummels (as "The Beau Brummelstones") performing their recent hit, Laugh, Laugh.
At the Movies (originally Siskel and Ebert and The Movies, and later At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper) is a movie review television program produced by Disney-ABC Domestic Television in which two film critics shared their opinions of newly released films. Sir Christopher Lee, the veteran actor and star of many of the world's biggest film franchises, has died aged 93.
The English-born actor, who made his name playing Dracula and Frankenstein in the Hammer horror films, appeared in more than 250 movies.
He was best-known for his villainous roles - including Scaramanga in James Bond and evil wizard Saruman in The Lord of the Rings.
The actor's other credits include The Wicker Man and Star Wars.
The actor is reported to have died on Sunday at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London after being hospitalised for respiratory problems and heart failure.
He was knighted in 2009 for services to drama and charity and was awarded a Bafta fellowship in 2011.
Born into an affluence in London in 1922, Sir Christopher traced his lineage to Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor.
After public school he served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.
His screen career began when he joined the Rank Organisation in 1947, training as an actor in their so-called "charm school".
It was his association with British studio Hammer that made him a household name, playing characters such as Frankenstein's Monster, The Mummy and Dracula in the late 1950s.
Sir Christopher Lee would go on to reprise the trademark vampire role in a number of sequels before finally laying him to rest in the 1970s.
His 6ft 5in frame and pointed features often typecast him as a bad guy. His distant cousin Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond books, wanted him to play Dr No in the film of the same name - but that role went to Joseph Wiseman.
Lee eventually starred as Scaramanga in 1974's The Man With The Golden Gun.
He also played Fu Manchu in a series of films in the 1960s.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Star Wars prequels - in which he was the nefarious Count Dooku - were the most successful films of his career from a commercial standpoint.
He also demonstrated his versatility in comedies like 1941 and Gremlins 2.
His other films include 1959's The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Three Musketeers (1973), and Jinnah - which he considered to be one of his most important films. (1997).
Sir Christopher also worked with director Tim Burton on films including Sleepy Hollow (1999), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) and Alice in Wonderland (2010), in which he voiced the Jabberwocky.
"I've appeared in so many films that were ahead of their time - some of them were very good," the actor told the BBC News website in 2001. "Some weren't."
A lover of opera, Sir Christopher launched his singing career in the 1990s, with an album of Broadway tunes, including I Stole The Prince from Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers, and Epiphany from Sweeney Todd.
He also enjoyed an unlikely heavy metal career. In 2010, his album Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross won a Spirit of Metal Award from Metal Hammer magazine.

(1923), with a character performing a daredevil stunt on the side of a skyscraper. Alfred Hitchcock and Fritz Lang helped to shape the modern-day thriller genre beginning with The Lodger (1926) and M (1931), respectively.[2]

Vincent Leonard Price, Jr. (May 27, 1911 – October 25, 1993) was an American actor, well known for his distinctive voice and performances in horror films. His career spanned other genres, including film noir, drama, mystery, thriller, and comedy. He appeared on stage, television, radio, and in over one hundred films. He has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: one for motion pictures, and one for television.
Price was an art collector and consultant, with a degree in art history. He lectured and wrote books on the subject. He was the founder of the Vincent Price Art Museum in California.
Early life and career
Price was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the youngest of the four children of Vincent Leonard Price, Sr. (1871-1948), president of the National Candy Company, and his wife Marguerite Cobb (née Wilcox) Price (1874-1946). His grandfather, Vincent Clarence Price, invented "Dr. Price's Baking Powder", the first cream of tartar based baking powder, and secured the family's fortune. Price was a descendant of Peregrine White, a first born child in Colonial Massachusetts.

Jean Jimmy Alexandre (March 9, 1974(1974-03-09) – January 12, 2010(2010-01-12)), better known by his stage name Jimmy O, was a Haitian hip hop artist who was born in Port-au-Prince and lived in New York City. He was involved with Wyclef Jean's Yéle Haiti Foundation. Jimmy O performed his music in Haitian Creole.
In 2006, he and Jean held a hip-hop performance in the Bel Air suburb of Port-au-Prince that was part of the USAID-funded Clean Streets project. The following year, he and other Haitian artists held a concert in the Champ de Mars, the largest public square in the capital, along with Wyclef Jean, Akon, and Matt Damon.
On January 12, 2010, at age 35, Jimmy O was crushed inside a vehicle he was apparently driving in downtown Port-au-Prince during the 2010 Haiti earthquake. His mother, his wife, two of his three children, his agent, and a CNN crew were present when Jimmy O's body was discovered and identified three days later. His agent said that the loss of Jimmy O "will be tremendous in Haiti."

Sir Christopher Lee, the veteran actor and star of many of the world's biggest film franchises, has died aged 93. The English-born actor, who made his name playing Dracula and Frankenstein in the Hammer horror films, appeared in more than 250 movies. He was best-known for his villainous roles - including Scaramanga in James Bond and evil wizard Saruman in The Lord of the Rings. The actor's other credits include The Wicker Man and Star Wars. The actor is reported to have died on Sunday at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London after being hospitalised for respiratory problems and heart failure. He was knighted in 2009 for services to drama and charity and was awarded a Bafta fellowship in 2011. Born into an affluence in London in 1922, Sir Christopher traced his lineage to Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor. After public school he served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches. His screen career began when he joined the Rank Organisation in 1947, training as an actor in their so-called "charm school". It was his association with British studio Hammer that made him a household name, playing characters such as Frankenstein's Monster, The Mummy and Dracula in the late 1950s. Sir Christopher Lee would go on to reprise the trademark vampire role in a number of sequels before finally laying him to rest in the 1970s. His 6ft 5in frame and pointed features often typecast him as a bad guy. His distant cousin Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond books, wanted him to play Dr No in the film of the same name - but that role went to Joseph Wiseman. Lee eventually starred as Scaramanga in 1974's The Man With The Golden Gun. He also played Fu Manchu in a series of films in the 1960s. The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Star Wars prequels - in which he was the nefarious Count Dooku - were the most successful films of his career from a commercial standpoint. He also demonstrated his versatility in comedies like 1941 and Gremlins 2. His other films include 1959's The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Three Musketeers (1973), and Jinnah - which he considered to be one of his most important films. (1997). Sir Christopher also worked with director Tim Burton on films including Sleepy Hollow (1999), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) and Alice in Wonderland (2010), in which he voiced the Jabberwocky. "I've appeared in so many films that were ahead of their time - some of them were very good," the actor told the BBC News website in 2001. "Some weren't." A lover of opera, Sir Christopher launched his singing career in the 1990s, with an album of Broadway tunes, including I Stole The Prince from Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers, and Epiphany from Sweeney Todd. Roger Joseph Ebert (pron.: /ˈiːbərt/; June 18, 1942 -- April 4, 2013) was an American film critic, journalist and screenwriter. He was a film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times from 1967 until his death.[12] In 1975, he was the first film critic to win the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism.[13] As of 2010, his reviews were syndicated to more than 200 newspapers in the United States and abroad. Ebert also published more than 20 books and dozens of collections of reviews.
Ebert and Chicago Tribune critic Gene Siskel helped popularize nationally televised film reviewing when they co-hosted the PBS show Sneak Previews, followed by several variously named At the Movies programs. The two verbally sparred and traded humorous barbs while discussing films. They created and trademarked the phrase "Two Thumbs Up," used when both hosts gave the same film a positive review. After Siskel died in 1999, Ebert continued hosting the show with Richard Roeper.
In 2005, Ebert became the first film critic to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.[13] Neil Steinberg of the Chicago Sun-Times said Ebert "was without question the nation's most prominent and influential film critic",[1] Tom Van Riper of Forbes described him as "the most powerful pundit in America",[14] and Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times called him "the best known film critic in America".[15]
Ebert lived with cancer of the thyroid and salivary glands from 2002. He continued to publish frequently both online and in print until shortly before his death on April 4, 2013.
O'Shea starred as Leopold Bloom in Joseph Strick's 1967 film version of Ulysses. Among his other memorable film roles in the 1960s were as the well-intentioned Friar Laurence in Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet and as the villainous Dr. Durand Durand (who tries to kill Jane Fonda's character by making her literally die of pleasure) in Roger Vadim's counterculture classic Barbarella (both films were released in 1968). In 1984, O'Shea reprised his role as Dr. Durand Durand (credited as Dr. Duran Duran) for the Duran Duran concert film Arena, since his character inspired the band's name. He played Inspector Boot in the 1973 Vincent Price horror film Theatre of Blood.
O'Neill was born in Enid, Oklahoma.[2] After taking a broadcasting class at Enid High School, he began his career in radio in Oklahoma City, OK. One year later O'Neill landed a job at KQV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at age 19.[3] He also worked at WCAE. He was hired at KRLA in Los Angeles, CA a year after working at KQV. O'Neill was the first voice heard on KRLA-AM when it switched from country-western format for rock music and top 40.[4] He worked at KRLA-AM (1959-1962). O'Neill then worked at worked at KFWB from 1963 to 1967 and at KDAY from 1969 to 1971. He also hosted The Jimmy O'Neill Show on KCOP-TV.
After O'Neill moved to Los Angeles, Chuck Barris, then ABC's daytime programming executive, green-lit the pilot for Shindig!. With his partner Gene Siskel, Roger Ebert took film review out of the hands of rarefied critics. The long-running syndicated television show reviewing movies the two created was the most popular program of its kind and its popularity is unlikely to ever be duplicated. Ebert won numerous journalistic awards including a Pulitzer Prize. Milo O'Shea was the versatile Irish actor who did everything from American television to the British stage. He was especially memorable as Durand Durand in the 1968 farce, Barbarella, opposite Jane Fonda. Jimmy O'Neill was the successful Los Angeles disc jockey who went on to host the classic rock and roll television program Shindig! He also owned Pandora's Box, the LA night club where the infamous 1966 Sunset Strip riots occurred.
Roger Joseph Ebert (pron.: /ˈiːbərt/; June 18, 1942 -- April 4, 2013) was an American film critic, journalist and screenwriter. He was a film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times from 1967 until his death.[12] In 1975, he was the first film critic to win the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism.[13] As of 2010, his reviews were syndicated to more than 200 newspapers in the United States and abroad. Ebert also published more than 20 books and dozens of collections of reviews.
Ebert and Chicago Tribune critic Gene Siskel helped popularize nationally televised film reviewing when they co-hosted the PBS show Sneak Previews, followed by several variously named At the Movies programs. In 2005, Ebert became the first film critic to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.[13] Neil Steinberg of the Chicago Sun-Times said Ebert "was without question the nation's most prominent and influential film critic",[1] Tom Van Riper of Forbes described him as "the most powerful pundit in America",[14] and Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times called him "the best known film critic in America".[15]
Ebert lived with cancer of the thyroid and salivary glands from 2002. He continued to publish frequently both online and in print until shortly before his death on April 4, 2013.
O'Shea starred as Leopold Bloom in Joseph Strick's 1967 film version of Ulysses. Among his other memorable film roles in the 1960s were as the well-intentioned Friar Laurence in Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet and as the villainous Dr. Durand Durand (who tries to kill Jane Fonda's character by making her literally die of pleasure) in Roger Vadim's counterculture classic Barbarella (both films were released in 1968). In 1984, O'Shea reprised his role as Dr. Durand Durand (credited as Dr. Duran Duran) for the Duran Duran concert film Arena, since his character inspired the band's name. He played Inspector Boot in the 1973 Vincent Price horror film Theatre of Blood.
O'Neill was born in Enid, Oklahoma.[2] After taking a broadcasting class at Enid High School, he began his career in radio in Oklahoma City, OK. One year later O'Neill landed a job at KQV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at age 19.[3] He also worked at WCAE. He was hired at KRLA in Los Angeles, CA a year after working at KQV. He was hired at KRLA in Los Angeles, CA a year after working at KQV.
O'Neill was the first voice heard on KRLA-AM when it switched from country-western format for rock music and top 40.[4] He worked at KRLA-AM (1959-1962). O'Neill then worked at worked at KFWB from 1963 to 1967 and at KDAY from 1969 to 1971. He also hosted The Jimmy O'Neill Show on KCOP-TV.
After O'Neill moved to Los Angeles, Chuck Barris, then ABC's daytime programming executive, green-lit the pilot for Shindig!. When a disease turns all of humanity into the living dead, the last man on earth becomes a reluctant vampire hunter.
Plot (contains spoiler):
In the year 1968, every day is the same for Dr. Robert Morgan (Price): he wakes up, gathers his weapons and then goes hunting for vampires. Morgan lives in a world where everyone else has been infected by a plague that has turned them into undead, vampiric creatures that cannot stand sunlight, fear mirrors, and are repelled by garlic. They would kill Morgan if they could, but fortunately, they are weak and unintelligent. At night, Morgan locks himself inside his house; during the day, he kills as many vampires as he can, burning the bodies.
A flashback sequence explains that, three years before, Morgan's wife and daughter had succumbed to the plague, before it was widely known by the public that the dead would return to life. Instead of taking his wife to the same public burn pit used to dispose of his daughter's corpse, Morgan buried her without the knowledge of the authorities. When his wife returned to his home and attacked him, Morgan became aware of the need to kill the plague victims with a wooden stake. Morgan hypothesizes that he is immune to the bacteria because he was bitten by an infected vampire bat when he was stationed in Panama, which introduced a diluted form of the plague into his blood.
One day, a dog appears in the neighborhood. Desperate for companionship, Morgan chases after the dog but does not catch it. Some time later, the dog appears, wounded, at Morgan's doorstep. He takes the dog into his home and treats its wounds, looking forward to having company for the first time in three years. He quickly discovers, however, that it too has become infected with the plague. Morgan is later seen burying the dog, which he has impaled with a wooden stake.
After burying the dog Morgan spots a woman in the distance. The woman, Ruth, is terrified of Morgan at first sight, and runs from him. Morgan convinces her to return to his home, but is suspicious of her true nature. Ruth becomes ill when Morgan waves garlic in her face, but claims that she has a weak stomach.
Morgan's suspicion that Ruth is infected is confirmed when he discovers her attempting to inject herself with a combination of blood and vaccine that holds the disease at bay. Ruth initially draws a gun on Morgan, but surrenders it to him. Ruth then tells him that she is part of a group of people like her — infected but under treatment — and was sent to spy on Morgan. The vaccine allows the people to function normally with the drug in the bloodstream, but once it wears off, the infection takes over the body again. Ruth explains that her people are planning to rebuild society as they destroy the remaining vampires, and that many of the vampires Morgan killed were technically still alive.
While Ruth is asleep, Morgan transfuses his own blood into her. She is immediately cured, and Morgan sees hope that, together, they can cure the rest of her people. Moments later, however, Ruth's people attack. Morgan takes the gun and flees his home while the attackers kill the vampires gathered around Morgan's home.
Ruth's people spot Morgan and chase him. He exchanges gunfire with them, and picks up tear gas grenades from a police station armory along the way. While the tear gas delays his pursuers somewhat, Morgan is wounded by gunfire and retreats into a church. Despite Ruth's protests to let Morgan live, his pursuers finally impale him on the altar with a spear. With his dying breaths, Morgan denounces his pursuers as "freaks," and declares that he is the last true man on earth.

His career spanned other genres, including film noir, drama, mystery, thriller, and comedy. He appeared on stage, television, radio, and in over one hundred films. He has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: one for motion pictures, and one for television.
Price was also an art collector and consultant, with a degree in art history, and lectured and wrote books on the subject. He was the founder of the Vincent Price Art Museum in California.
Thriller is the sixth studio album by the American recording artist Michael Jackson. It was released on November 30, 1982, by Epic Records, as the follow-up to Jackson's critically and commercially successful 1979 album Off the Wall. Thriller explores similar genres to those of Off the Wall, including pop, R&B;, rock, post-disco, funk, and adult contemporary music.[1][2][3] Recording sessions took place on April to November 1982 at Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California with a production budget of $750,000, assisted by producer Quincy Jones.
