The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) sustains and transforms a wide range of heritage through innovative investment in projects with a lasting impact on people and places. As the largest dedicated funder of the UK's heritage, with around £375million a year to invest in new projects and a considerable body of knowledge, HLF are also a leading advocate for the value of heritage to modern life. From museums, parks and historic places to archaeology, natural environment and cultural traditions, HLF invest in every part of our heritage. Since 1994, HLF has supported over 33,000 projects allocating £4.97billion across the UK. Michael Murray joined HLF in 2009, managing the Development Team's pre-application support and community relations services. Prior to working with HLF, Michael was the London M...
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the National Lottery. This landmark has given the HLF a chance to join in the celebrations and sharing the difference lottery funding has made to our heritage over the last 15 years. Over that time HLFs funding has not only revitalised hundreds of museums, parks, historic buildings, landscapes and wildlife sites, but also given new meaning to heritage itself, involving people from every walk of life in the heritage that inspires them.
https://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/nitenth As part of our our 10th birthday celebration last year, we held a competition asking people to nominate a group that had changed their life through a project we funded. The response was overwhelming, with 301 people nominating 71 groups. Ten groups won grants of £10,000 each for important projects, and nine runners up won £2,000. We got in touch recently to hear how their projects have been progressing. The resulting 10th Birthday films and the stories the projects shared celebrate the great things people have done with Big Lottery Funding in Northern Ireland since 2004.

Chelmsford Civic Society released the following statement [mid October 2016] updating its Marconi Science WorX ambitions for the world's first wireless/radio factory in Hall Street: "We have had an interesting discussion at Heritage Lottery Fund, Cambridge and have been advised that to progress further we will need to complete the very detailed second stage of the application for submission by March 2017. HLF have cautioned that we will be up against very tough competition so it is a big decision for us to determine whether we have the commitment and horsepower necessary to mount this new campaign. We also had a meeting this week with the owner as he has decided temporarily to withdraw the planning application for two apartments and re-market the ground floor as commercial space. ...
