Dublin
Dublin (/ˈdʌblᵻn/, Irish: Baile Átha Cliath [blʲaːˈklʲiəh]) is the capital and largest city of Ireland. Dublin is in the province of Leinster on Ireland's east coast, at the mouth of the River Liffey. The city has an urban area population of 1,273,069. The population of the Greater Dublin Area, as of 2011, was 1,801,040 persons.
Founded as a Viking settlement, the Kingdom of Dublin became Ireland's principal city following the Norman invasion. The city expanded rapidly from the 17th century and was briefly the second largest city in the British Empire before the Acts of Union in 1800. Following the partition of Ireland in 1922, Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State, later renamed Ireland.
Dublin is administered by a City Council. The city is listed by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) as a global city, with a ranking of "Alpha-", placing it among the top thirty cities in the world. It is a historical and contemporary centre for education, the arts, administration, economy and industry.

Dublin City (UK Parliament constituency)
Dublin City was an Irish Borough constituency in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. It comprised the city of Dublin in the county of Dublin, and was represented by two Members of Parliament from its creation in 1801 until 1885.
In 1885, Dublin City was split into four divisions which were separate single member constituencies: Dublin College Green, Dublin Harbour, Dublin St Stephen's Green and Dublin St Patrick's.
Boundaries
The city of Dublin was accounted a county of itself, although it remained connected with County Dublin for certain purposes. A Topographical Directory of Ireland, published in 1837, describes the Parliamentary history of the city.
The city returns two members to the Imperial parliament; the right of election, formerly vested in the corporation, freemen, and 40s. freeholders, has been extended to the £10 householders, and £20 and £10 leaseholders for the respective terms of 14 and 20 years, by the act of the 2nd of William IV., cap. 88. The number of voters registered at the first general election under that act was 7041, of which number, 5126 voted. The limits of the city, for electoral purposes, include an area of 3538 statute acres, the boundaries of which are minutely detailed in the Appendix; the number of freemen is about 3500, of whom 2500 are resident and 1000 non-resident, and the number of £10 houses is 16,000 : the sheriffs are the returning officers.

Dublin, California
Dublin (formerly, Amador and Dougherty's Station) is a suburban city of the East (San Francisco) Bay region of Alameda County, California, United States. Located along the north side of Interstate 580 at the intersection with Interstate 680, roughly 10 miles (16 km) east of Hayward, 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Livermore, directly north of Pleasanton, and 35 miles (56 km) north of San Jose, it was named after the city of Dublin in Ireland. The nearest major city is Oakland, approximately 25 miles (40 km) to the west-northwest on Interstate 580. Dublin is the second fastest-growing city in the state of California, behind only Santa Clarita. The population was 46,063 (2010 census), and the 2013 estimate at 49,890. It is forecast that by 2030, the population will grow to about 75,900. Dublin is home to the headquarters of Sybase, Inc, now part of SAP SE, Tria Beauty, Medley Health and Arlen Ness.

The City of Dublin is a general law city operating under a City Council / City Manager form of local government. This form of government combines an elected mayor and council and an appointed local government administrator. The City Council elections are nonpartisan. The Mayor serves a two-year term, and Council members serve four-year terms.

Holíč
Holíč (until 1946 "Holič", German: Weißkirchen (an der March) / Holitsch, Hungarian: Holics) is a town in western Slovakia.
History
The oldest archaeological findings are from the Neolithic, and there are findings from the Bronze Age, Iron Age and the Roman time. The town was first mentioned in 1205 as Wywar, meaning "New Castle". The Árpád dynasty built a stone castle after Mongol invasion in 1241. Holíč was in the 13th century until 1296 seat of a border comitatus. Among the owners of the town were Matthias Csák and Stibor of Stiborice. In the 15th century the town's development was slowed by the Hussite raids. In 1736 the town was bought by Franz I, Holy Roman Emperor, husband of Maria Theresa and manufactures were built, leading to the town's growth. Maria Theresa also rebuilt the Holíč Castle from a fortress into a summer château of the Habsburgs. Holíč's once thriving Jewish community was completely decimated by the Holocaust.

Noel Thompson presents BBC Northern Ireland coverage of the 2007 assembly elections, assisted by Mark Carruthers and Mark Devenport. Coming into these elections the Assembly had been suspended since October 2002, but a breakthrough had been made at the St Andrews Agreement of October 2006 in which the DUP agreed in principle to share power with Sinn Féin, in return for Republicans agreeing to support the Police Service of Northern Ireland. The general election was held on Wednesday 7 March, with six MLAs elected from each UK Parliament constituency through the Single Transferrable Vote system. As a result the count lasted two days. Here is the start of the coverage, from 12 noon on Thursday 8 March. No results are declared during this first hour.

This is a replay of a livestream.
The UK's new immigration system will provide faster and cheaper visas for skilled health and social care workers, the Government announced on Monday, setting out further details of the points-based system that will come into effect in January.
A new post-Brexit immigration system will apply to skilled workers and ends free movement of labour between Britain and the European Union (EU) following Britain's departure from the bloc earlier this year.
The NHS, which employs more than 1.2 million people and is Britain's front line in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic, relies on labour from both the EU and other countries around the world.
On Monday, the Government outlined a new "Health and Care Visa" which will lower fees, cut application times and provide greater support for eligible applicants who will work in the NHS, social care or supporting companies.
In most cases the new immigration system requires any worker from overseas to have a job offer, sufficiently high qualifications and spoken English.
The Government also announced that international students completing undergraduate or masters degrees will be able to stay in Britain for two years.
Those completing a PhD will be able to stay for three years.
There is no planned formal route for lower-skilled workers to enter Britain, although seasonal and sector-specific schemes may be created.

Coming into these elections the Assembly had been suspended since October 2002, but a breakthrough had been made at the St Andrews Agreement of October 2006 in which the DUP agreed in principle to share power with Sinn Féin, in return for Republicans agreeing to support the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
The general election was held on Wednesday 7 March, with six MLAs elected from each UK Parliament constituency through the Single Transferrable Vote system. As a result the count lasted two days. Here is the start of the coverage, from 12 noon on Thursday 8 March. No results are declared during this first hour.

Dublin
Dublin (/ˈdʌblᵻn/, Irish: Baile Átha Cliath [blʲaːˈklʲiəh]) is the capital and largest city of Ireland. Dublin is in the province of Leinster on Ireland's east coast, at the mouth of the River Liffey. The city has an urban area population of 1,273,069. The population of the Greater Dublin Area, as of 2011, was 1,801,040 persons.
Founded as a Viking settlement, the Kingdom of Dublin became Ireland's principal city following the Norman invasion. The city expanded rapidly from the 17th century and was briefly the second largest city in the British Empire before the Acts of Union in 1800. Following the partition of Ireland in 1922, Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State, later renamed Ireland.
Dublin is administered by a City Council. The city is listed by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) as a global city, with a ranking of "Alpha-", placing it among the top thirty cities in the world. It is a historical and contemporary centre for education, the arts, administration, economy and industry.

Crucial elections take place across the UK on 6 May. The result in Scotland could have huge consequences for the UK's future. The election in Wales is the most unpredictable since devolution. And across England, voters will elect the mayors of London and other English cities, 39 police and crime commissioners and several thousand councillors. The impact on the national political debate could be significant.
To make sense of the results and analyse what they mean, the Institute for Government held a special post-election expert discussion.
What will the votes mean for the major parties? How will the result in Scotland affect the independence question? What comes next in the devolution debate? And what will the mayors of the big English cities do with their powers?

The UK's new immigration system will provide faster and cheaper visas for skilled health and social care workers, the Government announced on Monday, setting out further details of the points-based system that will come into effect in January.
A new post-Brexit immigration system will apply to skilled workers and ends free movement of labour between Britain and the European Union (EU) following Britain's departure from the bloc earlier this year.
The NHS, which employs more than 1.2 million people and is Britain's front line in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic, relies on labour from both the EU and other countries around the world.
On Monday, the Government outlined a new "Health and Care Visa" which will lower fees, cut application times and provide greater support for eligible applicants who will work in the NHS, social care or supporting companies.
In most cases the new immigration system requires any worker from overseas to have a job offer, sufficiently high qualifications and spoken English.
The Government also announced that international students completing undergraduate or masters degrees will be able to stay in Britain for two years.
Those completing a PhD will be able to stay for three years.
There is no planned formal route for lower-skilled workers to enter Britain, although seasonal and sector-specific schemes may be created.

Coming into these elections the Assembly had been suspended since October 2002, but a breakthrough had been made at the St Andrews Agreement of October 2006 in which the DUP agreed in principle to share power with Sinn Féin, in return for Republicans agreeing to support the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
The general election was held on Wednesday 7 March, with six MLAs elected from each UK Parliament constituency through the Single Transferrable Vote system. As a result the count lasted two days. Here is the start of the coverage, from 12 noon on Thursday 8 March. No results are declared during this first hour.
