This weekend over 100,000 people will look on as some of the most talented motorcyclists in the world take on the Circuit de Catalunya hoping to end the day on top of the podium at the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.
The riders will go through the same routine as they do each race. They will visualise each twist and turn, they will take an intake of breath on the grid, they will use everything they’ve got and hope it takes them to glory.
For one man, though, it will mean just that little bit more. Jorge Lorenzo will line up on a sizzling-hot run of form and in front of his home fans hoping to make it four MotoGP wins in a row, chasing down current series leader and team-mate Valentino Rossi with every race.
We wanted to know exactly what it’s like to take on the 4.7km circuit at speeds of over 360kph, and Jorge obliged. We hooked up our cameras aboard his YZR-M1 and the results speak for themselves. Check out a lap in Catalunya with Jorge Lorenzo…

Jorge Lorenzo
Jorge Lorenzo Guerrero (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈxorxe loˈɾenθo ɣeˈreɾo]; born May 4, 1987) is a professional Spanish motorcycle road racer. He is the 2006 and 2007 250cc World Champion, and the 2010, 2012 and 2015 MotoGP World Champion. He currently competes in the MotoGP class, riding for the Yamaha team. Apart from his three titles in the premier class, Lorenzo has also finished as runner-up on three occasions. In 2012, Lorenzo became the first Spanish rider to win multiple premier class titles, and with sixty-one career wins, he is fifth on the all-time wins list.
Motorcycling career
125s and 250s
Lorenzo made his championship debut on his fifteenth birthday, on the second qualifying day for the 2002 125cc Spanish Grand Prix, after having to miss Friday practice as he was not old enough to race. Lorenzo dominated the 2007 250cc World Championship. His nine pole positions led to nine victories in 2007.
Lorenzo's victory at Misano in 2007 was his 16th in the 250cc class, making him the most successful Spanish rider of all time in the intermediate class – with one more victory than Dani Pedrosa and Sito Pons.

This weekend over 100,000 people will look on as some of the most talented motorcyclists in the world take on the Circuit de Catalunya hoping to end the day on top of the podium at the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya.
The riders will go through the same routine as they do each race. They will visualise each twist and turn, they will take an intake of breath on the grid, they will use everything they’ve got and hope it takes them to glory.
For one man, though, it will mean just that little bit more. Jorge Lorenzo will line up on a sizzling-hot run of form and in front of his home fans hoping to make it four MotoGP wins in a row, chasing down current series leader and team-mate Valentino Rossi with every race.

Ducati merekrut Jorge Lorenzo untuk bersaing dalam perebutan gelar juara dunia pada tahun depan. Menurut Cal Crutchlow, Ducati semestinya menggaet Marc Marquez. Di awal 2016, pabrikan Italia itu telah resmi merekrut Lorenzo untuk ditandemkan dengan Andrea Dovizioso hingga dua tahun ke depan. Pebalap Spanyol itu mendepak Andrea Iannone, yang akan hijrah ke Suzuki Ecstar. Akan tetapi, Lorenzo kini menjalani musim yang kurang mulus. Sebelum balapan GP Aragon, 25 September, Rossi juga kembali mengkritik Lorenzo dan Marquez dalam wawancara dengan BT Sport. The Doctor mengatakan Lorenzo dan Marquez telah sekongkol mencuri gelar juaranya musim lalu.
Dikutip dari Corriere dello Sport, Marquez enggan mengomentari terlalu banyak pernyataan Rossi dalam wawancara dengan BT Sport.
"Ini bukan kali pertama Rossi melakukan hal tertentu. Anda bisa mengartikannya dengan banyak hal. Saya pikir Rossi memiliki pengalaman hebat, baik di dalam dan luar sirkuit," ujar Marquez.
Marquez 'terseret' konflik Rossi dan Lorenzo musim lalu. Pebalap 23 tahun itu pun tidak mau untuk kali kedua 'terseret' konflik kedua pebalap. Terlebih hubungan Marquez dengan Rossi saat ini sudah jauh lebih baik.
"Saya tahu, di luar trek, ini bukan perang untuk saya. Saya hanya perlu fokus dengan apa yang terjadi di atas sirkuit," ucap Marquez.
"Konflik keduanya (Rossi dan Lorenzo) mungkin bagus untuk peluang saya menjadi juara dunia. Tapi, saya tidak ingin masuk dalam pertarungan mereka. Saya tidak ingin menyentuhnya," sambung pebalap Repsol Honda itu.

Kandidat terkuat juara dunia MotoGP 2016, Marc Marquez, mengatakan tidak ingin kembali terlibat konflik antara dua pebalap Movistar Yamaha, Valentino Rossi dan Jorge Lorenzo.
Hubungan Rossi dan Lorenzo kembali memanas dalam dua balapan terakhir. Pemicunya adalah adu argumen kedua pebalap Yamaha itu usai balapan di GP San Marino, 11 September lalu.
Sebelum balapan GP Aragon, 25 September, Rossi juga kembali mengkritik Lorenzo dan Marquez dalam wawancara dengan BT Sport. The Doctor mengatakan Lorenzo dan Marquez telah sekongkol mencuri gelar juaranya musim lalu.
Dikutip dari Corriere dello Sport, Marquez enggan mengomentari terlalu banyak pernyataan Rossi dalam wawancara dengan BT Sport.
"Ini bukan kali pertama Rossi melakukan hal tertentu. Anda bisa mengartikannya dengan banyak hal. Saya pikir Rossi memiliki pengalaman hebat, baik di dalam dan luar sirkuit," ujar Marquez.
Marquez 'terseret' konflik Rossi dan Lorenzo musim lalu. Pebalap 23 tahun itu pun tidak mau untuk kali kedua 'terseret' konflik kedua pebalap. Terlebih hubungan Marquez dengan Rossi saat ini sudah jauh lebih baik.
"Saya tahu, di luar trek, ini bukan perang untuk saya. Saya hanya perlu fokus dengan apa yang terjadi di atas sirkuit," ucap Marquez.
"Konflik keduanya (Rossi dan Lorenzo) mungkin bagus untuk peluang saya menjadi juara dunia. Tapi, saya tidak ingin masuk dalam pertarungan mereka. Saya tidak ingin menyentuhnya," sambung pebalap Repsol Honda itu.

Ducati merekrut Jorge Lorenzo untuk bersaing dalam perebutan gelar juara dunia pada tahun depan. Menurut Cal Crutchlow, Ducati semestinya menggaet Marc Marquez.
Di awal 2016, pabrikan Italia itu telah resmi merekrut Lorenzo untuk ditandemkan dengan Andrea Dovizioso hingga dua tahun ke depan. Pebalap Spanyol itu mendepak Andrea Iannone, yang akan hijrah ke Suzuki Ecstar.
Akan tetapi, Lorenzo kini menjalani musim yang kurang mulus. Juara dunia MotoGP tiga kali itu sudah retired dua kali dan kesulitan mendapatkan performa terbaik sejak akhir paruh pertama musim.
Alhasil, Lorenzo baru mengumpulkan 182 poin, tertinggal jauh dari Marquez dengan selisih 66 poin padahal balapan tinggal menyisakan empat seri. Kans mempertahankan titel juara pun bisa dibilang nyaris mustahil.
Tak pelak kemampuan Lorenzo dalam menaklukkan Ducati yang dikenal 'menantang' pun mulai diragukan. Apalagi sejak era Casey Stoner, baru sekali Ducati bisa memenangi balapan saat Iannone juara di Austria.
"... Aku cuma merasa bahwa kalau mereka [Ducati] ingin seorang pebalap yang pasti akan memenangi juara dunia, apakah aku mengira dia [Lorenzo] orangnya, dengan motor seperti itu? Tidak. Marc Marquez," nilai Crutchlow yang pernah membalap untuk Ducati pada 2014 itu.
"Dia [Marquez] sempat tersedia ketika itu, mereka hanya tidak pernah membuat penawaran yang cukup bagus kepadanya -- atau Marc memang tidak ingin pergi," pungkas pebalap LCR Honda ini. Demikian diwartakan Motorsport.
Balapan berikutnya akan digelar di Motegi, Jepang pada 16 Oktober.
