The Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia (also known as Little Armenia; Classical Armenian: Կիլիկիոյ Հայկական Թագաւորութիւն, not to be confused with the Armenian Kingdom of Antiquity) was a state formed in the Middle Ages by Armenian refugees fleeing the Seljuk invasion of Armenia.[1] It was located on the Gulf of Alexandretta of the Mediterranean Sea in what is today southern Turkey. The kingdom remained independent from around 1078 to 1375.

Ankara: the Capital of Turkey, with the famous museum for the Anatolian Civilization. Mediterranean Region: Adana, Iskenderun and Antakya (Cilicia in the ancient times). Southeastern Anatolia: The towns of Gaziantep, with the best Mosaic Museum the Zeugma, Salinurfa (Urfa) the city of the Prophets (Abraham included) and Harran where the first Islamic University was founded – all with a history dating back to 6th millennium. Mount Nemrut: The mausoleum of Antiochus I (69–34 B.C.), who reigned over Commagene, after the breakup of Alexander's empire, is one of the most ambitious constructions of the Hellenistic period. The syncretism of its pantheon, and the lineage of its kings, which can be traced back through two sets of legends, Greek and Persian, is evidence of its dual culture. Even here, in the depths of Anatolia, the Greek spirit is still quite vivid and dominant. No Greek can ponder around here, without feeling a sense of pride, familiarity and affection.

In antiquity, Cilicia ([pronunciation?]; Turkish: Kilikya, Armenian: Կիլիկիա, Greek: Κιλικία, Middle Persian: klkyʾy, Parthian: kylkyʾ) was the south coastal region of Asia Minor, south of the central Anatolian plateau. It existed as a political entity from Hittite times into the Byzantine empire. Cilicia extends inland from the southeastern coast of modern Turkey, due north and northeast of the island of Cyprus.
Cilicia extended along the Mediterranean coast east from Pamphylia, to the Amanus Mountains, which separated it from Syria. North and east of Cilicia lie the rugged Taurus Mountains that separate it from the high central plateau of Anatolia, which are pierced by a narrow gorge, called in Antiquity the Cilician Gates. Ancient Cilicia was naturally divided into Cilicia Trachaea and Cilicia Pedias divided by the Lamas Su. Salamis, the city on the east coast of Cyprus, was included in its administrative jurisdiction. The Greeks invented for Cilicia an eponymous Hellene founder in the purely mythic Cilix, but the historic founder of the dynasty that ruled Cilicia Pedias was Mopsus, identifiable in Phoenician sources as Mpš, the founder of Mopsuestia who gave his name to an oracle nearby.Homer mentions the people of Mopsus, identified as Cilices, as from the Troad in the northernwesternmost part of the peninsula.

Daniel Decker is a Puerto Rican - American composer, singer and recording artist known for his unique blending of musical influences from around the globe and infusing them into his own works.
Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, raised in Solvay, New York, trained at the Crane School of Music in New York, he has incorporated many diverse musical elements he has encountered along the way. He incorporates classical, jazz, pop and world music influences into his music.
He has received critical acclaim for his collaborations with Armenian composer Ara Gevorgian. “Noah’s Prayer” (originally entitled “Mush”) chronicles Noah’s journey to Mount Ararat. “Noah’s Prayer” was debuted in 2002 in Sardarapat, Armenia to celebrate Armenian Independence day. In attendance were Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians (head of the Armenian Apostolic Church), as well as ambassadors from countries around the world. The concert, which was broadcast live on Armenian television, and via satellite to over 30 nations, has catapulted Decker to celebrity status in Armenia.

Leaders and lawyers representing the Catholicosate of Cilicia held a press conference earlier today at the National Press Club to discuss their lawsuit against the Turkish Government seeking the return of the historic seat of the Catholicosate, located in Sis (currently Kozan), one-time capital of Cilician Armenia, reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA). The press conference featured remarks by Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate of the Armenian Apostolic Church of the Eastern United States; Teny Pirri-Simonian, Senior Advisor to the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia; Payam Akhavan, former UN prosecutor at The Hague and lead international counsel in this case, and; Cem Sofuoglu, Turkish human rights lawyer and local counsel. They were joined by ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian, who shared the Armenian American community's support for the just legal claims of the Armenian Church and, more broadly, spoke to the efforts of Armenians worldwide to secure international justice for the Armenian Genocide. Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia
The Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia (also known as Little Armenia; Classical Armenian: Կիլիկիոյ Հայկական Թագաւորութիւն, not to be confused with the Armenian Kingdom of Antiquity) was a state formed in the Middle Ages by Armenian refugees fleeing the Seljuk invasion of Armenia.[1] It was located on the Gulf of Alexandretta of the Mediterranean Sea in what is today southern Turkey. The kingdom remained independent from around 1078 to 1375. -

The fortress of Korykos was built on previous fortifications by the Kings of Lesser Armenia (Cilicia) in the XIIth century. The area was highly populated in Roman time and there are many ancient buildings and tombs in the vicinity of the fortress. The Armenian barons of Korykos controlled most of the eastern coast of Cilicia and their possessions or those of minor feudal families who reported to them included Silifke and Cape Anamur. Several daughters of the barons of Korykos became Queens of Lesser Armenia; an Isabel married King Oshin I, an Alice married King Leo IV and a Maria married first King Constantine III and then King Constantine IV. The syncretism of its pantheon, and the lineage of its kings, which can be traced back through two sets of legends, Greek and Persian, is evidence of its dual culture. Even here, in the depths of Anatolia, the Greek spirit is still quite vivid and dominant. No Greek can ponder around here, without feeling a sense of pride, familiarity and affection.

The press conference featured remarks by Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan, Prelate of the Armenian Apostolic Church of the Eastern United States; Teny Pirri-Simonian, Senior Advisor to the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia; Payam Akhavan, former UN prosecutor at The Hague and lead international counsel in this case, and; Cem Sofuoglu, Turkish human rights lawyer and local counsel. They were joined by ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian, who shared the Armenian American community's support for the just legal claims of the Armenian Church and, more broadly, spoke to the efforts of Armenians worldwide to secure international justice for the Armenian Genocide.

The fortress of Korykos was built on previous fortifications by the Kings of Lesser Armenia (Cilicia) in the XIIth century. The area was highly populated in Roman time and there are many ancient buildings and tombs in the vicinity of the fortress.
The Armenian barons of Korykos controlled most of the eastern coast of Cilicia and their possessions or those of minor feudal families who reported to them included Silifke and Cape Anamur.
Several daughters of the barons of Korykos became Queens of Lesser Armenia; an Isabel married King Oshin I, an Alice married King Leo IV and a Maria married first King Constantine III and then King Constantine IV.
In addition to a large natural harbour, the fortress of Korykos housed a very small harbour cut into the rock; Korykos was a port of call for Genoese and Venetian merchants.The fortress protected a small town with several buildings and three chapels which can still be identified because of their shape. The barons of Korykos had contacts with noble families in southern Italy and France. Hethoum of Korykos spent several years in France advocating an alliance with the Mongols to free the Holy Land; he also wrote in French Histoire merveilleuse, plaisante et récréative du grand empereur de Tartarie, Grand-Khan, a historical and geographical account of western Asia. The fortress of Korykos was complemented by a small castle built on an islet at the centre of the bay. A dam linked Korykos to the islet. The dam did not survive for long and its existence was forgotten. A tale, clearly inspired by Cleopatra's death, explained in a new way the origin of the castle. A maid had been foretold death by a snakebite. Her father built the castle on the waves to protect her, but a snake hidden in a basket of figs sent by an admirer reached the castle and killed the maid. That's why the castle is called Kizkalesi (The maid's castle). A few miles to the west of Kizkalesi an underground stream of cold water empties into a small bay; a wealthy Roman chose this spot for building a villa with a bath on the edge the bay; the ancient Romans enjoyed taking baths at different temperatures and the underground stream cooled the water of the sea.
The bath was decorated with a large mosaic showing the Three Graces who were symbols of Beauty, Mirth and Good Cheer.
