Steve and Eydie married in Las Vegas way back in December 1957. They are always a top attraction there, and elsewhere. Here they sing that great standard FLY ME TO THE MOON .( In Other Words) From wikipedia: "Frank Sinatra recorded the song on his 1964 album It Might as Well Be Swing accompanied by Count Basie. The arrangement by Quincy Jones has become the rendition by which most people recognise the song. Jones changed the time signature, which was originally 3/4 waltz-time, to 4/4 and gave it a 'swing' feel. Sinatra's recording was a hit and was played to the astronauts of Apollo 10, on their lunar mission. [1] Sinatra also performed the song with Basie on 1966's Sinatra at the Sands, and on 1994's Duets II, his final recording of "Fly Me to the Moon" and his final collaboration with Antonio Carlos Jobim. He also performed this song in 1969 TV-show "Sinatra", there he dedicated it to the Apollo astronauts "who made the impossible possible". "Fly Me to the Moon" is a pop standard song written by Bart Howard in 1954. When introduced by Felicia Sanders on the cabaret circuit, it was originally titled "In Other Words". The song became popularly called "Fly Me to the Moon" from its first line, but it took a few years for the publishers to change the title officially." THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK song IN OTHER WORDS (FLY ME TO THE MOON) Music and lyrics: BART HOWARD (1954) sung by Eydie Gorme in the LP EYDIE IN LOVE (1958) Lyrics: Poets often use many words To say a simple thing It takes thought and time and rhyme To make a poem sing. With music and words I've been playing For you I have written a song To be sure that you'll know what I'm saying I'll translate as i go along Fly me to the moon, And let me play among the stars Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars In other words: Hold my hand! In other words: Darling, kiss me! Fill my heart with song, And let me sing forever more You are all I long for all I worship and adore In other words: Please be true! In other words: I love you! In other words: Please be true! In other words: I love you! at Westbury, New York November 7th, 2009 Here is a list of the great songs he sang: 1. I've got to be me 2. More 3. What did I have (I don't have now) 4. on a clear day 5. luck be a lady 6. these foolish things 7. a room without windows 8. where can i go? 9. world on a string 10. under my skin 11. come rain or come shine 12. all the way 13. fly me to the moon 14. moonlight in vermont 15. lady is a tramp 16. go away little girl 17. a portrait of our love 18. it had to be you 19. song by Steve Lawrence circa 1964 - visit my channel for more songs.
"Bewitched," the television comedy starring Dick York and Elizabeth Montgomery as Darrin and Samantha Stephens, man and witch - er, wife, premiered in 1964. The theme song was written by Howard Greenfield and Jack Keller. Greenfield had written a number of successful songs with Neil Sedaka. Keller later recalled, "The pilot had used Frank Sinatra's 'Witchcraft,' but they didn't want to pay for 'Witchcraft,' so they asked us to write something. We only had a week to write the song, do the demo, and get it out to California, and they accepted it and they put it on." But when the show aired the following season, an instrumental version of the song was used with music provided by Warren Baker who composed music for the series. Howard Greenfield and Jack Keller also wrote the theme song for "Gidget." Johnny Tillotson - (Wait 'Til You See) My Gidget http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZqBIQCIu5g Steve Lawrence recorded the song and it was used for the flip-side of his 1964 single "I Will Wait For You." As far as I've been able to determine, it was never released on any album. In 2005 when the movie starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrel premiered, the song was included on the soundtrack, 41 years after it had been written. For this video, I used video excerpts from the original 1964 pilot episode of "Bewitched" along with photographs of Elizabeth Montgomery. When "Bewitched" premiered in 1964, Elizabeth Montgomery was 31 years old; Dick York was 36. Watching Ms. Montgomery and looking at the photographs, I have to say that she was one of most beautiful television actresses in the past 40 years. She is greatly missed! BEWITCHED (Words and Music by Howard Greenfield and Jack Keller) Bewitched! Bewitched! You've got me in your spell. Bewitched! Bewitched! You know your craft so well. Before I knew what you were doing I looked in your eyes. That brand of woo that you've been brew-in' took me by surprise. You witch! You witch! One thing is for sure - That stuff you pitch, just hasn't got a cure. My heart was under lock and key, but somehow it got unhitched. I never thought my heart could be had. But now I'm caught and I'm kinda glad to be, to be bewitched! Bewitched! Bewitched! My heart was under lock and key, but somehow it got unhitched. I never thought my heart could be had. But now I'm caught and I'm kinda glad that you, you do that crazy voodoo and I'm bewitched by you!

Entertainment Weekly 2014-12-09Steve Lawrence (born July 8, 1935) is an American singer and actor, perhaps best known as a member of a duo with his wife Eydie Gormé, billed as "Steve and Eydie". The two appeared together since appearing regularly on Steve Allen's The Tonight Show in the mid-1950s until Gormé's retirement.
Lawrence was born Sidney Liebowitz to Jewish parents in Brooklyn, Max, a cantor and house painter, and Anna (née Gelb). He attended Thomas Jefferson High School.
He and Gormé married on December 29, 1957 at the El Rancho Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had two sons, the younger of whom, Michael, died unexpectedly in 1986 of ventricular fibrillation resulting from an undiagnosed heart condition at the age of 23. Their elder son, David, composed the score for High School Musical.
In the late 1950s, Steve Lawrence was drafted into the Army and served as the official vocal soloist with The United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" in Washington, D.C.[citation needed]
Lawrence had success on the record charts in the late 1950s and early 1960s with such hits as "Go Away Little Girl" (U.S. #1), "Pretty Blue Eyes" (U.S. #9), "Footsteps" (U.S. #7), "Portrait of My Love" (U.S. #9), and "Party Doll" (U.S. #5). "Go Away Little Girl" sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. However, much of his musical career has centered on nightclubs and the musical stage. He is also an actor, appearing in guest roles on television shows in every decade since the 1950s, in shows such as The Danny Kaye Show, The Judy Garland Show, The Carol Burnett Show, The Julie Andrews Hour, Night Gallery, Police Story, Murder, She Wrote, Gilmore Girls, and CSI. In the fall of 1965, Lawrence was briefly the star of a variety show called The Steve Lawrence Show, "the last television show in black and white on CBS".
Many a time
Sad tears were in my eyes
Many a time
You told me many lies
My love for you
Should have ended long long ago
But there was hope in my heart
Because I loved you so
Many a time
You filled my heart with pain
Just like a cloud
You filled our love with rain
And if you can't be true
Though you may try and try
Then let's be friends when we say
Goodbye
Sad tears were in my eyes
You told me many lies
And if you can't be true
Though you may try and try
Then let's be friends when we say
Goodbye
Goodbye
We met at nine, we met at eight, I was on time, no, you were late
Ah, yes, I remember it well
We dined with friends, we dined alone, a tenor sang, a baritone
Ah, yes, I remember it well
That dazzling April moon, there was none that night
And the month was June, that's right, that's right
It warms my heart to know that you remember still the way you do
Ah, yes, I remember it well
How often I've thought of that Friday, Monday night
When we had our last rendezvous
And somehow I foolishly wondered if you might
By some chance be thinking of it too?
That carriage ride, you walked me home
You lost a glove, aha, it was a comb
Ah, yes, I remember it well
That brilliant sky, we had some rain
Those Russian songs from sunny Spain
Ah, yes, I remember it well
You wore a gown of gold, I was all in blue
Am I getting old? Oh, no, not you
How strong you were, how young and gay
A prince of love in every way
Thought I was in love before
And then you moved in next door
Pretty blue eyes,
pretty blue eyes,
All the guys from the neighborhood
Keep sayin' you sure look good
With your blue eyes,
pretty blue eyes
Saw you from my window
My heart skipped a beat
Gonna sit by your doorstep
So that I can meet
Pretty blue eyes,
please come out today
So I can tell you what I have to say
That I love you, love you
Pretty blue eyes
Saw you from my window
My heart skipped a beat
Gonna sit by your doorstep
So that I can meet
Pretty blue eyes,
please come out today
So I can tell you what I have to say
That I love you, love you
Pretty blue eyes
Pretty blue eyes
Pretty blue eyes
There could never be a portrait of my love
For nobody can paint a dream,
You will never see a portrait of my love,
For miracles are never seen.
Anyone who sees her, soon forgets the Mona Lisa,
It would take I know, a Michaelangelo,
And he would need the glow of dawn to paint the skies above,
Poor little rich girl
I know why you're blue
You finally found something, that your daddy wont buy for you
Whoa, poor little rich girl
How happy you could be
If you hadn't fallen in love with a poor boy like me
If I were a rich boy, I could make you mine
But tonight when I kiss you, it will be for the very last time
Whoa, poor little rich girl
It's sad but it's true,
In the eyes of the world I'm not good enough for you
It would have been better, if we had never met
Ahhh you'd be without a care in the world, with nothing to forget
Ahhhh poor little rich girl... how happy you could be
If you hadn't fallen in love with a poor boy like me
Ahhhhh poor little rich girl
How happy you could be,
Well all I want is a party doll,
To come along with me when I'm feelin' wild,
To be everlovin', true and fair,
To run her fingers through my hair.
Come along and be my party doll,
Come along and be my party doll,
Come along and be my party doll,
I wanna make love to you, to you,
I wanna make love to you.
Well I saw a gal walkin' down the street,
The kind of a gal I'd love to meet,
She had blonde hair and eyes of blue,
Baby I wanna have a party with you.
Come along and be my party doll,
Come along and be my party doll,
Come along and be my party doll,
I wanna make love to you, to you,
I wanna make love to you.
Every man has got to have a party doll,
To be with him when he's feelin' wild,
To be everlovin', true and fair
To run her fingers through his hair,
To run her fingers through his hair.
Come along and be my party doll,
Come along and be my party doll,
Come along and be my party doll,
I wanna make love to you, to you,
I'm walking proud
Got my head held high
I'm walking proud
And I'll tell you why
You're the prettiest girl
There ever could be
And I'm walking proud
Cause you're walking with me
Well everybody told me
Our love couldnt last
They said, Shell never be true
To a loser like you
She's out of your class
But I'm walking proud
Chorus
So many other guys
Tried to steal you away
But when they came around
Your heart stood it's ground
And that's why I say
I'm walking proud
It was Fiesta down in Mexico
And so I stopped a while to see the show
I knew that frenesi meant please love me
And I could say frenesi
A handsome caballero caught my eye
I stood enchanted as he wondered by
And never knowing that it came from me
I gently sighed frenesi
He stopped and raised his eyes to mine
My lips just pleaded to be kissed
His eyes were soft as candles shined
So how was I to resist?
And I without a heart to call my own
A greatest happiness I've never known
Because his kisses are for me alone
Who wouldn't say frenesi?
Long, long ago
I wondered down into Old Mexico
There, at a dance
I met my first real romance.
Moon was shining bright
And I could hear laughing voices in the night
Everyone was gay
It was the start of a holiday.
Quiero que vivas solo para mi
why que tu vayas por donde yo voy
Para que mi alma sea nomas de ti
Besame con frenesi
Hay en el beso que te di
Alma, vida why Corazon
Dime que sabes to sentir
Lo mismo que siento yo
And I without a heart to call my own
A greatest happiness I've never known
Because his kisses are for me alone
Who wouldn't say frenesi?

Footsteps footsteps footsteps footsteps
Why did you say goodbye to me
Now I'm as lonely as could be
And as I feel a teardrop fall
I hear your footsteps down the hall
Walking away from me
Why did you say goodbye
Why did you make me cry
Now everyday I wonder why
Why, oh why, oh why, oh
Footsteps footsteps footsteps footsteps
You're such a haunting memory
I pray that you'll come back to me
But as I say my evening prayers
I hear your footsteps on the stairs
Walking away from me
Repeat *
Footsteps, footsteps...
Yet I know
I know
There's no one else for me
Yes I know
I know
There's no one else for me
Yes I know
I know
There's no one else for me
Yes I know
Someday I hope
I wake up feeling differently
And find at last
That you and I are through
I'll be free of the love
That has chained me to you
Yet I know
Yet I know
You won't believe that I am really leaving you
And that I'll take back my heart with no regret
Not a tear
Not a sigh
I'll just say goodbye
Then I'll turn and walk out of your life
And forget
Yet I know
I know
There's no one else for me
Yes I know
I know
There's no one else for me
Yes I know
I know
There's no one else for me
Yes I know
I'll find two arms
Two other lips to welcome me
And you'll become
A faded memory
Out of sight out of mind
And my heart will be free
Yet I know
Yet I know
You'll think I'm weak
And I'll come running back to you
So you'll be strong
And play the waiting game
Don't wait too many years
When I dry my tears
And I'll almost forget how you look
And your name
Yet I know
I know
There's no one else for me
Yes I know
I know
There's no one else for me
Yes I know
I know
There's no one else for me
Bewitched, bewitched, you've got me in your spell.
Bewitched, bewitched, you know your craft so well.
Before I knew what you were doing I looked in your eyes.
That brand of woo that you've been brew-in' took me by surprise.
You witch, you witch, one thing that's for sure,
That stuff you pitch - just hasn't got a cure.
My heart was under lock and key - but somehow it got unhitched.
I never thought my heart could be had.
But now I'm caught and I'm kinda glad to be--
Can't wait for summer
Can't wait for summer
Can't wait for summer, summer
Can't wait for summer
To throw away my books
Can't wait for summer
Get out my fishing hooks
In the summer, girls look cute
Dressed up in a bathing suit
Can't wait for summer
To see what cooks
Can't wait for summer
Can't wait for summer
Can't wait for summer, summer
Can't wait for summer
To play ball in the park
Can't wait for summer
To park out in the dark
Outdoor are my speed
Go to drive-ins for a fee
Can't wait for summer
Can't wait to have a lark
Can't wait for summer
To run round in shorts
Can't wait for summer
To play on tennis courts
The girl I want will be all for
Loving? out of doors
The girl I want will be all for
Can't wait for summer sports
Can't wait for summer
Can't wait for summer
There was a day in September
As clear as I can remember
I was visiting Kingston town
And taking a look around
I saw a cute little fellow
Who was looking downhearted
When I asked what the matter could be
He stopped to tell the story
I had a little donkey
And he done got locked up
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)
They stick him in the jail
And he ain't done nothing
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)
Got him peeping through the bars
Like a little monkey
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)
The folks all say
He been a real bad donkey
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)
They say he's acting
Like there's rum in his hay
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)
He wasn't drunk
He just wanna play
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)
I hear they're gonna
Have a trial in the morning
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)
I'm gonna tell the judge
That he ain't done nothing
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)
La la la la la...
First he bumped Mrs. Mary
And then he bite the policeman
Turn and broke Mr. Webster's cart
Which was almost fallen apart
He started a little riot
But now there's peace and there's quiet
See how he done empty the street
Ain't no one to trip your feet
I had a little donkey
And he done got locked up
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)
They stick him in the jail
And he ain't done nothing
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)
Got him peeping through the bars
Like a little monkey
Pum pa lum (pum pa lum)

Go away, little girl.
I'm not supposed to be alone with you.
I know that your lips are sweet,
But our lips must never meet.
I belong to someone else, and I must be true.
Oh, go away, little girl.
Go away, little girl.
It's hurtin' me more each minute that you delay.
When you are near me like this,
You're much too hard to resist.
So, go away, little girl, before I beg you to stay."(instr) Go away.
(instr) Please don't stay.
(instr) It'll never work out.
When you are near me like this,
You're much too hard to resist.
So, go away, little girl.
Call it a day, little girl.
Oh, please, go away, little girl,
Before I beg you to stay.
Don't be afraid, little darlin'
Let yourself fall in love with me
I'm not like that other guy
I'll never make you cry
I'll be as true as can be, you'll see
Don't be afraid, little darlin'
Come on, now don't you turn away
Just you forget your fears
And let me dry your tears
Tell me you'll let me stay
Give me a chance, little darlin'
To show you how sweet a love can be
You're gonna shine and you'll find the world's your valentine
If you just trust in me, come on now
Don't be afraid, little darlin'
Your love is all I'm living for
Yes, I'm livin' for the day I'm gonna hear you say
You're not afraid of me any more
Don't be afraid, little darlin'
Your love is all I'm living for
Yes, I'm livin' for the day I'm gonna hear you say
You're not afraid of me any more
Aww, don't be afraid, little darlin'
[CHORUS]
Well I always knew
I was crazy for you
But had I known
You'd thrill me so
If this is love
It's a-fabulous
[VERSE 1]
Your lips close to mine
I get chills up my spine
And when we touch
I thrill so much
If this is love
It's a-fabulous
I read in a book
About a-love and it's charms
But I, I never knew
Until I held you in my arms
When I held you tight
Well, I know that I'm right
It's only you
Can do what you do
If this is love
It's a-fabulous
[BRIDGE]
[Repeat CHORUS]
[Repeat VERSE 1]
It's a-fabulous
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I don't wanna go to the party with you
I don't wanna go to the dance
I don't wanna go anywhere with you
I just wanna stay here and love you
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Now that I can be alone with you
I won't throw away the chance
There's no place like home with you
So I wanna stay here and love you
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
All through the week I miss you so-uh-oh-uh-oh
So now that I've got you I'm gonna hold you
Closer and closer and closer and oh-oh
I don't wanna go for a walk with you
And now that I am in this trance
I don't even know if I'll talk to you
I just wanna stay here and love you
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I don't even know if I'll talk to you
I just wanna stay here and love you
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Just wanna stay here and love you
It seems we stood and talked like this before
We looked at each other in the same way then
But I can't remember where or when
The clothes you're wearing are the clothes you wore
For the smile you are smiling you were smiling then
But I can't remember where or when
Some things that happened for the first time
Seem to be happening again
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before and loved before
But who knows where or when
Some things that happened for the first time
Seem to be happening again
I can't remember my darling
I can't remember
And so it seems that we have met before
And laughed before and loved before
Uh huh, oh yeah
I love my lovely love
Uh huh, oh yeah
I love the truly true
Uh huh, oh yeah
I love my lovely love

When she kisses me it's oh sublime
Love my baby with love divine
Uh huh, oh yeah

Uh huh, oh yeah
I love my truly true
Uh huh, oh yeah

Uh huh, oh yeah
Gonna buy my baby diamond rings
Pearls and rubies and a lot of things
Gonna shower her with gifts and?
'Til my baby loves me for myself
Uh huh, oh yeah
I love my lovely love
Uh huh, oh yeah
I love the truly true
Uh huh, oh yeah
I truly love my love
Uh huh, oh yeah
Gonna go ride out and rent a car
Take my baby out beneath the stars
Kiss her lips that taste like cherry wine
Show my baby a real good time
Uh huh, oh yeah
I truly love my love
Uh huh, oh yeah
I love the truly true
Uh huh, oh yeah
I truly love my love

[Repeat VERSE 1]
It's a-fabulous
Far across the blue waters
A-way over yonder
By the banks
Of the old river Rye
Where I loved her
And left her
But I can't forget her
'Cause I miss my pretty Fraulien
Fraulien, Fraulien
Look up towards the heaven
Each night when the stars seem to shine
By the same stars above you
I swear that I love you
You are my pretty Fraulien
[REPEAT ALL]
(She is his pretty Fraulien)
You're walking along the street, or you're at a party
Or else you're alone and then you suddenly dig
You're looking in someone's eyes
You suddenly realize
That this could be the start of something big
You're lunching at "21", you're watching your diet
Declining a charlotte russe, accepting a fig
When out of a clear blue sky
It's suddenly gal and guy
And this could be the start of something big
There's no controlling the unrolling of your fate, my friend
Who knows what's written in the magic book
But when a lover you discover at the gate, my friend
Invite her in without a second look
You're up in an aeroplane or dining at Sardi's
Or lying at Malibu, alone on the sand
You suddenly hear a bell
And right away you can tell
That this could be the start of something grand
This could be the start of something very big
Why don't you play your part
Please give your heart to me, and see
This could be the start of something wonderful
Why don't you take a chance
And try romance with me, and see
You're watching the sun come up or counting your money
Or else in a dim cafe, you're ordering wine
Then suddenly there he is
And you wanna be where he is
And this must be the start of something
This could be the heart of something
