Samuel Eto'o Fils is a Cameroonian soccer striker, best known for leading his country to a host of unbelievable victories.
Born on 10
March 1981 in
Nkon,
Cameroon, the star player claims to enjoy quite a comfortable life as a child. He attended the
Kadji Sports Academy in
Douala but couldn't make through a
French soccer club due to his age and unavailability of a proper ID. However, the striker's love and dedication for this game soon introduced him to numerous success with prestigious clubs and teams that the world can see till date.
Samuel was in the Cameroon national team and currently plays as a striker for Sampdoria. He has been tagged as the world's most decorated African player for having won the reputed “
African Player of the Year” award four times -
2003, 2004,
2005 and
2010. The legendary player won the hearts of millions of fans across the globe when he scored around
100 amazing goals in five seasons with
Barcelona. In addition to this, Samuel is also the record holder in several appearances by an African player in La
Liga. 2010 brought another achievement in the career of Samuel when he became the first player to win two
European continental trebles along with back-to-back victories with Barcelona and
Inter Milan. The history of football states the soccer master to be the second player for scoring in two
UEFA Champions League finals as well as the fourth player to have won the trophy with different teams after

He said, “It is something that has affected me personally. I think players, leaders, and the media have to join forces so that no one feels looked down upon because of the colour of their skin. At this moment in time I prefer my children don't go to football matches
. In the stands they have to listen to things that are difficult to explain to a child. It is better they aren't exposed to it.” Samuel Eto'o married the love of his life Georgette on 6 July,
2007 and is the father of four children - Maelle,
Étienne,
Siena and
Lynn. Eto'o is also the brother of two footballers named
David and Étienne.
