Surgery (from the Greek: χειρουργική cheirourgikē, via Latin: chirurgiae, meaning "hand work") is an ancient medical specialty that uses operative manual and instrumental techniques on a patient to investigate and/or treat a pathological condition such as disease or injury, or to help improve bodily function or appearance.
An act of performing surgery may be called a surgical procedure, operation, or simply surgery. In this context, the verb operate means to perform surgery. The adjective surgical means pertaining to surgery; e.g. surgical instruments or surgical nurse. The patient or subject on which the surgery is performed can be a person or an animal. A surgeon is a person who performs operations on patients in hope of a favorable outcome. Persons described as surgeons are commonly physicians, but the term is also applied to podiatrists, dentists (known as oral and maxillofacial surgeons) and veterinarians. A surgery can last from minutes to hours, but is typically not an ongoing or periodic type of treatment. The term surgery can also refer to the place where surgery is performed, or simply the office of a physician, dentist, or veterinarian.
Verse 1:
I'll make a joke and she'll try not to laugh
As the men made of stone find their surgery masks
I head down the road or the linoleum floor, I really can't tell anymore
I see fluorescent clouds in a white tile sky
I see trees all around with name tags on their ties
She takes my hand, and the trees turn around
And says, "Promise you're coming back out"
Chorus:
Because I always believed you
When you swore to me, you'd pull through
So I plugged my heart into yours
A life support, so see, you can't leave, because I always believed
Verse 2:
I'll fall asleep, but she'll still be close by
In prescription dreams, everything seems alright
I head down the street or the linoleum floor, I really can't tell anymore
I feel a clean plastic breeze moving left of my ship
And the wind blows much harder when a man flips a switch
She takes my hand, and the wind comes to a stop
She says "Promise you're not giving up"
Chorus:
Because I always believed you
When you swore to me, you'd pull through
So I plugged my heart into yours
A life support, so see, you can't leave, because I always believed
I always believed, I always believed you
I'll make a joke and she'll try not to laugh
As the men made of stone find their surgery masks
