K. A. Rahman

Kavungal Amakkode Abdul Rahman (K. A. Rahman) (born 1 January 1940 – 11 January 1999), popularly known as Adhrehyaka or simply Adreyi, was the founder leader of the Chaliyar agitation in Kerala state, South India.

Personal life

Adreyi was the third son of Kavungal Kunhoyi Haji and Poothottathil Biyyakutty Hajumma and married to Zainaba daughter of Kunhahammed Haji Koyyapuram. He had his preliminary education from Vazhakkad School and then studied at M.M. High School, Kozhikode. Rahman was elected to Vazhakkad Grama Panchayat in 1963 and has been Vice President of the same. He later became Vazhakkad Panchayath President. He was also the block Panchayath President in Kondotty Block. K. A. Rahman was the rallying point behind the Chaliyar agitation since the beginning.

Chaliyar Action Committee

Rahman founded the Chaliyar action committee and it was the first public agitation against air and water pollution in Kerala and it led to an agreement between the people and the factory management in 1974 known as the Rama Nilayam pact, as it was brokered in the government guesthouse bearing that name. The high point of the agitation was in December 1998 when Rahman marched to the factory gates demanding its immediate closure with around 7,000 villagers behind him.Raw material had become scarce, and the factory finally closed down in early 2000 after Rahman’s death.

Kosha

A Kosha (also Kosa; Sanskrit कोश, IAST: kośa), usually rendered "sheath", is a covering of the Atman, or Self according to Vedantic philosophy. There are five Koshas, and they are often visualised as the layers of an onion.

Origins

The five sheaths (pancha-kosas) are described in the Taittiriya Upanishad. From gross to fine they are:

Annamaya kosha

This is the sheath of the physical self, named from the fact that it is nourished by food. Living through this layer man identifies himself with a mass of skin, flesh, fat, bones, and filth, while the man of discrimination knows his own self, the only reality that there is, as distinct from the body.

Kea (island)

Kea (Greek: Κέα), also known as Gia or Tzia (Greek: Τζια), Zea, and, in antiquity, Keos (Greek: Κέως, Latin: Ceos), is a Greek island in the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean Sea. Kea is part of the Kea-Kythnos regional unit.

Geography

It is the island of the Cyclades complex that is closest to Attica (about 1 hour by ferry from Lavrio) and is also 20 km (12 mi) from Cape Sounio as well as 60 km (37 mi) SE of Athens. Its climate is arid, and its terrain is hilly. Kea is 19 km (12 mi) long from north to south and 9 km (6 mi) wide from west to east. The area is 129 km² (50 sq mi) with the highest point being 560 m (1,837 ft) above sea level

Its capital, Ioulis, is inland at a high altitude (like most ancient Cycladic settlements, for fear of pirates) and is considered quite picturesque. Other major villages of Kea are the port of Korissia and the fishing village of Vourkari. After suffering depopulation for many decades, Kea has been recently rediscovered by Athens as a convenient destination for weekends and yachting trips. The population in 2011 was 2,455.

Krishna

Krishna (/ˈkrɪʃnə/; Sanskrit: कृष्ण, Kṛṣṇa in IAST, pronounced [ˈkr̩ʂɳə]) is a Hindu deity, worshipped across many traditions of Hinduism in a variety of different perspectives. Krishna is recognized as the complete and eighth avatar of the God Vishnu or as the Supreme God in his own right. Krishna is one of the most widely revered and popular of all Hindu deities.

Krishna is known by many names such as Kishan, Makhanchor, and Kanha. Krishna is often described and portrayed as an infant eating butter, a young boy playing a flute as in the Bhagavata Purana, a young man along with Radha or as an elder giving direction and guidance as in the Bhagavad Gita. The stories of Krishna appear across a broad spectrum of Hindu philosophical and theological traditions. They portray him in various perspectives: a god-child, a prankster, a model lover, a divine hero, and the Supreme Being. The principal scriptures discussing Krishna's story are the Mahabharata, the Harivamsa, the Bhagavata Purana, and the Vishnu Purana.

Entertainment Software Rating Board

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is a self-regulatory organization that assigns age and content ratings, enforces industry-adopted advertising guidelines, and ensures responsible online privacy principles for computer and video games in the United States, nearly all of Canada, and Mexico. The ESRB was established in 1994 by the Entertainment Software Association (formerly the Interactive Digital Software Association), in response to criticism of violent content found in video games such as Night Trap, Mortal Kombat, and other controversial video games with excessively violent or sexual content.

The board assigns ratings to games based on their content, using judgment similar to the motion picture rating systems used in many countries, using a combination of six age-based levels intended to aid consumers in determining a game's content and suitability, along with a system of "content descriptors" which detail specific types of content present in a particular game. The ESRB also maintains a code of ethics for the advertising and promotion of video games—ensuring that marketing materials for games display their ESRB ratings information, and are targeted to appropriate audiences, and an online privacy certification program. In 2011, the ESRB began a program for rating mobile apps in partnership with CTIA. The ESRB is also a member of the International Age Rating Coalition.

K.A. (Kohntarkosz Anteria)

K.A. (Köhntarkösz Anteria) is an album released by French progressive rock band Magma in 2004. The album was Magma's first full-length studio release in over 20 years. The material was largely composed by drummer Christian Vander in 1973-1974, and fragments of it can be heard on Magma's 1977 live album Inédits.

K.A. is sung almost entirely in Magma's constructed language Kobaïan, apart from a short passage in French ("Les Musiciens du Bord du Monde").

Legacy

This album is part of the Köhntarkösz cycle of albums. It is the prequel to Köhntarkösz (1974). The final installment in the trilogy, released in November 2009, is Ëmëhntëhtt-Rê.

The Köhntarkösz trilogy describes the spiritual quest of two men to understand the intimate workings of the forces of the universe and achieve immortality. The quest was begun by Ëmëhntëhtt-Rê, an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who devoted his life to spiritual efforts, but who was murdered shortly before he could reach the final attainment.
