Honolulu Airport is world famous for the novel way in which it welcomes its visitors. A sweetly scented floral chain is placed around the neck of all those who arrive and the friendly smiles of the local people are irresistible. Normal routine is cast aside and dreams become reality.
The Hawaiian Islands are located in the Pacific Ocean and make up the 50th state of the United States of America. The island of Oahu is situated in the centre of the archipelago. The modern city of Honolulu is the capital of both Oahu and all the other islands. It is also the starting point of numerous excursions.
King David Kalakaua had the Iolani Palace built, a magnificent Victorian structure situated in the centre of Honolulu and the only royal palace in the USA.
The Nu'uanu Pali Valley is of great importance in Hawaiian history. It was there that a decisive battle took place when King Kamehameh arrived from Maui and triumphantly drove the troops of the O´ahu chief into the mountains, a battle that gave rise to the political union of the Hawaiian Islands.
Close to Honolulu, Pearl Harbor was the scene of a major military tragedy. During an unexpected attack, practically the whole of the American Pacific fleet was bombed by the Japanese and destroyed. The attack on the U.S. naval base was the ultimate reason that the United States eventually took part in the Second World War.
In winter, the most dedicated surfers collect on Sunset Beach to experience the world's most sought-after waves, some of which are as high as the tallest church steeples. Between Kawela Bay and Haleiwa, each winter the best surfers in the world meet for the Surfing World Championships.
'Aloha!' is Hawaii's magical word. It means 'Welcome', 'Good-Bye' and also 'Love'. Life is so simple in paradise!

01. USS Arizona Memorial
Marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed on USS Arizona (BB-39) during the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 and commemorates the events of that day. The memorial, built in 1962, is visited by more than two million people annually. The attack on Pearl Harbor and the island of Oʻahu was the action that led to the United States' direct involvement in World War II.
02. Hanauma Bay
A marine embayment formed within a tuff ring and located along the southeast coast of the Island of Oʻahu. One of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island. In 1956, dynamite was used to clear portions of the reef to make room for telephone cables linking Hawaii to the west coast of the US.
03. ʻIolani Palace
Was the royal residence of the rulers of the Kingdom of Hawaii beginning with Kamehameha III under the Kamehameha Dynasty (1845) and ending with Queen Liliʻuokalani (1893) under the Kalākaua Dynasty, founded by her brother, King David Kalākaua.
04. Manoa Falls
A waterfall in Manoa, on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, featuring a vertical drop of about 150 feet (46 m). It is accessible from the nearest road by a hike of approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km). The length of the hike will take approximately 2 hours to reach the waterfall. The hike passes through many ecosystems and feels like an arboretum, which makes it a great photo-zone.
05. Honolulu Zoo
A 42-acre (17 ha) zoo located in Queen Kapiʻolani Park. The only zoo in the United States to be established by grants made by a sovereign monarch, and is built on part of the 300 acres (121 ha) royal Queen Kapiʻolani Park. Features over 1,230 animals in specially designed habitats.
06. National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific
A national cemetery located at Punchbowl Crater. Known as Punchbowl Cemetery. Serves as a memorial to honor those men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces, and those who have given their lives in doing so. One of the most popular tourist attractions in Hawaii.
07. Waikiki Aquarium
An aquarium in Honolulu. Founded in 1904, it is the second oldest public aquarium in the United States. Built next to a living coral reef on the Waikiki shoreline. ome to more than 3,500 organisms of 490 species of marine plants and animals.
08. Haiku Stairs
A steep hiking trail on the island of Oʻahu. Known as the Stairway to Heaven or Haʻikū Ladder. The total 3,922 steps span along Oahu's Ko'olau mountain range. Beginning in 1942, contractors for the United States Navy began construction of the Haʻikū Radio Station, a top secret facility that was to be used to transmit radio signals to the Navy ships that were then operating throughout the Pacific.
09. Wet'n'Wild Hawaii
A Hawaiian water park, located in the Oahu city Kapolei. Occupies 25 acres (100,000 m2) of land and has 25 rides and attractions. Currently the only water park in the state of Hawaii. It is one of seven water parks operating under the Wet'n'Wild brand globally.
10. Hālona Blowhole
A rock formation and a blowhole on the island of Oahu. On windy days when the tide is high, the ocean breeze sends the waves rolling on to the shore where the rock formation then shoots sea spray high into the air through the cave acting like a geyser. Is most active when the tide is high and the winds are strong.

Our first trip to America's 50th state, our experience was beyond phenomenal. Staying on the island of Oahu, we were able to enjoy the creature comforts of the big city (Honolulu) while at the same time explore the astounding beaches, the extraordinary beauty of the topography, the quaintness of the countryside. We jam-packed our weeklong voyage with snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, hiking the 700+ foot high Diamond Head, parasailing up to 1000 feet up in the air, jetskiing, visiting the somber Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, attending a luau and driving to Kailua (where I believe I found the best postcard perfect beach) and the north shore all the way to Waimea Bay. This of course, still left us with laying-out-in-the-beach time at world famous Waikiki by our hotel. Indeed, this will not be our last visit to Oahu.

USS Arizona Memorial Marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed on USS Arizona (BB-39) during the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 and commemorates the events of that day. The memorial, built in 1962, is visited by more than two million people annually. The attack on Pearl Harbor and the island of Oʻahu was the action that led to the United States' direct involvement in World War II. 02. Hanauma Bay A marine embayment formed within a tuff ring and located along the southeast coast of the Island of Oʻahu. One of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island. In 1956, dynamite was used to clear portions of the reef to make room for telephone cables linking Hawaii to the west coast of the US. 03. ʻIolani Palace Was the royal residence of the rulers of the Kingdom of Hawaii beginning with Kamehameha III under the Kamehameha Dynasty (1845) and ending with Queen Liliʻuokalani (1893) under the Kalākaua Dynasty, founded by her brother, King David Kalākaua. 04. Manoa Falls A waterfall in Manoa, on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, featuring a vertical drop of about 150 feet (46 m). It is accessible from the nearest road by a hike of approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km). The length of the hike will take approximately 2 hours to reach the waterfall. The hike passes through many ecosystems and feels like an arboretum, which makes it a great photo-zone. 05. Honolulu Zoo A 42-acre (17 ha) zoo located in Queen Kapiʻolani Park. The only zoo in the United States to be established by grants made by a sovereign monarch, and is built on part of the 300 acres (121 ha) royal Queen Kapiʻolani Park. Features over 1,230 animals in specially designed habitats. 06. National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific A national cemetery located at Punchbowl Crater. Known as Punchbowl Cemetery. Serves as a memorial to honor those men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces, and those who have given their lives in doing so. One of the most popular tourist attractions in Hawaii. 07. Waikiki Aquarium An aquarium in Honolulu. Founded in 1904, it is the second oldest public aquarium in the United States. Built next to a living coral reef on the Waikiki shoreline. ome to more than 3,500 organisms of 490 species of marine plants and animals. 08. Haiku Stairs A steep hiking trail on the island of Oʻahu. Known as the Stairway to Heaven or Haʻikū Ladder. The total 3,922 steps span along Oahu's Ko'olau mountain range. Beginning in 1942, contractors for the United States Navy began construction of the Haʻikū Radio Station, a top secret facility that was to be used to transmit radio signals to the Navy ships that were then operating throughout the Pacific. 09. Wet'n'Wild Hawaii A Hawaiian water park, located in the Oahu city Kapolei. Occupies 25 acres (100,000 m2) of land and has 25 rides and attractions. Currently the only water park in the state of Hawaii. It is one of seven water parks operating under the Wet'n'Wild brand globally. 10. Hālona Blowhole A rock formation and a blowhole on the island of Oahu. On windy days when the tide is high, the ocean breeze sends the waves rolling on to the shore where the rock formation then shoots sea spray high into the air through the cave acting like a geyser. Is most active when the tide is high and the winds are strong. Our first trip to America's 50th state, our experience was beyond phenomenal. Staying on the island of Oahu, we were able to enjoy the creature comforts of the big city (Honolulu) while at the same time explore the astounding beaches, the extraordinary beauty of the topography, the quaintness of the countryside. We jam-packed our weeklong voyage with snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, hiking the 700+ foot high Diamond Head, parasailing up to 1000 feet up in the air, jetskiing, visiting the somber Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, attending a luau and driving to Kailua (where I believe I found the best postcard perfect beach) and the north shore all the way to Waimea Bay. This of course, still left us with laying-out-in-the-beach time at world famous Waikiki by our hotel. Indeed, this will not be our last visit to Oahu.

Our first trip to America's 50th state, our experience was beyond phenomenal. Staying on the island of Oahu, we were able to enjoy the creature comforts of the big city (Honolulu) while at the same time explore the astounding beaches, the extraordinary beauty of the topography, the quaintness of the countryside. We jam-packed our weeklong voyage with snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, hiking the 700+ foot high Diamond Head, parasailing up to 1000 feet up in the air, jetskiing, visiting the somber Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, attending a luau and driving to Kailua (where I believe I found the best postcard perfect beach) and the north shore all the way to Waimea Bay. The Nu'uanu Pali Valley is of great importance in Hawaiian history. It was there that a decisive battle took place when King Kamehameh arrived from Maui and triumphantly drove the troops of the O´ahu chief into the mountains, a battle that gave rise to the political union of the Hawaiian Islands.
Close to Honolulu, Pearl Harbor was the scene of a major military tragedy. During an unexpected attack, practically the whole of the American Pacific fleet was bombed by the Japanese and destroyed. The attack on the U.S. naval base was the ultimate reason that the United States eventually took part in the Second World War.
In winter, the most dedicated surfers collect on Sunset Beach to experience the world's most sought-after waves, some of which are as high as the tallest church steeples. Between Kawela Bay and Haleiwa, each winter the best surfers in the world meet for the Surfing World Championships.
'Aloha!' is Hawaii's magical word. It means 'Welcome', 'Good-Bye' and also 'Love'. Life is so simple in paradise!

01. USS Arizona Memorial
Marks the resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 sailors and Marines killed on USS Arizona (BB-39) during the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 and commemorates the events of that day. The memorial, built in 1962, is visited by more than two million people annually. The attack on Pearl Harbor and the island of Oʻahu was the action that led to the United States' direct involvement in World War II.
02. Hanauma Bay
A marine embayment formed within a tuff ring and located along the southeast coast of the Island of Oʻahu. One of the most popular tourist destinations on the Island. In 1956, dynamite was used to clear portions of the reef to make room for telephone cables linking Hawaii to the west coast of the US.
03. ʻIolani Palace
Was the royal residence of the rulers of the Kingdom of Hawaii beginning with Kamehameha III under the Kamehameha Dynasty (1845) and ending with Queen Liliʻuokalani (1893) under the Kalākaua Dynasty, founded by her brother, King David Kalākaua.
04. Manoa Falls
A waterfall in Manoa, on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, featuring a vertical drop of about 150 feet (46 m). It is accessible from the nearest road by a hike of approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km). The length of the hike will take approximately 2 hours to reach the waterfall. The hike passes through many ecosystems and feels like an arboretum, which makes it a great photo-zone.
05. Honolulu Zoo
A 42-acre (17 ha) zoo located in Queen Kapiʻolani Park. The only zoo in the United States to be established by grants made by a sovereign monarch, and is built on part of the 300 acres (121 ha) royal Queen Kapiʻolani Park. Features over 1,230 animals in specially designed habitats.
06. National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific
A national cemetery located at Punchbowl Crater. Known as Punchbowl Cemetery. Serves as a memorial to honor those men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces, and those who have given their lives in doing so. One of the most popular tourist attractions in Hawaii.
07. Waikiki Aquarium
An aquarium in Honolulu. Founded in 1904, it is the second oldest public aquarium in the United States. Built next to a living coral reef on the Waikiki shoreline. ome to more than 3,500 organisms of 490 species of marine plants and animals.
08. Haiku Stairs
A steep hiking trail on the island of Oʻahu. Known as the Stairway to Heaven or Haʻikū Ladder. The total 3,922 steps span along Oahu's Ko'olau mountain range. Beginning in 1942, contractors for the United States Navy began construction of the Haʻikū Radio Station, a top secret facility that was to be used to transmit radio signals to the Navy ships that were then operating throughout the Pacific.
09. Wet'n'Wild Hawaii
A Hawaiian water park, located in the Oahu city Kapolei. Occupies 25 acres (100,000 m2) of land and has 25 rides and attractions. Currently the only water park in the state of Hawaii. It is one of seven water parks operating under the Wet'n'Wild brand globally.
10. Hālona Blowhole
A rock formation and a blowhole on the island of Oahu. On windy days when the tide is high, the ocean breeze sends the waves rolling on to the shore where the rock formation then shoots sea spray high into the air through the cave acting like a geyser. Is most active when the tide is high and the winds are strong.

Our first trip to America's 50th state, our experience was beyond phenomenal. Staying on the island of Oahu, we were able to enjoy the creature comforts of the big city (Honolulu) while at the same time explore the astounding beaches, the extraordinary beauty of the topography, the quaintness of the countryside. We jam-packed our weeklong voyage with snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, hiking the 700+ foot high Diamond Head, parasailing up to 1000 feet up in the air, jetskiing, visiting the somber Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, attending a luau and driving to Kailua (where I believe I found the best postcard perfect beach) and the north shore all the way to Waimea Bay. This of course, still left us with laying-out-in-the-beach time at world famous Waikiki by our hotel. Indeed, this will not be our last visit to Oahu.

The Haleakala National Park contains the world’s greatest dormant volcano and the clear night skies of this unique region have made it ideal for the observation of stars and satellites. What could be better than to observe the colourful transformation of the landscape while lying on a beach surrounded by palm trees and falling under the spell of this enchanting island paradise? Chittagong // Cyclone Roanu killed 23 people in Bangladesh on Saturday and forced hundreds of thousands to flee their homes amid strong winds and heavy downpours. Authorities took more than 500,000 people into shelters as the cyclone made landfall just after noon, packing winds of up to 88 kilometres per hour ...
