We had always heard anecdotes and stories of the Games and I'm convinced that sevens is a sport that has the same the same (Olympic) spirit, where there are a lot of youngsters who are growing within the sport, where their maturity flourishes, where the competition and being competitive is most important thing. MORE OF TEAM TRAINING STORY: Argentina's rugby sevens team has been training hard for the Rio Olympics, which will be an emotional experience for competitors, coach Santiago Gomez recently said. Argentina will get a boost playing close to home and without suffering from the time difference that is a big factor on the sevens circuit. Coach Santiago Gomez Cora called the Olympics the ultimate sporting experience. "To go to the Olympic Games will be something amazing. It's something we have been dreaming about for years ever since they started talking about including sevens in the Olympics. Gomez said having qualified for the Olympics was one of the highlights of his career as coach. "To have qualified is one of the most important goals of my short career as coach. So, to continue with commitment and pride and redouble our efforts because it will be the first time we are in an Olympic Games and it will be something unique," said 37-year-old Gomez. Argentina backs Santiago Cordero and Matias Moroni, who thrilled fans at the 2015 World Cup in Britain, will be back at Twickenham this month looking to cement places in the team. The pair, part of the Jaguares squad in the new franchise's debut season in Super Rugby, have been drafted into the Pumas party for the last two legs of the world sevens circuit in Paris this week and London a week later, their final competition before the August Games. Gomez told Reuters the duo could give a jolt to the Argentine side as they prepare for Rio 2016. Cordero and Moroni are quick and well suited to sevens, having played on the circuit before becoming established Pumas, but getting back into the shorter game could still prove challenging.
