The warm water helps the hairs cuticles to open and allow moisture in. Applying products to closed cuticle will cause breakage and eventually lead to chronic dryness. I Moisturize my hair 1x to 2x per week. Everyone's hair is different so what works for you. Most LP ladies prefer the LCO method vs LOC method, but use whatever method that works for you.
