Brooklyn Park, Minnesota - Video from a squad car showing a vicious attack on a Brooklyn Park police officer last November is now public.
It reveals a desperate struggle to survive as a man wanted on an outstanding felony warrant grabs for the officer’s gun. The video released Thursday captures the officer’s screams for help as 25-year-old Lance Carr begins punching, choking and wrestling with officer Sean Hyman.
Hennepin County jurors watched the compelling video and convicted Carr of felony assault of a police officer.
Just minutes after officer Sean Hyman stopped a white car on a noise complaint, he learns the driver, Carr, is wanted on a felony theft warrant.
“He asked Carr to step out of the vehicle and place his hands behind his back,” Brooklyn Park Police Chief Chief Craig Enevoldsen said.
But when officer Hyman attempts the arrest, trouble begins. Carr suddenly turns and repeatedly punches Hyman. The two lock in a struggle and fall to the ground.
“At that point I think he (Hyman) knows or determines that this is a fight for his life,” Enevoldsen said.
On Thursday, law enforcement released the nine-minute video to show the public why no police officer’s stop is ever routine. Officer Hyman is on patrol alone that night and begins screaming help. At that point, neighbors hear his screams and call 911 for police backup.
You can hear citizens screaming at Carr to get off the officer, but to no avail.
“Had officer Hyman not done some of the things he had done to get additional help, I think this ends much differently,” Enevoldsen said.
But before that help arrives, Hyman fires his gun but misses Carr. There’s a struggle for Hyman’s pistol, and he ejects the clip, rendering it unable to fire additional rounds.
Finally, three minutes after the struggle begins, sirens are heard and backup arrives.
But even then, Carr doesn’t stop his assault of Hyman. It took a shot fired from a police officer’s Taser gun and the tackling of three other officers to do that.
“This could have had a very different outcome if the officers had not arrived when they did and/or the citizens had not intervened how they chose to intervene that night,” Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek said.
Officer Hyman was off the job for 16 days after the incident – he’s now back on patrol.
Sentencing for Lance Carr will be June 17, where he could face a penalty of between 10 to 20 years for the first-degree felony assault of officer Hyman.

In the early hours of Sept. 28, a man in a parking lot was pointing a BB gun at a Fargo police officer. Yelling at the top of his lungs, the officer repeatedly ordered the man to drop the weapon, to no avail. The encounter ended with the officer, Patrick Thomas, shooting the man with the BB pistol, 31-year-old Karmen Redshirt. Authorities said the pistol had a laser light and looked like a real handgun.
The camera system in Thomas' squad car captured the video that shows the officer pulling into the parking lot of the Pizza Hut at 4701 13th Ave. S., near the Fargo Wal-Mart. Thomas steps out of the car and right away starts shouting at Redshirt, telling him he'll be fired upon if he doesn't drop the gun. The video shows that Thomas spent close to 40 seconds trying to convince Redshirt to drop the gun. Ultimately, Thomas fired three shots. One round hit Redshirt in the abdomen, causing a wound that required surgery and months of recovery.
Cass County State's Attorney Birch Burdick reviewed an investigation of the shooting done by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and he declined to file criminal charges against Thomas. The Fargo Police Department's internal review of the shooting found that Thomas' use of force was justified. Redshirt's brother, Cody Redshirt, has questioned Thomas' decision to shoot his brother and to fire three rounds.
The shooting came after Redshirt led police on a chase in a stolen car. Redshirt's blood-alcohol level that morning was 0.279 percent, authorities said. The legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent. Redshirt, of Bismarck, pleaded guilty to felony charges of theft, reckless endangerment and two counts of terrorizing, as well as a misdemeanor charge of refusing to halt. Redshirt was sentenced last month to four years in prison and three years of supervised probation. He's being held at the North Dakota State Penitentiary.

This little girl might have died if this officer didn't carry her to safety from what was a deadly apartment fire. That was in 1998. Now, the two of them can be seen smiling together at her college graduation. Josie Aponte from Hartford, Connecticut was 5-years-old at the time and still cries about that terrible day. In 2014, she had the courage to message her hero on Facebook. The two have been friends ever since.

POV Vlog of a motor officer riding point in a Police funeral procession...
I recorded this footage on November 6th 2014 during the escort and funeral services for my good friend, Pomona Police Officer Shaun Diamond. He was killed in the line of duty on October 29th, 2014.
I was honored by being taken in by the Pomona Police Motors to ride directly in front of the coach that was transporting Shaun. I filled in for another friend and partner, Motor Officer Eli Linn who himself had passed away earlier in the year.
At times during this procession, I struggled to see through the stream of tears that ran down my face inside my helmet. The outpouring of love and support from the City Of Pomona and the community was truly moving.... The hundreds of children that lined the route of the funeral procession, most with their hands over their hearts was something that I'll never ever forget.
As I upload this video on the evening of National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day, I reflect on those who are no longer with us that I have had the pleasure and honor of working with over the last 21 years. Amazing people we have lost along the way... People who have helped me become the person I am today.
I took Shaun's death especially hard, as did many others... He was a truly special person.
I'll never forget how he was the first person at my side on a warm August night in 1998 when I needed help, and someone to tell me that everything was going to be ok... Shaun was that kind of "go-to-guy".. He was there for me.
To Shaun's family, friends and coworkers, I carry his memory with me every single day that I put on that uniform. I'll never forget him. He was a great man.

** Subscribe for more: https://goo.gl/5clm0J ** In the early hours of Sept. 28, a man in a parking lot was pointing a BB gun at a Fargo police officer. Yelling at the top of his lungs, the officer repeatedly ordered the man to drop the weapon, to no avail. The encounter ended with the officer, Patrick Thomas, shooting the man with the BB pistol, 31-year-old Karmen Redshirt. Authorities said the pistol had a laser light and looked like a real handgun. The camera system in Thomas' squad car captured the video that shows the officer pulling into the parking lot of the Pizza Hut at 4701 13th Ave. S., near the Fargo Wal-Mart. Thomas steps out of the car and right away starts shouting at Redshirt, telling him he'll be fired upon if he doesn't drop the gun. The video shows that Thomas spent close to 40 seconds trying to convince Redshirt to drop the gun. Ultimately, Thomas fired three shots. One round hit Redshirt in the abdomen, causing a wound that required surgery and months of recovery. Cass County State's Attorney Birch Burdick reviewed an investigation of the shooting done by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and he declined to file criminal charges against Thomas. The Fargo Police Department's internal review of the shooting found that Thomas' use of force was justified. Redshirt's brother, Cody Redshirt, has questioned Thomas' decision to shoot his brother and to fire three rounds. The shooting came after Redshirt led police on a chase in a stolen car. Redshirt's blood-alcohol level that morning was 0.279 percent, authorities said. The legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent. Redshirt, of Bismarck, pleaded guilty to felony charges of theft, reckless endangerment and two counts of terrorizing, as well as a misdemeanor charge of refusing to halt. Redshirt was sentenced last month to four years in prison and three years of supervised probation. POV Vlog of a motor officer riding point in a Police funeral procession... I recorded this footage on November 6th 2014 during the escort and funeral services for my good friend, Pomona Police Officer Shaun Diamond. He was killed in the line of duty on October 29th, 2014. I was honored by being taken in by the Pomona Police Motors to ride directly in front of the coach that was transporting Shaun. I filled in for another friend and partner, Motor Officer Eli Linn who himself had passed away earlier in the year. At times during this procession, I struggled to see through the stream of tears that ran down my face inside my helmet. The outpouring of love and support from the City Of Pomona and the community was truly moving.... The hundreds of children that lined the route of the funeral procession, most with their hands over their hearts was something that I'll never ever forget. As I upload this video on the evening of National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day, I reflect on those who are no longer with us that I have had the pleasure and honor of working with over the last 21 years. Amazing people we have lost along the way... People who have helped me become the person I am today. I took Shaun's death especially hard, as did many others... He was a truly special person. I'll never forget how he was the first person at my side on a warm August night in 1998 when I needed help, and someone to tell me that everything was going to be ok... Shaun was that kind of "go-to-guy".. He was there for me. To Shaun's family, friends and coworkers, I carry his memory with me every single day that I put on that uniform. I'll never forget him. He was a great man. Brooklyn Park, Minnesota - Video from a squad car showing a vicious attack on a Brooklyn Park police officer last November is now public.
It reveals a desperate struggle to survive as a man wanted on an outstanding felony warrant grabs for the officer’s gun. The video released Thursday captures the officer’s screams for help as 25-year-old Lance Carr begins punching, choking and wrestling with officer Sean Hyman.
Hennepin County jurors watched the compelling video and convicted Carr of felony assault of a police officer.
Just minutes after officer Sean Hyman stopped a white car on a noise complaint, he learns the driver, Carr, is wanted on a felony theft warrant.
“He asked Carr to step out of the vehicle and place his hands behind his back,” Brooklyn Park Police Chief Chief Craig Enevoldsen said.
But when officer Hyman attempts the arrest, trouble begins. Carr suddenly turns and repeatedly punches Hyman. The two lock in a struggle and fall to the ground.
“At that point I think he (Hyman) knows or determines that this is a fight for his life,” Enevoldsen said.
On Thursday, law enforcement released the nine-minute video to show the public why no police officer’s stop is ever routine. Officer Hyman is on patrol alone that night and begins screaming help. At that point, neighbors hear his screams and call 911 for police backup.
You can hear citizens screaming at Carr to get off the officer, but to no avail.
“Had officer Hyman not done some of the things he had done to get additional help, I think this ends much differently,” Enevoldsen said.
But before that help arrives, Hyman fires his gun but misses Carr. There’s a struggle for Hyman’s pistol, and he ejects the clip, rendering it unable to fire additional rounds.
Finally, three minutes after the struggle begins, sirens are heard and backup arrives.
But even then, Carr doesn’t stop his assault of Hyman. It took a shot fired from a police officer’s Taser gun and the tackling of three other officers to do that.
“This could have had a very different outcome if the officers had not arrived when they did and/or the citizens had not intervened how they chose to intervene that night,” Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek said.
Officer Hyman was off the job for 16 days after the incident – he’s now back on patrol.
Sentencing for Lance Carr will be June 17, where he could face a penalty of between 10 to 20 years for the first-degree felony assault of officer Hyman.

In the early hours of Sept. 28, a man in a parking lot was pointing a BB gun at a Fargo police officer. Yelling at the top of his lungs, the officer repeatedly ordered the man to drop the weapon, to no avail. The encounter ended with the officer, Patrick Thomas, shooting the man with the BB pistol, 31-year-old Karmen Redshirt. Authorities said the pistol had a laser light and looked like a real handgun.
The camera system in Thomas' squad car captured the video that shows the officer pulling into the parking lot of the Pizza Hut at 4701 13th Ave. S., near the Fargo Wal-Mart. Thomas steps out of the car and right away starts shouting at Redshirt, telling him he'll be fired upon if he doesn't drop the gun. The video shows that Thomas spent close to 40 seconds trying to convince Redshirt to drop the gun. Ultimately, Thomas fired three shots. One round hit Redshirt in the abdomen, causing a wound that required surgery and months of recovery.
Cass County State's Attorney Birch Burdick reviewed an investigation of the shooting done by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and he declined to file criminal charges against Thomas. The Fargo Police Department's internal review of the shooting found that Thomas' use of force was justified. Redshirt's brother, Cody Redshirt, has questioned Thomas' decision to shoot his brother and to fire three rounds.
The shooting came after Redshirt led police on a chase in a stolen car. Redshirt's blood-alcohol level that morning was 0.279 percent, authorities said. The legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent. Redshirt, of Bismarck, pleaded guilty to felony charges of theft, reckless endangerment and two counts of terrorizing, as well as a misdemeanor charge of refusing to halt. Redshirt was sentenced last month to four years in prison and three years of supervised probation. He's being held at the North Dakota State Penitentiary.

In the early hours of Sept. 28, a man in a parking lot was pointing a BB gun at a Fargo police officer. Yelling at the top of his lungs, the officer repeatedly ordered the man to drop the weapon, to no avail. The encounter ended with the officer, Patrick Thomas, shooting the man with the BB pistol, 31-year-old Karmen Redshirt. Authorities said the pistol had a laser light and looked like a real handgun.
The camera system in Thomas' squad car captured the video that shows the officer pulling into the parking lot of the Pizza Hut at 4701 13th Ave. S., near the Fargo Wal-Mart. Thomas steps out of the car and right away starts shouting at Redshirt, telling him he'll be fired upon if he doesn't drop the gun. The video shows that Thomas spent close to 40 seconds trying to convince Redshirt to drop the gun. Ultimately, Thomas fired three shots. One round hit Redshirt in the abdomen, causing a wound that required surgery and months of recovery.
Cass County State's Attorney Birch Burdick reviewed an investigation of the shooting done by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and he declined to file criminal charges against Thomas. The Fargo Police Department's internal review of the shooting found that Thomas' use of force was justified. Redshirt's brother, Cody Redshirt, has questioned Thomas' decision to shoot his brother and to fire three rounds.
The shooting came after Redshirt led police on a chase in a stolen car. Redshirt's blood-alcohol level that morning was 0.279 percent, authorities said. The legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent. Redshirt, of Bismarck, pleaded guilty to felony charges of theft, reckless endangerment and two counts of terrorizing, as well as a misdemeanor charge of refusing to halt. Redshirt was sentenced last month to four years in prison and three years of supervised probation. He's being held at the North Dakota State Penitentiary.

I recorded this footage on November 6th 2014 during the escort and funeral services for my good friend, Pomona Police Officer Shaun Diamond. He was killed in the line of duty on October 29th, 2014.
I was honored by being taken in by the Pomona Police Motors to ride directly in front of the coach that was transporting Shaun. I filled in for another friend and partner, Motor Officer Eli Linn who himself had passed away earlier in the year.
At times during this procession, I struggled to see through the stream of tears that ran down my face inside my helmet. The outpouring of love and support from the City Of Pomona and the community was truly moving.... The hundreds of children that lined the route of the funeral procession, most with their hands over their hearts was something that I'll never ever forget.
As I upload this video on the evening of National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day, I reflect on those who are no longer with us that I have had the pleasure and honor of working with over the last 21 years. Amazing people we have lost along the way... People who have helped me become the person I am today.
I took Shaun's death especially hard, as did many others... He was a truly special person.
I'll never forget how he was the first person at my side on a warm August night in 1998 when I needed help, and someone to tell me that everything was going to be ok... Shaun was that kind of "go-to-guy".. He was there for me.
To Shaun's family, friends and coworkers, I carry his memory with me every single day that I put on that uniform. I'll never forget him. He was a great man.

EL CAJON - August 21, 2011 - An El Cajon Police officer is shot right in front of a news camera. The entire incident is caught on camera including the shots fired, officer rescue, SWAT standoff, house fire, helicopter water drops and more.
The suspect, Kevin Collier, shot his 1-year old daughter and his mother-in-law. Police arrived and surrounded the home (including our photog). Officers were then met with gunfire from the suspect who had a rifle. Officer Jarred Slocum was leaning over the bed of a pickup truck with only his head exposed. He was struck in the left temple and the bullet exited the rear of his skull. He was NOT shot in the neck, as it appears and was initially perceived in the heat of the moment. The suspect then set the house on fire before shooting himself. The fire department could not approach the home because officers could not confirm if the suspect was dead or not. Firefighters are not going to walk up to a home with the possibility of a man inside with a rifle. Officers requested Mercy Air for transport, but instead took the wounded officer by ground in a patrol car as it would be quicker. This was on a dead-end street, so the rescue of having to pass the line of fire was incredibly risky. A gas line explodes at one point (bluish smoke). SWAT set up and worked with the fire department to help slow the rate of spread of the fire. Two helicopters began water drops, which is unheard of for a structure fire, but it was the most practical and safest way to control the flames. Officer Slocum is doing well but has decided to "medically retire" from the El Cajon Police Department, move, and go back to college. The officer who was with him, Officer Tim McFarland, was a rookie at the time and was being trained by Slocum. Officer Slocum's wound, although very serious, had very very little blood loss. So for those appauled that none of us applied pressure, quite frankly it wasn't necessary and it's easy to judge what one would do while sitting behind a computer. The bigger threat was the active shooter vs only a handful of officers. And for all you anti-cop commenters, keep in mind, officers are still people with families. The people in this video are heroes who were up against a crazed man set on death and destruction.

* The officer was shot in the left temple, not the neck. Period. I was there. I shot the video. It looks like he was shot in the neck, but he was in shock and holding the wrong area. You can see the exit wound in the back of his head in the video. See the followup interview with both officers if you still don't believe he was shot in the temple.
* The officer was actually shot 1/2 second before the video begins. Enable HD and pause the first few frames. You see him getting up from the chain link fence. He was thrown back from the force of the shot and bounced off the springy fence. He then gets up and returns fire.

One day he - along with his three buddies - accidentally gets selected in police selections. Venky and his friends embark on a journey from Vizag to Hyderabad to join police academy for the training. They however manage to board in sleeper class of Godavari Express without reservation. He falls in love with a co-passenger Sravani (Sneha) aboard the train. Sravani refuses the instant proposal of Venky. He also picks up a row in a state of inebriation with Sravani's father and another girl and threatens them that he would kill them. Next morning, surprisingly Sravani’s father and a co-passenger are found murdered, but Venky and his friends are not responsible for it. Feared of being blamed, Venky and his friends run away to the Hyderabad Police Academy, which is run by Yogendra Sharma (Ashutosh Rana).
There, in a TV Channel, it is reported that four guys killed two passengers in the Godavari Express. To avoid suspicion, they go to Yogendra Sharma’s room and change their date of entry. But they hide under a table only to know that the murders were done by a hired killer by Yogendra Sharma, but their main objective was to kill Sravani. They overhear Yogendra Sharma instructing the killer to kill Shravani that night. During the supposed night, Venky escapes from the Field Craft training and goes to rescue Sravani. He, after rescuing Sravani, shifts her to an old bungalow near the Police Academy and asks her to save herself, though not relying on him. Sravani believes Venky’s words and a small feeling of love buds in her, which she confesses to Venky on her birthday.
Later, on the directions of Venky, Sravani makes a call to Yogendra Sharma which leads to the discussion of a video cassette. Venky hurts the phone thus ending the call while the murderer fails to kill Sravani. Meanwhile D.C.P. Bharath (Bharath), who is a friend of Yogendra Sharma and the Police Officer dealing the Murder Mystery, tells to Yogendra that a Camera was found in that Compartment in which some photos of the suspects were taken. Venky hears this and steals those photographs and replaces them with some other photos as the originals contain Sravani and Venky’s Gang. In those photos, he observes that G.K. Gajala (Brahmanandam) is a thief who might have robbed the camera that contains the video footage. He goes to get the camera on a holiday but is cheated by Gajala.
Meanwhile Yogendra Sharma Inspects the Rooms of the Cadets and finds the original photos in Venky’s Room and releases a press note that the four (Venky and his friends) are the murderers. Yogendra Sharma is then called by Gajala to receive the camera in return for an amount of R500,000, but Venky takes the camera by force and he goes to Sravani’s friend’s house along with Sravani and his friends. There they find out that Sarat Kumar I.P.S. (Ahuti Prasad) was murdered by Yogendra Sharma in order to save himself from a fake naxallite encounter after seeing the cassette. Later Sravani recalls that her father made a call to Yogendra Sharma, telling that he was the witness of the murder of Sarat. But after knowing that he talked to the murderer himself, he escaped along with Sravani and boarded a train. Due to change in seats, Sravani didn’t die but the co-passenger was killed. Though having concrete evidence, he can’t give it to D.C.P. Bharath as he is a friend of Yogendra Sharma. Thus they seek the Governor’s Appointment.
Meanwhile Yogendra Sharma knows about this and tries to prevent them reaching Raj Bhavan but they escape anyway as the day the appointment was Holi (Festival of Colours). At the gate of Raj Bhavan, Yogendra Sharma blocks the five with his henchmen. Sravani finally runs taking the cassette and Yogendra Sharma runs behind her with a gun to stop her. He opens fire on Sravani but the bullet hurts a visitor of the Governor and Yogendra Sharma is arrested. Later the proofs are secured and the Four Friends are exonerated. Later these four are honored by Gold Medals by Chandrasekhar Rao (Suman), The DGP of Andhra Pradesh at a ceremony held by Police Academy..
