Jersey (/ˈdʒɜːrzi/, French: [ʒɛʁzɛ]; Jèrriais: Jèrri [ʒɛri]), officially the Bailiwick of Jersey (French: Bailliage de Jersey; Jèrriais: Bailliage dé Jèrri), is a Crown dependency of the United Kingdom, a possession of the Crown in right of Jersey, off the coast of Normandy, France. The bailiwick consists of the island of Jersey, along with surrounding uninhabited islands and rocks collectively named Les Dirouilles, Les Écréhous, Les Minquiers, Les Pierres de Lecq, and other reefs. Jersey was part of the Duchy of Normandy, whose dukes went on to become kings of England from 1066. After Normandy was lost by the kings of England in the thirteenth century, and the ducal title surrendered to France, Jersey and the other Channel Islands remained attached to the English crown.
Jersey is a self-governing parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy, with its own financial, legal and judicial systems, and the power of self-determination.
The island of Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands. Although the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey are often referred to collectively as the Channel Islands, the "Channel Islands" are not a constitutional or political unit. Jersey has a separate relationship to its Crown from the other Crown dependencies of Guernsey and the Isle of Man, although all three Crowns are held by the monarch of the United Kingdom. It is not part of the United Kingdom, and has an international identity separate from that of the UK, but the United Kingdom is constitutionally responsible for the defence of Jersey. The Commission have confirmed in a written reply to the European Parliament in 2003 that Jersey is within the Union as a European Territory for whose external relationships the United Kingdom is responsible. Jersey is not fully part of the European Union but has a special relationship with it, notably being treated as within the European Community for the purposes of free trade in goods.
The States of Jersey (French: États de Jersey) is the parliament and government of the British Crown dependency of Jersey.
The origins of the legislature of Jersey lie in the system of self-government according to Norman law guaranteed to the Channel Islands by King John following the division of Normandy in 1204. The Assembly of the States of Jersey has exercised uncontested legislative powers since 1771, when the concurrent law-making power of the Royal Court of Jersey was abolished.
The Assembly passes and amends laws and regulations; approves the annual budget and taxation; appoints and removes the Chief Minister, Ministers, presidents and members of committees; debates matters proposed by the Council of Ministers, by Ministers or by individual members. Members are also able to ask questions to find out information and to hold Ministers to account.Executive powers are exercised by a Chief Minister and nine ministers, elected from among the members of the States of Jersey and known collectively as the Council of Ministers. Ministers are accountable to the Assembly for the conduct of their departments.

"Don't let their story be yours", those are the words of the States of Jersey's newest series of commercials which raise awareness of Child Sexual Exploitation. The three hard-hitting commercials are part of a longer term campaign to raise awareness of CSE and the impact it is having on our island. Currently many islanders will be under the impression that CSE does not happen here, however recent cases have shown that children are becoming victims -- and many do not even realise it themselves. The three commercials, focus on the stories of three girls who are increasingly led down a path by an older boy who they believe cares for them, rather than the truth, which is that they are being exploited. The commercials, filmed by local company Freedom Media, link in to create this longer onl...

When in New Jersey, we always visit New York. This time the boys watched the Broadway play Shrek while Emma and Rae watched the Broadway play Little Mermaid. After that we went to the M&M; store, stolled around Time Square, and ate at McD's while Rae did some sidewalk vendor shopping. We had a great time! NY was particularly very busy at this time with plenty of tourists like us because it was just the 4th of July holiday yesterday. As you can see parang piyesta kahit saan ka pumunta.

States of Jersey Police have given some local residents the opportunity to spend the day with the force and act as community reporters. Individuals are given the chance to go on shift with officers and see first-hand what the police do on a daily basis. Volunteers are encouraged to tell us what they saw whilst on patrol, and detail some of the real-life issues that officers have to deal with. We encourage the Community reporters to record their experiences through video, photography and blogs to help give the public an insight into what takes place behind the scenes at the States of Jersey Police. http://www.jersey.police.uk/news-appeals/blogs/
Christmas can be a particularly vulnerable time of year for us. People going into town, spending a lot of hard earned money on Christmas presents - make sure you keep them safe when transporting them home, lock your car, don't leave them on show. Likewise when you get home - think about where you are going to keep your presents, keep them out of sight from passers by. It is also really important to security mark all your gifts and take photos of all your new presents - If they are stolen this will help us with our efforts to recover them.

The States Documentary 04 New Jersey, Arizona, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Alaska - History channel - The states documentary 2007 The show documents each of the 50 states in the union. The show begins with an introduction to the five states to be documented within the episode. Each state's segment begins with the narrator giving a clue as to what that state might be, and then revealing the answer. ( e.g. "There is a North Dakota and a South Dakota, a North Carolina and a South Carolina, but there's been one "West" anything! Welcome to West Virginia.") There is then a billboard that pops up showing the state nickname, motto, population, population ranking within the union, date the state entered the union, and state flag. During interviews with historians or notable people from a state, the state's...
Visit our website and find some great holiday deals! http://britainsbestbreak.tv Jersey has something for everyone. From golden beaches to intimate, sheltered bays to rolling countryside with pleasant walks, peaceful lanes to cycle along and beautiful golf courses. There's also something exotic about this island, far south of England's coast. With it's Anglo-French heritage and the coast of France just 14 miles away, there's a decidedly Continental ambience to it's hotels and restaurants. Yet Jersey is not a member of the EC. Although a part of Britain, Jersey bears many characteristics which set it apart from the mainland. The States of Jersey are independent and still operate under Norman law, with 12 parishes with their own individual local government, police force and distinct commu...

The legendary Jersey Devil The Jersey Devil is an incredible animal or cryptid said to possess the Pine Barrens of Southern New Jersey, United States. The animal is regularly depicted as a flying biped with hooves, however there are a wide range of varieties. The normal depiction is that of a kangaroo-like animal with the leader of a goat, weathered bat-like wings, horns, little arms with pawed hands, cloven hooves and a forked tail. It has been accounted for to move rapidly and frequently is portrayed as transmitting a "blood-turning sour shout." The Jersey Devil: The Real Story The story of the Jersey Devil has become layered with myths and variations, obscuring the original events that gave rise to it. Not surprising considering the story comes from colonial-era political intrigue, Qu...
