Hazebrouck (Dutch: Hazebroek) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. Hazebrouck in Flanders was a small market town before it became an important railway junction in the 1860s. West Flemish was the usual popular language used in the town until 1880. At that time French was taught at school by mandate of the French government in an effort to "Frenchify" the people of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and to extinguish their Flemish roots. The development of the railways linked Hazebrouck to Lille to Calais and Dunkirk.
Hazebrouck's town hall was built in the 19th century and the oldest monument of the town is St Eloi's church. During the two world wars Hazebrouck was an important military target. Many British soldiers are buried in the cemeteries around the town. In the town museum, which was originally a chapel and friary of the Augustines, visitors can see the Hazebrouck's giants: Roland, Tijse-Tajse, Toria and Babe-Tajse; a collection of Flemish and French paintings and a traditional Flemish kitchen.

A tour (in 2010 so a bit old) of the V1 site, Hazebrouck, France. Hidden in a forest to the south west of Hazebrouck, This V1 site is relatively intact even though the area was bombed quite extensively. As noted in the video, I think this site is a local meeting point for men so if visiting the site, take care walking around the woods and in particular if you plan on entering any of the bunkers. I was considering walking into one bunker while explaining its construction only to stop the camera...2 seconds later a man appeared from inside the bunker doing up his trouser zip.
Cairns is a regional city in the far north of Queensland, Australia, founded 1876. The city was named after William Wellington Cairns, then-current Governor of Queensland. It was formed to serve miners heading for the Hodgkinson River goldfield, but experienced a decline when an easier route was discovered from Port Douglas. It later developed into a railhead and major port for exporting sugar cane, gold and other metals, minerals and agricultural products from surrounding coastal areas and the Atherton Tableland region. As of June 2012, the population is approximately 153,075. The most important places to visit in Cairns are: The Great Barrier Reef, Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, Kuranda Scenic Railway, Daintree and Cape Tribulation, Dine and Wine at the Atherton Tablelands and many more. ...

Built as a mini version of Paris's Eiffel Tower, the Petrin Observation Tower was built in 1891 for the Jubilee Exhibition. The tower is 60m tall, which doesn't seem particularly high until you add in the fact that it sits at the summit of Petrin Hill, which is 318m (1043 feet) high. Climb the 299 steps to reach the top of the tower and the view over Prague is magnificent. On a clear day it is possible to see the highest peak in the Czech Republic, Snezka, which is 150km away. The Petrin Observation Tower is set in landscaped gardens, which make for a pleasant stroll all year round. In the grounds there is also a hall of mirrors, an observatory with a telescope open to the public, a church and a rose garden (small entrance fees apply for the tower, mirror maze and observatory - there is ...
The Musée des Augustins de Toulouse is a fine arts museum in Toulouse, France which conserves a collection of sculpture and paintings from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century. The paintings are from throughout France, the sculptures representing Occitan culture of the region with a particularly rich assemblage of Romanesque sculpture. The building in which the museum is sited was built in 1309 in the Gothic style and prior to the French Revolution housed Toulouse's Augustinian convent. The convent was secularized in 1793 and first opened to the public as a museum on 27 August 1795 by decree of the French Convention, very shortly after the opening of the Louvre, making it one of the oldest museums in France after the Louvre. Orient Express 13467 per Venezia Santa Lucia in transito a Treviglio
It was said that summer stopped when it hadn't even started
Rain clouds above my head revealed more once they had parted
Small things had kind of started correlating
Like I'd fall up more curbs the less I tied my laces
It's familiar, familiar, the shop front signs and their
Interiors, interiors, the tide brought a bottle so
Mysterious, mysterious, the note enclosed asked
Was I sitting on my hands?
Mark makers make marks on the world
Hey! Housebrick are you sitting in a building
Are you rested in a hand?
Are you heading for a windscreen?
Hey! Housebrick are you sitting in a building
Are you rested in a hand?
Are you heading for a windscreen now?
It seemed the autumn days were struggling in a vice
Our lazy afternoons all pressed up against the night
Some small things had kind of started making sense
I'd get more letters through the door the less I paid the rent
And when the rent is due, the rent is due, the pounds and the pennies find
More interesting things to do, the wind brought a treasure map
Whose directions I followed through
But when I dug the ground I found the bottom of a hole
Mark makers make marks on the world
Hey! Housebrick are you sitting in a building
Are you rested in a hand?
Are you heading for a windscreen?
Hey! Housebrick are you sitting in a building
Are you rested in a hand?
Are you heading for a windscreen now?
You were meant to keep us safe
And sit tall upon the landscape
But you fly on the wings of fate
Hey! Housebrick are you sitting in a building
Are you rested in a hand?
Are you heading for a windscreen?
Hey! Housebrick are you sitting in a building
Are you rested in a hand?
Are you heading for a windscreen now?
