Thorley Walters (12 May 1913– 6 July 1991) was an English character actor. He is probably best remembered for his comedy film roles such as in Two-Way Stretch and Carlton-Browne of the FO.
Walters was born in Teigngrace, Devon, the son of Prebendary T. C. Walters of Silverton, Devon.
He featured in three of the St Trinian's films, starting as an army major in Blue Murder at St Trinian's. He later appeared as Butters, assistant to Education Ministry senior civil servant Culpepper-Brown (Eric Barker) in The Pure Hell of St Trinian's and played the part of Culpepper-Brown in The Wildcats of St Trinian's.
In the 1960s he also appeared in several Hammer horror films, including The Phantom of the Opera (1962), Dracula, Prince of Darkness (1966), Frankenstein Created Woman (1967), Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (1969) and Vampire Circus (1972).
Walters played Sherlock Holmes's sidekick Doctor Watson in four unrelated films: Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace (1962), The Best House in London (1969), The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother (1975), and Silver Blaze (1977).
Vampire Circus is a 1972 British horror film, directed by Robert Young. It was written by Judson Kinberg, and produced by Wilbur Stark and Michael Carreras (who was uncredited) for Hammer Film Productions. It stars Adrienne Corri, Thorley Walters and Anthony Higgins (billed as Anthony Corlan). The story concerns a travelling circus whose vampiric artists prey on the children of a 19th-century Austrian village. It was filmed at Pinewood Studios.
One evening near the small Austrian village of Stetl, early in the nineteenth century, schoolmaster Albert Müller witnesses his lovely wife Anna taking a little girl, Jenny Schilt, into the castle of Count Mitterhaus, a reclusive nobleman rumored to be a vampire responsible for the disappearances of other children. The rumors prove true, as Anna, who has become Mitterhaus' willing acolyte and mistress, hands the innocent Jenny over to him to be drained of her blood. Men from the village, led by Müller and including Jenny's father Mr. Schilt and the Burgermeister, invade the castle and attack the Count. After the vampire kills several of them, Müller succeeds in driving a wooden stake through his heart. With his dying breath, Mitterhaus curses the villagers, vowing that their children will die to give him back his life. The angry villagers then drag Anna outside and force her to run the gauntlet, but when her husband intervenes, she runs back into the castle where the briefly revived Count tells her to find his cousin Emil at "the Circus of Night". After laying out his body in the crypt, she escapes through an underground tunnel as the villagers blow the castle up with gunpowder and set fire to it.
Terence Fisher (23 February 1904 – 18 June 1980) was a British film director who worked for Hammer Films. He was born in Maida Vale, a district of London.
Fisher was one of the most prominent horror directors of the second half of the 20th century. He was the first to bring gothic horror alive in full colour, and the sexual overtones and explicit horror in his films, while mild by modern standards, were unprecedented in his day. His first major gothic horror film was The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), which launched Hammer's long association with the genre and made British actors Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee leading horror stars of the era. He went on to film a number of adaptations of classic horror subjects, including Dracula (1958), The Hound of the Baskervilles (1959) and The Mummy (1959).
Given their subject matter and lurid approach, Fisher's films, though commercially successful, were largely dismissed by critics during his career. It is only in recent years that Fisher has become recognised as an auteur in his own right. His films are characterised by a blend of fairy-tale, myth and sexuality. They may have drawn heavily on Christian themes, and there is usually a hero who defeats the powers of darkness by a combination of faith in God and reason, in contrast to other characters, who are either blindly superstitious or bound by a cold, godless rationalism (as noted by critic Paul Leggett in Terence Fisher: Horror, Myth and Religion, 2001). For a detailed discussion of Fisher's works, see The Charm of Evil: The Films of Terence Fisher by Wheeler Winston Dixon (Metuchen N.J. and London: Scarecrow Press, 1991).
William Baker, a local character, is charged with Grievous Bodily Harm. A wonderful "theatrical" performance by Arthur English as the defendant, perhaps best known as Mr Harman from "Are You Being Served?". Appearing as the prosecuting counsel is Thorley Walters, character actor who appeared in most TV shows at some point, including Worzel Gummidge (as Colonel Bloodstock) as well as in films such as "Murder She Said" with Margaret Rutherford.

Squatters from the university occupied what they thought was an empty holiday home and changed the locks to prevent the owner's re-entry. It was in fact the permanent home of Edward Lumsden, an elderly man. When he returned home to find himself locked-out he called his daughter Vera Chadwick who came to the house to resolve the matter. She took a shotgun along with her. This gun was ultimately fired and one of the squatters - John Worsley - was shot and permanently blinded in one eye. The prosecution assert that Mrs. Chadwick deliberately wounded him but she and her defence team maintain that the shooting was an accident. Quite an emotional episode, this one. Wonderful acting from Ann Mitchell, who plays Vera. Thorley Walters and Ronald Hines star as the prosecuting and defence counsels, w...

A 1970 television trailer for the superb 1969 Hammer horror film, directed by Terence Fisher and starring Peter Cushing, Veronica Carlson, Simon Ward, Freddie Jones, and Thorley Walters.
A rare clip of this wonderful TV comedy which was shown as part of a BBC comedy compilation in the 1980's. It stars Roy Dotrice and Alastair Sim. Only a few episodes are thought to survive and although I do not wish to infringe any copyright, I have uploaded this clip as I hope that it may encourage the BBC to either show these episodes or release them on DVD. Enjoy

The rare and hard to find trailer for 'the Man Who Haunted Himself' Starring Roger Moore, Olga Georges-Picot and HildeGard Neil along with thorley walters. It is loosly based on an Alfred Hitchcock story and is Directed by Basil Dearden, produced by Michael ralph and has a catchy, impossible to find anywhere, soundtrack conducted by Michael J.Lewis. It tells the story of a man called Harold Pelham (moore) who dies on the opperating table breifly after a car crash. He is saved in the operating theater, but his evil double is going round destroying all his bussiness connections that he has. A hugely under-rated film from 1970! Well worth the buy! i would definatly recommend watching it!!!
I don't know what you expected
For me to sit around and beg for you to stay
Can't you see what you've neglected?
I don't know what you've been taking
Do I look like I was born just yesterday?
You're the one who will be breaking after all
Chorus:
‘Cause there will be tears
But they're not gonna be mine
My heart will be clear
And my eyes are staying dry
Because again and again and again
You wish I never got away
I'll just be dancing now
I got a reason to celebrate
Tears
But they're not gonna be, not gonna be mine
You'll be begging for a shoulder
You'll be looking for someone to dry your eyes
But you ain't ever getting over what we had
And you'll be crying like a baby
‘Cause you thought you'd be the one to say goodbye
And I hope it drives you crazy, oh yeah
Repeat Chorus
You don't know what you got
‘Til it goes away, goes away, baby
Anything that you lost
You're the one to blame, one to blame
So save it
Again and again and again
You wish I never got away
I'll just be dancing now
I got a reason to celebrate
There will be tears, oh yeah
But they're not gonna be mine
