Oklahoma i/ˌoʊkləˈhoʊmə/ (Cherokee: Asgaya gigageyi / ᎠᏍᎦᏯ ᎩᎦᎨᏱ; or translated ᎣᎦᎳᎰᎹ (òɡàlàhoma), Pawnee: Uukuhuúwa,Cayuga: Gahnawiyoˀgeh) is a state located in the South Central United States. Oklahoma is the 20th most extensive and the 28th most populous of the 50 United States. The state's name is derived from the Choctaw words okla and humma, meaning "red people". It is also known informally by its nickname, The Sooner State, in reference to the non-Native settlers who staked their claims on the choicest pieces of land prior to the official opening date, and the Indian Appropriations Act of 1889, which opened the door for white settlement in America's Indian Territory. The name was settled upon statehood, Oklahoma Territory and Indian Territory were merged and Indian was dropped from the name. On November 16, 1907, Oklahoma became the 46th state to enter the union. Its residents are known as Oklahomans, or informally "Okies", and its capital and largest city is Oklahoma City.
Here's a glimpse from far away of the May 24, 2011 tornado that ripped through Piedmont, OK. Sorry for my unnecessary comments. lol.
NOT FOR REBROADCAST While chasing with Adam Lucio and Mike Nelson, I filmed our intercept of the El Reno - Piedmont, OK tornado. After filming the Canton, OK tornado earlier in the day, we blasted south in order to intercept this tornado warned storm. Driving through Hennessey, OK just as we entered the core of the storm, tree debris started to fall from the sky miles in front of the actual tornado. We got in front of the storm and drove south in front of it in order to let it pass us by to our north. This was the most intense moment I've ever had storm chasing to date, as a large, rain wrapped tornado was barreling towards us and we could not make out exactly where it was. After letting the tornado pass over the road behind us, we circled back to the damage path and saw homes destroyed ...

This was taken around 8:30 p.m. on May 29, 2012 (Despite me saying 6:30 in the video) facing west at approximately the corner of Hwy 3 & Hwy 4 in Oklahoma City / Piedmont, OK. I was captivated by the crazy rotation, and from what I can tell from reports/news, there was a confirmed tornado within the rain in the middle. It did apparently touch down about 2 miles west from my location (where you can see the rain). Luckily there minimal damage. Reed Timmer, his crew, and several other tornado / storm chasers captured great images of this exact storm from different locations...
