Synopsis : This story happened in the period of 1942-43, the time when the British Empire was breathing its last. It shows the fascist cause as well. Sagina Mahato (Dilip Kumar) is a worker who has always raised his voice against harrassment. He also raises his voice against the British Company Management. Lalita (Saira Banu) also helps him in his mission. Gurum (Om Prakash) who had worked for the last 30 years in the company, was removed from service as he refused to supply girls to the management. One company officer rapes Sagina's friend fiancee. These two incidents make Sagina declare a strike. The Socialist national leader Aniruddha Babu (Marul) and Vishakha (Aparna Sen) also join the movement. Aniruddha Babu appoints Sagina as a 'Welfare Officer' and signs an agreement which contains the demands of the workers. In reality, however, the agreement does not help the workers in improving their day to day problems. There is a loss of power for Aniruddha Babu. Vishakha murders Aniruddha Babu .Then Sagina wearied with charges against him and with the help of Lalita, continues the movement.

Story
A very rare suspense movie, 'Goonj' was released in 1974 and stars Rakesh Roshan and Reena Roy. As the movie begins, two hands approaches a lady from her back and pushes her into a valley and she is killed brutally. But later she appears again in the form of a ghost in white attire. Her mission now is only to find her killer. The film holds the audience to its end. A very surprising climax…even mature and seasoned mystery-movie watchers may not guess the real killer. Goonj (echo) starts with the killing of a woman by a man who thrusts her from a cliff. The victim turns out to be Meena (Reena Roy) who was a painter and married to Rakesh (Rakesh Roshan), a rich businessman and a painter like her. Rakesh's friend Raj Kumar aka Raju (Mahendra Sandhu) arrives at the place (a hilly estate away from the city in which Rakesh has his old-fashioned mansion and he lives there only). Raju is received at the railway station by a stranger (Shetty) who has already arranged a horse for him to reach Rakesh's residence. When Raju reaches there, it is shown that Meena is already there in a spirit like appearance. Thereafter, the story starts in the real sense in flash back with the narrator speaking about the bygone period of the lives of the characters of this story.

Synopsis : This story happened in the period of 1942-43, the time when the British Empire was breathing its last. It shows the fascist cause as well. Sagina Mahato (Dilip Kumar) is a worker who has always raised his voice against harrassment. He also raises his voice against the British Company Management. Lalita (Saira Banu) also helps him in his mission. Gurum (Om Prakash) who had worked for the last 30 years in the company, was removed from service as he refused to supply girls to the management. One company officer rapes Sagina's friend fiancee. These two incidents make Sagina declare a strike. The Socialist national leader Aniruddha Babu (Marul) and Vishakha (Aparna Sen) also join the movement. Aniruddha Babu appoints Sagina as a 'Welfare Officer' and signs an agreement which contains the demands of the workers. In reality, however, the agreement does not help the workers in improving their day to day problems. There is a loss of power for Aniruddha Babu. Vishakha murders Aniruddha Babu .Then Sagina wearied with charges against him and with the help of Lalita, continues the movement.
