Motocross is a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits. The sport evolved from motorcycle trials competitions held in the United Kingdom.
Motocross was first evolved in the U.K. from motorcycle trials competitions, such as the Auto-Cycle Clubs's first quarterly trial in 1906 and the Scottish Six Days Trial that began in 1909. When delicate balancing and strict scoring of trials were dispensed with in favour of a race to be the fastest rider to the finish, it was called scrambles, said to have originated in the phrase, "a rare old scramble" describing one such early race. Originally known as scrambles racing in the United Kingdom, as the sport grew in popularity, the competitions became known internationally as motocross racing, by combining the French word for motorcycle, motocyclette, or moto for short, into a portmanteau with "cross country". The first known scramble race took place at Camberley, Surrey in 1924. During the 1930s, the sport grew in popularity, especially in Britain where teams from the Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA), Norton, Matchless, Rudge, and AJS competed in the events. Off-road bikes from that era differed little from those used on the street. The intense competition over rugged terrain led to technical improvements in motorcycles. Rigid frames gave way to suspensions by the early 1930s, and swinging fork rear suspension appeared by the early 1950s, several years before it was incorporated on the majority of production street bikes. The period after World War II was dominated by BSA which had become the largest motorcycle company in the world. BSA riders dominated international competitions throughout the 1940s.
Ken Roczen (born 29 April 1994 in Mattstedt, Germany) is a German professional motocross and supercross racer. He is 250 class motocross world champion, 250 class west coast supercross champion and 450 class US motocross champion.
Ken Roczen won the Monster Energy Supercross 250 West Championship in 2013 and upgraded to a 450 in 2014 for Red Bull KTM Racing. Ken got a great start by getting a surprise win at Anaheim I by holding off James Stewart Jr. for it. He then won his next race in Atlanta's Georgia Dome. Ken Roczen finished 3rd in the points after Las Vegas. Ken Roczen then had an amazing Lucas Oil Pro MX Series. After losing to Ryan Dungey at Glen Helen, he came right back and won the next overall in Hangtown, going 1-1, stealing the points lead from Dungey, and has had the points lead for the duration of the championship. Ever since RedBull, the championship was down to Roczen and Dungey. But at the Utah National, Roczen clinched the championship. In August shortly after, he signed with RCH Suzuki for 2015.

Not your grandpa's old-fashioned drivelapse (welcome to the 21st century). A drive from Placerville up to South Lake Tahoe (Harrah's) over US Highway 50 on a sunny afternoon in the Fall, non-stop. 62 miles compressed into 6-minute timelapse. With instrumentation: speed, elevation, coordinates, heading, elapsed time, and maps. Another very information-dense piece. Passing through, among other places, Placerville, Pollock Pines, Fresh Pond, Pacific House, White Hall, Kyburz, Strawberry, Twin Bridges, Camp Sacramento, Phillips, Echo Summit, Meyers, South Lake Tahoe, and Stateline. Starting at elevation 1,834 feet in Placerville, up to 7,382 feet at Echo Summit, and back down to 6,293 feet at South Lake Tahoe, CA / Stateline, NV. All video owned by me. Monterey, Point Reyes National Park, San Francisco....Beautiful views all the way. I love the way we travel together.
The home of the Gold Rush, Placerville saw tremendous growth in the mid 1800’s, first as Dry Diggins and more famously as Old Hangtown. At the peak of the Gold Rush, Hangtown was the 3rd largest city in California, and is a registered California Historical Landmark. Placerville offers residents the best in country living, and is known for its natural beauty and multitude of outdoor activities, including whitewater rafting on the American River, camping and boating on nearby Jenkinson Lake, destinations such as Ice House and Union Valley Reservoirs, and off-roading on the world famous Rubicon Trail. Placerville is home to the famous artist Thomas Kinkade, “the Painter of Light,” and many local Victorian houses in town were the subjects of his famous paintings. The area offers a wide vari...

Small drone flight through downtown Main Street. Carey house and then over highway 50 to the cemetery. Liars bench is in there too😉 Enjoy!
Quick drive into Plymouth from the South on Highway 49. Slow drive West on Main Street. There is a drive by view of the Historic School House on Empire Street and also a drive through the Amador Country Fairgrounds during the California High School Rodeo event which was taking place that weekend.
One of the most impressive things in Northern California, aside of the scenic beauty is the great shape the road (highway 101) is maintained in. The road way is clean and the warning lights for sharp corners and other things plus the call boxes, which there are lots of, are all solar powered. Awesome.

Hangtown, sing the final song
It's called the tree from which you hang,
That's done no wrong
Hangtown, the birds have not yet gone
They're waiting around to see that you fly on
The sorry cartboard cowboys
Tried to run you out of town
For trying to turn your dreams into a song
The senate candle cowboys
Tried to run you out of town
They tried to turn your dreams into a song
Hangtown, it's like you're on a bike
With legs that kick and paddle toward the light
Hangtown, you did the best you could
Now forgive them all they know now what they do
Forgive them all for they were once good too
Forgive us all we know now what we do
