The Church of Scotland (Scots: The Scots Kirk, Scottish Gaelic: Eaglais na h-Alba), known informally by its Scots language name, the Kirk, is the established church of Scotland.Protestant and Presbyterian, its longstanding decision to respect "liberty of opinion on matters not affecting the substance of the faith" means it is relatively tolerant of a variety of theological positions, including those who would term themselves conservative and liberal in their doctrine, ethics and interpretation of Scripture. It is legally the national church.
The Church of Scotland traces its roots back to the beginnings of Christianity in Scotland, but its identity is principally shaped by the Reformation of 1560. As of December 2013, its pledged membership is 398,389, or about 7.5% of the total population – though according to the 2011 national census, a significantly higher 32% of the Scottish population claimed some form of allegiance to it (see Religion in Scotland).

NEW EXTENDED VERSION BELOW! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tDcPbCGQcU Watch in 480p for higher sound quality. This track is NOT audio over-driven so do boost the sound, bass, and treble before you vote/comment! I thought it'd be unjust, after remixing Next Generation, to not pay tribute to the original series. Besides a snare and kick drum, this mix is composed entirely of sounds from the Original Series of Star Trek (episodes "City on the Edge of Forever" and "Trouble with Tribbles". The main melody is a sampled pitch manipulation of the opening "chime" to the Original Series episodes. This mix is both PITCH and WARP synced. P.S. Bones wants you to subscribe.

Vacation travel video about destination Edinburgh in Scotland. In the centre of the old town, Edinburgh Castle sits atop the basalt cone of a long-extinct volcano. It is the most visited castle in Scotland and still guarded by soldiers but it is now mainly tourists who storm the defiant rock. Northumbrian king, Edwin, commanded the castle to be built in the seventh century A.D., the "castle on the hill", Edinburgh. The Royal Mile leads from the mighty fortress, downwards, a sloping road from which narrow streets branch off. Just off the upper Royal Mile is the church and cemetery of Greyfriars with its many historical and atmospheric tombs. Its cemetery became well known due to two Irishmen who exhumed newly-buried corpses in 1827 in order to sell them to the local anatomical institute. The...
Whoever travels to Scotland, meets a beautiful and rich country, rich in beauty and history. The majestic castles greet the visitor in every corner of the country. Witnesses of time ago which remind one rather of plays and dramas, such as Shakespeare or Macbeth which are the most famous example of it. Some parts of Scotland rank among the most thinly settled areas of Europe and offer the possibility of experiencing nearly undisturbed landscapes. Whether lonely lighthouses or postcard picture church ruins, Scotland should be traveled in peace and with time, in order to absorb the un-comparable impressions, of nature and architect, it has to offer.

Vacation travel video about destination Nuremberg in Germany. Nuremberg, the ‘secret capital’ of German Franconia.and ‘treasure trove of the German Reich’. The epitome of German romanticism and tradition with a long history, but also bitter memories of quite recent times. Of the original one hundred and thirty towers of the city wall, only seventy one have survived. The city fortifications from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries emerged after the union of the previous two halves of the city. The twin-towered St. Lorenz Church is the largest and artistically most important religious building in the city and dates back to 1260. The interior is of Gothic splendour and the nave extends at the altar to a light-filled, three-aisled hall with huge columns and an almost playful, overlapping...
Welcome to this special edition of The Pace Report reporting from this year's 37th annual Detroit Jazz Festival. Detroit native and jazz icon Kirk Lightsey returned home for this year's DJF performing with the legendary Louis Hayes and Robert Hurst in a homecoming series on the mainstage. Mr. Lightsey began his musical career in Detroit starting off playing the clarinet then switched playing piano studying under Johnson Flanagan, pianist Tommy Flanagan's older brother. Kirk attended Cass Technical High School where he was classmates with other up and coming jazz notables Paul Chambers and Hugh Lawson. While there, Kirk was a member of the Cass Tech Orchestra which featured bassist Ron Carter and Kiane Zawadi. During his teens he had the chance to play and study music with other great De...

Situated on the banks of the River Ayr, the Auld Kirk of Ayr dates back to the 17th century. The Auld Kirk was built on land that previously stood the 12th century Church of St John which had been seized by Cromwell. The present church was built between 1662 - 1655, with many areas of interest in and around the Kirk, such as the beautiful stained glass windows that adorn the building. Inside the Church is the pew where Robert Burns' father, William Burness, is believed to have sat each Sunday and where possibly the young Robert formed his first impressions of the Kirk. It is also believed that the great Bard was baptized in the Kirk. There is a lych-gate, erected in 1656, which is an unusual feature in a Scottish church. Hanging on each side of the archway you will see a mortsafe, used t...

Say, have you seen the carioca?
It's not a foxtrot or a polka
It has a little bit of new rhythm
A blue rhtthm that sights
It has a meter that is tricky
A bit of wicked wacky-wicky
But when you dance it with a new love
There's a true love in her eyes
You dream of a new Carioca
It's theme is a kiss and a sight
You dream of a new carioca
When music and lights are gone and we're saying goodbye
Two heads together, they say are better than one
Two heads together, that's how the dance's begun
Two arms around you and lips that sigh
I'm yours anda you're mine
While the carioca carries you away
While we carica till the break of day
Now that you've done the carioca
You'll never care to do the polka
And then you'll realize the blue hula anda bamboola are
through
Tomorrow morning you"ll discover
You're just a carioca lover
And when you dance it with a new love
There'll be true love just for you
You'll dream of a new carioca
Its theme is a kiss and a sigh
You'll dream of a new carioca
When music and lights are gone and we're saying goodbye
When music lights are gone and we're saying goodbye
