The Sega Game Gear (ゲームギア, Gēmu Gia) is an 8-bit handheld game console released by Sega on October 6, 1990 in Japan, 1991 in North America and Europe, and Australia in 1992. The Game Gear primarily competed with Nintendo's Game Boy, the Atari Lynx and NEC's TurboExpress. The handheld shares much of its hardware with the Sega Master System and is able to play its own titles as well as those of the Master System, the latter being made possible by the use of an adapter. Containing a full-color backlit screen with a landscape format, Sega positioned the Game Gear as a technologically superior handheld to the Game Boy.
Though the Game Gear was rushed to market, its unique game library and price point gave it an edge over the Atari Lynx and TurboExpress. However, due to issues with its short battery life, lack of original titles, and weak support from Sega, the Game Gear was unable to surpass the Game Boy, selling 10.62 million units by March 1996. The Game Gear was succeeded by the Sega Nomad in 1995 and discontinued in 1997. It was re-released as a budget system by Majesco in 2000, under license by Sega.
A game is structured form of play, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes used as an educational tool. Games are distinct from work, which is usually carried out for remuneration, and from art, which is more often an expression of aesthetic or ideological elements. However, the distinction is not clear-cut, and many games are also considered to be work (such as professional players of spectator sports or games) or art (such as jigsaw puzzles or games involving an artistic layout such as Mahjong, solitaire, or some video games).
Key components of games are goals, rules, challenge, and interaction. Games generally involve mental or physical stimulation, and often both. Many games help develop practical skills, serve as a form of exercise, or otherwise perform an educational, simulational, or psychological role.
Attested as early as 2600 BC, games are a universal part of human experience and present in all cultures. The Royal Game of Ur, Senet, and Mancala are some of the oldest known games.
Neo Geo (Japanese: ネオジオ, Hepburn: Neo Jio), stylised as NEO・GEO, also written as NEOGEO, is a family of video game hardware developed by SNK. On the market from 1990 to 2004, the brand originated with the release of an arcade system, the Neo Geo MVS and its home console counterpart, the Neo Geo AES. Both the arcade system and console were powerful for the time and the AES allows for perfect compatibility of games released for the MVS. However, the high price point for both the AES console and its games prevented it from directly competing with its contemporaries, the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) and Super NES (Super Famicom). However the MVS arcade became very successful in stores in Japan and North America.
Years later, SNK would release the Neo Geo CD, a more cost effective console with games released on compact discs. The console was met with limited success, due in part to its slow CD-ROM drive. In an attempt to compete with increasingly popular 3D games, SNK released the Hyper Neo Geo 64 arcade system in 1997 as the successor to its aging MVS. The system did not fare well and only a few games were released for it. A planned home console based on the hardware was never released. SNK later extended the brand by releasing two handheld consoles, the Neo Geo Pocket, and later Neo Geo Pocket Color, which briefly competed with Nintendo's Game Boy. The latter has been well praised, despite its short lifespan. Soon after their release, SNK encountered various legal and financial issues - however the original Neo Geo MVS and AES continued getting new games under new ownership until officially being discontinued in 2004, ending the brand.
A gear or cogwheel is a rotating machine part having cut teeth, or cogs, which mesh with another toothed part to transmit torque, in most cases with teeth on the one gear being of identical shape, and often also with that shape on the other gear. Two or more gears working in a sequence (train) are called a gear train or, in many cases, a transmission; such gear arrangements can produce a mechanical advantage through a gear ratio and thus may be considered a simple machine. Geared devices can change the speed, torque, and direction of a power source. The most common situation is for a gear to mesh with another gear; however, a gear can also mesh with a linear toothed part, called a rack, thereby producing translation instead of rotation.
The gears in a transmission are analogous to the wheels in a crossed belt pulley system. An advantage of gears is that the teeth of a gear prevent slippage.
When two gears mesh, and one gear is bigger than the other (even though the size of the teeth must match), a mechanical advantage is produced, with the rotational speeds and the torques of the two gears differing in an inverse relationship.
Mortal Kombat is a video game franchise originally developed by Midway Games' Chicago studio in 1992. Following Midway's bankruptcy, the Mortal Kombat development team was acquired by Warner Bros. and turned into NetherRealm Studios. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment currently owns the rights of the franchise and rebooted it in 2011.
The development of the first game was originally based on an idea that Ed Boon and John Tobias had of making a video game starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, but as that idea fell through, a fantasy-themed fighting game titled Mortal Kombat was created instead. The original game has spawned many sequels and has been spun off into several action-adventure games, films (animated and live-action with its own sequel), and television series (animated and live-action). Other spin-offs include comic book series, a card game and a live-action tour. Along with Capcom's Street Fighter and Bandai Namco's Tekken, Mortal Kombat has become one of the most successful fighting franchises in the history of video games.

Classic Game Room HD reviews the SEGA GAME GEAR which was originally released in North America in the year 1990! Handheld gaming has never been less portable but more exciting. The Sega Game Gear eats six AA batteries in two hours but delivers Sega quality video games on a full color screen. Take that black and white Nintendo Game Boy! Color! Even if you need to plug it in to play games lasting more than 2 hours... The Game Gear may show its age with a dim LCD screen and washed out colors, common with older handhelds these days. But an awesome library of collectable games await you for an affordable price. Perhaps you just want to rebuild your collection and relive your youth? Were you playing Game Gear in the hallway while making smart-assed comments as kids with their sad black and white...

(Episode 3) In this episode we'll be seeing how did the SNES changed the gaming industry a year after it's release with the rise of multiplatform games, consoles loosing popularity over-shadowed by Sega & Nintendo, Computer game innovations, multiplayer revolutions, and Nintendo's rivalry with Sega and Sony. Please keep in mind that I realize my mistake saying NES when I meant to say SNES, but I' just posted it anyway because I can't waste any more time with the editing when the video is nearly 40 minutes. VGM is an audio logging format for Sega's Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive/Genesis and SG-1000 Mark III. It accurately reproduces the music from these game consoles because it contains the actual register data sent to the audio chips. The purpose of this project was to have a portable walkman like device so I can listen to real (non-emulated) video game music on the subway. Regarding Nintendo Wii & Games The games are part of custom Nintendo Wii Systems that I build. They cannot be physically separated from the system. Here is a video which demonstrates how easy it is to run the games. Here's a photo of the system: http://img240.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=53298_2_122_471lo.jpg As well, you can give the system a test run at my residence in Pembroke to ensure you are satisfied with your purchase. The cost is $350 for 200 games and the system, unless you have an a Wii system to trade in, which I can use for spare parts. In that case I can lower the price to $275.
