The Clink was a notorious prison in Southwark, England which functioned from the 12th century until 1780 either deriving its name from, or bestowing it on, the local manor, the Clink Liberty (see also the Liberty of the Clink). The manor and prison were owned by the Bishop of Winchester and situated next to his residence at Winchester Palace. The Clink was possibly the oldest men's prison and probably the oldest women's prison in England.
The origins of the name "The Clink" are uncertain, but it is possibly onomatopoeic and derives from the sound of striking metal as the prison's doors were bolted, or the rattling of the chains the prisoners wore.
The name has become slang as a generic term for prison or a jail cell.
There has been a prison owned by the Bishop of Winchester in one form or another since the year 860, although at that time it would only have been one cell in a priests' college. By 1076 an archbishop had listed the types of punishment allowed, scourging with rods, solitary confinement, and bread and water in silence.
The Pink Panther is a series of comedy films featuring an inept French police detective, Inspector Jacques Clouseau. The series began with the release of The Pink Panther (1963). The role of Clouseau was originated by, and is most closely associated with, Peter Sellers. Most of the films were directed and co-written by Blake Edwards, with theme music composed by Henry Mancini.
In the films, the Pink Panther is a large and valuable pink diamond which is first shown in the opening film in the series. The diamond is called the "Pink Panther," because the flaw at its center, when viewed closely, is said to resemble a leaping pink panther. The phrase reappears in the title of the fourth film The Return of the Pink Panther, in which the theft of the diamond is again the center of the plot. The phrase was used for all the subsequent films in the series, even when the jewel did not figure in the plot. It ultimately appeared in six of the eleven films.
The first film in the series had an animated opening sequence, created by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises and set to the theme music by Mancini, which featured the Pink Panther character. This character, designed by Hawley Pratt and Friz Freleng, was subsequently the subject of its own series of animated cartoons which gained its highest profile when aired on Saturday mornings as The Pink Panther Show. The character would be featured in the opening of every film in the movie series except A Shot in the Dark and Inspector Clouseau.
The archetypal action hero is the protagonist of an action movie or other entertainment which portrays action and adventure. Other media in which such heroes appear include swashbuckler films, Westerns on television, old-time radio, adventure novels, dime novels, pulp magazines, and folklore.
Last Action Hero is a 1993 American comic fantasy-action film directed and produced by John McTiernan. It is a satire of the action genre and associated clichés, containing several parodies of action films in the form of films within the film.
The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Jack Slater, a fictional Los Angeles police detective. Slater is a fictional character even within the film, the hero of the Jack Slater series of action films. Austin O'Brien co-stars as a boy who is magically transported into a parallel universe by a magical movie ticket, one inhabited by Slater and the other characters in the Slater film series. Schwarzenegger also served as the film's executive producer and plays himself as the actor portraying Jack Slater, and Charles Dance plays an assassin who escapes from the Slater world into the real world. Last Action Hero was a box office disappointment during its initial theatrical release. The film also features Art Carney's last appearance in a motion picture.
Museums have been created from many former jails and prisons.
Some old jails converted into museums are listed under the original name of the jail, especially if listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. For example, see Old St. Johns County Jail in St Augustine, Florida.
Museums with a main purpose not associated with the jail or prison in which they are located are listed separately, below the main list.

Following the phenomenal success of the charity's first restaurant, The Clink Restaurant at HMP High Down, The Clink Cymru at HMP Cardiff opened to the public in September 2012. 28 category D prisoners from HMP Prescoed and HMP Cardiff work a 40-hour week within the 96 cover restaurant, where the service is second to none and the food served offers a contemporary twist on traditional British dishes. As well as working a full week, prisoners train towards gaining nationally recognised qualifications before returning to their cells in the evening. Situated outside the prison walls, the restaurant is a flagship example of a unique, charitable project that is committed to reducing reoffending rates in Wales with the support of the general public. In this inspirational and very moving talk, Al Crisci MBE asks us to open our hearts and minds when it comes prisoner rehabilitation. Having witnessed the lack of support and opportunities available to ex-offenders when they leave jail, Al founded The Clink Charity - a trail-blazing initiative giving prisoners a chance to gain professional qualifications and contacts in catering and hospitality while in prison. In his passionate talk about why second chances are so important, he take us on his journey to get the Clink off the ground, the tears and the tear-aways, and the experiences he’s had helping people who’d been ‘written off’ find their passion in food. This talk is from TEDxBristol 2015 Great Expectations: looking towards a future we can dare to expect more from: tedxbristo...

He has a wooden barrel on his head for protection. The barrel is missing a small piece in the middle. You must shoot through it with your crossbow to hit Golyat's eye. I'm one man to make a difference
I'm one soul all persistence
In a dark word, just trying to make things right
Choices we weren't given
Any heroes, and our decision
Is to stand up and fight for ourselves
[Chorus:]
To be free
Is all we want to be
When everything seems so far out of reach
But I know, no matter where we go
I'll never stop believing in me
Woke up bent and broken
Just to find that fate has spoken
And I call out, I call out for change
For every moment that remains
For every sinking stone to find its place
Long before they're washed away
[Chorus]
We've been giving in to wrong
We've been waiting for too long
And we've been broken to pieces one by one
We're gonna know
We're gonna know
When the moment comes
[Chorus]
