Falun Gong is an ancient Chinese spiritual discipline in the Buddhist tradition. Pronounced "Fah-loon Gong," it consists of moral teachings, a meditation, and four gentle exercises that are a truly unique and highly effective way to improve your health and energy levels.
At the core of Falun Gong are the values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance (or in Chinese, Zhen 真 Shan 善 Ren 忍). Falun Dafa teaches that these are the most fundamental qualities of the universe, and takes them to be a guide for daily life and practice.
In the words of Falun Gong's founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, "assimilation to the highest qualities of the universe—Zhen 真 Shan 善 Ren 忍 —is the foundation of practice. Practice is guided by these supreme qualities, and based on the very laws which underlie the development of the cosmos."
Falun Gong is also commonly known as "Falun Dafa."
By 1999, Falun Gong had grown to become the largest and fastest growing practice of the sort in Chinese if not world history. In just seven years since its 1992 introduction to the public, an estimated 100 million people were practicing Falun Gong.

WHY IS FALUN GONG PERSECUTED IN CHINA?
During the 1990s, Falun Gong was widely recognized as uplifting public health and morality through its teachings of truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. So why did the Chinese Communist Party launch a campaign to eradicate it, sending hundreds of thousands of law-abiding citizens into labor camps to face torture and death?
POPULARITY AND INDEPENDENCE
In 1998, a Chinese government survey showed that there were more people practicing Falun Gong than there were members of the Chinese Communist
Party. With 70 to 100 million practitioners, Falun Gong was arguably the largest independent group in the history of the People’s Republic of China.
The Communist Party seeks to control all volunteer organizations, religions, media, and educational institutions in China. It suppresses those that don’t submit to its control, including Falun Gong.
A DICTATOR’S PERSONAL JEALOUSY
The decision to persecute Falun Gong was made almost unilaterally by Communist Party chairman Jiang Zemin. Other members of the leadership favored a more conciliatory approach, recognizing that Falun Gong was peaceful and did not have a political agenda.
Jiang Zemin’s opposition towards Falun Gong was deeply personal, stemming from his jealousy over the practice’s popularity. He also reportedly believed that by launching a Cultural Revolution-style campaign against Falun Gong, he could consolidate his power.
INCOMPATIBILITY WITH MARXIST IDEALS
In spite of China’s turning to a market-economy in recent decades, the atheist Communist Party still clings to Marxist ideology. Some Party leaders saw Falun Gong, with its belief in the existence of Buddhas, Daos, and Gods, and its conviction that anyone can reach a divine realm through self-refinement, as challenging the ideology that the Party is the highest authority.
COMMUNIST PARTY’S HISTORY OF PERSECUTION
Throughout its more than 60 years in power, the Communist Party has repeatedly launched political campaigns that suppress freedom of thought and force Chinese people to declare their allegiance to the Party. In 1999, Falun Gong became its latest target. Torture survivor Zhao Ming explained it as: “The Party’s machinery of persecution was there—Jiang pushed the button.”

Sadly, there is a dark side to this interview.
As of 1999, hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been incarcerated in labour camps. There, they face long, brutal hours of coerced labour -- manufacturing "stuff" for the West's consumer addictions -- as well as torture and murder. The healthy ones, who have been deemed to possess the right blood type, are put on a 'donor list' whereby their organs are forcibly harvested -- many while they are still alive -- to feed a multi-million dollar organ transplant industry.

The knowledge of Jiang Zemin is (brain) dead hopefully he will get punished before they put him in a nursing home (or prison). I believe he is the primary cause against Falun Dafa and the internet wall in China.

Falun Gong or Falun Dafa (literally means "Dharma Wheel Practice") is a spiritual discipline first introduced in China in 1992 through public lectures by its founder, Li Hongzhi. It combines the practice of meditation and slow-moving qigong exercises with a moral philosophy. Falun Gong emphasises morality and the cultivation of virtue in its central tenets of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance (Chinese: 真、善、忍), and identifies as a qigong practice of the Buddhist school, though its teachings also incorporate elements drawn from Taoist traditions. Through moral rectitude and the practice of meditation, practitioners of Falun Gong aspire to better health and, ultimately, spiritual enlightenment.
Falun Gong emerged at the end of China's "qigong boom", a period which saw the proliferation of similar practices of meditation, slow-moving exercises and regulated breathing. It differs from other qigong schools in its absence of fees or formal membership, lack of daily rituals of worship, its greater emphasis on morality, and the theological nature of its teachings. Western academics have described Falun Gong as a qigong discipline, a "spiritual movement" based on the teachings of its founder, a "cultivation system" in the tradition of Chinese antiquity, and sometimes a religion or new religious movement.

Falun (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈfɑːˈlɵnː]) is a city and the seat of Falun Municipality in Dalarna County, Sweden, with 37,291 inhabitants in 2010. It is also the capital of Dalarna County. Falun forms, together with Borlänge, a metropolitan area with close to 100,000 inhabitants.
Falun was originally famous for its copper mine, and is today an important service and industrial city even though the mine is closed (since 1992).
The town of Falun is known to have existed in the 14th century as a market place for the surrounding lands. Mining for copper had been a local business since the mid-13th century, or possibly as early as 1000, and the organisation for the extracting of copper and gold from the Great Copper Mountain is believed to be the oldest still-existing enterprise in the world, proved active since 1347, when its charter was granted by King Magnus IV of Sweden. The first share in the company is dated as early as 1288.
However, an enterprise at that time was nothing more than a cooperation among the owners, each contributing with a share of money for constructions, tools, etc., necessary to run the organisation. Depending on their contribution they could use the facilities and share the profit according to the relative share they contributed.

During the 1990s, Falun Gong was widely recognized as uplifting public health and morality through its teachings of truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. So why did the Chinese Communist Party launch a campaign to eradicate it, sending hundreds of thousands of law-abiding citizens into labor camps to face torture and death?
POPULARITY AND INDEPENDENCE
In 1998, a Chinese government survey showed that there were more people practicing Falun Gong than there were members of the Chinese Communist
Party. With 70 to 100 million practitioners, Falun Gong was arguably the largest independent group in the history of the People’s Republic of China.
