"PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA endorsed an expansion of Social Security for the first time on Wednesday.
“We can’t afford to weaken Social Security,” he said during a speech on economic policy in Elkhart, Indiana. “We should be strengthening Social Security. And not only do we need to strengthen its long-term health, it’s time we finally made Social Security more generous, and increased its benefits so that today’s retirees and future generations get the dignified retirement that they’ve earned.”
The increased benefits, he said, could be paid for “by asking the wealthiest Americans to contribute a little bit more. They can afford it. I can afford it.”
This was a far cry from Obama’s position on the program in late 2012, when his administration argued for reducing Social Security benefits by recalculating the way cost of living adjustments are made.”*

Bernie Sanders is a Democratic candidate for President of the United States. He is serving his second term in the U.S. Senate after winning re-election in 2012 with 71 percent of the vote. Sanders previously served as mayor of Vermont’s largest city for eight years before defeating an incumbent Republican to be the sole congressperson for the state in the U.S. House of Representatives. He lives in Burlington, Vermont with his wife Jane and has four children and seven grandchildren.
Bernard “Bernie” Sanders was born in Brooklyn, New York, to immigrant parents and grew up in a small, rent-controlled apartment. His father came to the United States from Poland at the age of 17 without much money or a formal education. While attending the University of Chicago, a 20-year-old Sanders led students in a multi-week sit-in to oppose segregation in off-campus housing owned by the university as a Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) officer. In August of 1963, Sanders took an overnight bus as an organizer for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee to hear Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech firsthand at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
After graduation, Bernie moved to Vermont where he worked as a carpenter and documentary filmmaker. In 1981, he was elected as mayor of Burlington as an Independent by a mere 10 votes, shocking the city’s political establishment by defeating a six-term, local machine mayor. In 1983, Bernie was re-elected by a 21 point margin with a record amount of voter turnout. Under his administration, the city made major strides in affordable housing, progressive taxation, environmental protection, child care, women’s rights, youth programs and the arts. In 1990, Sanders was elected to the House of Representatives as the first Independent in 40 years and joined the Democratic caucus. He was re-elected for eight terms, during which he voted against the deregulation of Wall Street, the Patriot Act, and the invasion of Iraq.
In 2006, Sanders defeated the richest man in Vermont to win a seat in the U.S. Senate as an Independent. Known as a “practical and successful legislator,” Sanders served as chairman of the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs where he authored and passed the most significant veteran health care reform bill in recent history. While in the Senate, Sanders has fought tirelessly for working class Americans against the influence of big money in politics. In 2010, he gave an eight-and-a-half hour filibuster-like speech on the Senate floor in opposition to extending Bush-era tax breaks for the wealthy. In 2015, the Democratic leadership tapped Bernie to serve as the caucus’ ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee.
Known for his consistency on the issues, Senator Sanders has supported the working class, women, communities of color, and the LGBT community throughout his career. He is an advocate for the environment, unions, and immigrants. He voted against Keystone XL, opposes the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal, wants to expand the Voting Rights Act, and pass the Equal Rights Amendment.

Think about these facts as you ponder on the best date for you and your family. Social Security is the major source of income for most of the elderly.
As of April 2014, Social Security Benefits represent about 38% of income for the elderly.
Nine out of Ten individuals age 65 and older receive Social Security Benefits today.
Among elderly Social Security beneficiaries, 52% of married couples and 74% of unmarried persons receive 50% or more of their income from Social Security.
And up to 22% of married couples and about 47% of unmarried persons rely on Social Security for 90% or more of their income.
51% of workers today have no private pension coverage.
34% of workers have no savings set aside specifically for retirement.
In 2014, over 59 million Americans received almost $863 billion in Social Security benefits.
Let’s look at some factors to consider when filing for your Social Security Benefits.
The first factor we will look at is your full retirement age. So, when is your full retirement age? This chart shows you when your full retirement age is. So, if you were born in 1957 your full retirement age is 66 years and six months.
If your full retirement age is 66, and if you were to file for Social Security Benefits at age 62, you would only receive approximately 75% of your full benefits. At age 66, you would receive 100% of your benefits. But, by waiting till age 70, you would receive 132% of your benefits. There is a huge difference in waiting, but again, each of us have certain circumstances that may force us to file as early as age 62. This is a substantial amount of money that most of us leave on the table.

Barack Hussein Obama II (

He won election to the U.S. Senate in Illinois in November 2004. His presidential campaign began in February 2007, and after a close campaign in the 2008 Democratic Party presidential primaries against Hillary Rodham Clinton, he won his party's nomination. In the 2008 presidential election, he defeated Republican nominee John McCain, and was inaugurated as president on January 20, 2009. In 1981, he was elected as mayor of Burlington as an Independent by a mere 10 votes, shocking the city’s political establishment by defeating a six-term, local machine mayor. In 1983, Bernie was re-elected by a 21 point margin with a record amount of voter turnout. Under his administration, the city made major strides in affordable housing, progressive taxation, environmental protection, child care, women’s rights, youth programs and the arts. In 1990, Sanders was elected to the House of Representatives as the first Independent in 40 years and joined the Democratic caucus. He was re-elected for eight terms, during which he voted against the deregulation of Wall Street, the Patriot Act, and the invasion of Iraq. In 2006, Sanders defeated the richest man in Vermont to win a seat in the U.S. Senate as an Independent. Known as a “practical and successful legislator,” Sanders served as chairman of the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs where he authored and passed the most significant veteran health care reform bill in recent history. While in the Senate, Sanders has fought tirelessly for working class Americans against the influence of big money in politics. In 2010, he gave an eight-and-a-half hour filibuster-like speech on the Senate floor in opposition to extending Bush-era tax breaks for the wealthy. In 2015, the Democratic leadership tapped Bernie to serve as the caucus’ ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee. Known for his consistency on the issues, Senator Sanders has supported the working class, women, communities of color, and the LGBT community throughout his career. In 1981, he was elected as mayor of Burlington as an Independent by a mere 10 votes, shocking the city’s political establishment by defeating a six-term, local machine mayor. In 1983, Bernie was re-elected by a 21 point margin with a record amount of voter turnout. Under his administration, the city made major strides in affordable housing, progressive taxation, environmental protection, child care, women’s rights, youth programs and the arts. In 1990, Sanders was elected to the House of Representatives as the first Independent in 40 years and joined the Democratic caucus. He was re-elected for eight terms, during which he voted against the deregulation of Wall Street, the Patriot Act, and the invasion of Iraq.
In 2006, Sanders defeated the richest man in Vermont to win a seat in the U.S. Senate as an Independent. Known as a “practical and successful legislator,” Sanders served as chairman of the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs where he authored and passed the most significant veteran health care reform bill in recent history. While in the Senate, Sanders has fought tirelessly for working class Americans against the influence of big money in politics. In 2010, he gave an eight-and-a-half hour filibuster-like speech on the Senate floor in opposition to extending Bush-era tax breaks for the wealthy. In 2015, the Democratic leadership tapped Bernie to serve as the caucus’ ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee.
Known for his consistency on the issues, Senator Sanders has supported the working class, women, communities of color, and the LGBT community throughout his career. He is an advocate for the environment, unions, and immigrants. He voted against Keystone XL, opposes the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal, wants to expand the Voting Rights Act, and pass the Equal Rights Amendment.

While the majority of us begin receiving at 62, many have decided to defer taking benefits until a later age. Why? There are several reasons why, but the main reason is the longer we wait, the larger your Social Security checks will be when you begin receiving them.
So, what is your target date to file for Social Security benefits? Write this down, and see if the date changes by the time we get through this short video.
So, when is the correct time to file for your benefits?
The answer… It depends on your individual or family circumstances. Deciding the best time may be confusing to some, but the decision should be based on your specific situation and financial needs. Let’s take a look at some of the facts to consider when filing for your Social Security Benefits.
Think about these facts as you ponder on the best date for you and your family. Social Security is the major source of income for most of the elderly.
As of April 2014, Social Security Benefits represent about 38% of income for the elderly.
Nine out of Ten individuals age 65 and older receive Social Security Benefits today.
Among elderly Social Security beneficiaries, 52% of married couples and 74% of unmarried persons receive 50% or more of their income from Social Security.
And up to 22% of married couples and about 47% of unmarried persons rely on Social Security for 90% or more of their income.
51% of workers today have no private pension coverage.
34% of workers have no savings set aside specifically for retirement.
In 2014, over 59 million Americans received almost $863 billion in Social Security benefits.
Let’s look at some factors to consider when filing for your Social Security Benefits.
The first factor we will look at is your full retirement age. So, when is your full retirement age? This chart shows you when your full retirement age is. So, if you were born in 1957 your full retirement age is 66 years and six months.
If your full retirement age is 66, and if you were to file for Social Security Benefits at age 62, you would only receive approximately 75% of your full benefits. At age 66, you would receive 100% of your benefits. But, by waiting till age 70, you would receive 132% of your benefits. There is a huge difference in waiting, but again, each of us have certain circumstances that may force us to file as early as age 62. This is a substantial amount of money that most of us leave on the table.

Think about these facts as you ponder on the best date for you and your family. Social Security is the major source of income for most of the elderly.
As of April 2014, Social Security Benefits represent about 38% of income for the elderly.
Nine out of Ten individuals age 65 and older receive Social Security Benefits today.
Among elderly Social Security beneficiaries, 52% of married couples and 74% of unmarried persons receive 50% or more of their income from Social Security.
And up to 22% of married couples and about 47% of unmarried persons rely on Social Security for 90% or more of their income.
51% of workers today have no private pension coverage.
34% of workers have no savings set aside specifically for retirement.
In 2014, over 59 million Americans received almost $863 billion in Social Security benefits.
Let’s look at some factors to consider when filing for your Social Security Benefits.
The first factor we will look at is your full retirement age. So, when is your full retirement age? This chart shows you when your full retirement age is. So, if you were born in 1957 your full retirement age is 66 years and six months.
If your full retirement age is 66, and if you were to file for Social Security Benefits at age 62, you would only receive approximately 75% of your full benefits. At age 66, you would receive 100% of your benefits. But, by waiting till age 70, you would receive 132% of your benefits. There is a huge difference in waiting, but again, each of us have certain circumstances that may force us to file as early as age 62. This is a substantial amount of money that most of us leave on the table.

Should I retire now at age 62 and collect Social Security benefits, or should I wait until full retirement age? Answer: There's no right time to begin collecting Social Security benefits, but the age at which you begin receiving benefits will affect how much retirement income you have, so you should weigh the consequences carefully. Should I retire now at age 62 and collect Social Security benefits, or should I wait until full retirement age?
Answer:
There's no right time to begin collecting Social Security benefits, but the age at which you begin receiving benefits will affect how much retirement income you have, so you should weigh the consequences carefully.
Keep in mind that if you collect Social Security before your full retirement age, your benefit will be permanently reduced. Depending on the year you were born, you'll receive between 25 and 30 percent less per month if you collect benefits at age 62 than if you wait until full retirement age to begin collecting benefits. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that collecting benefits at age 62 is unwise. In fact, unless you live to an especially old age, you may actually end up with more money if you start collecting Social Security benefits at age 62 than if you wait until full retirement age, because you'll receive more benefit checks.
However, there are also good reasons to wait until full retirement age (or beyond) to start collecting benefits. Kenneth Starr has stepped down as Chancellor of Baylor after news has broken that the University has covered up many cases of sexual abuse and assault. Ana sees the hypocrisy of Starr’s history with going after Bill Clinton and his connection to covering up sexual assault for his University’s purposes. The state of Texas is mad at the national weather service for calling a sand storm as a “haboob”. Gordon Thirring has won a legal battle against the state of Mississippi to eat her own placenta after her pregnancy.
