Tom Hiddleston

From supervillain Loki to superspy James Bond? That may be the move Tom Hiddleston is taking. Birth.Movies.Death is citing a source close to the actor who says he is officially “in advanced talks” to take over the role most recently played by Daniel Craig.

It’s important to note that while discussions regarding Hiddleston taking the role are ongoing, there had been no offer made by Eon Productions — the company behind the Bond films — just yet. That’s an interesting note to make, given that Craig has yet to officially announce his retirement from the franchise.

So is Hiddleston ready to make the jump to playing 007? The jury is still out, but it certainly seems like he’s interested in playing the world-renowned spy.

There were also be a fun bit of poetry in his taking on the role. As Birth.Movies.Death notes, the actor previously attended Eton College. That was the alma mater of not only Bond creator Ian Fleming, but the fictional spy himself. Enlisting a new star with the same background as the character and creator certainly would be a fun nod to the franchise’s history.
