videos
OneWire (
http://www.onewire.com/videos) interviews
Eduardo Mestre,
Senior Managing Director of Evercore, in the latest installment to the
Open Door video series with Skiddy von
Stade.
"
At the end of the day, clients still need
Wall Street, certainly in terms of raising capital—that's a classical
function—and also in terms of advice
...the fundamentals are still there, but I think the industry is certainly in transition
..and it may be in that state for a while as we get the complete fallout from what was a very difficult time for the industry."
Born in
Cuba, Eduardo Mestre immigrated to the
United States at age 11 to attend boarding school. After graduating from
Yale and earning a JD from
Harvard Law School, Eduardo practiced law at
Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. From there, he was recruited by
Salomon Brothers, a client at the time, where he joined the
Corporate Finance team for
Latin America. Eduardo eventually rose to become the co-head of mergers and acquisitions at
Salomon Smith Barney and then the head of investment banking, where he headed up integration efforts that led to the establishment of Citigroup. Subsequently, he served as Chairman of Citigroup's global investment bank. In 2004, Eduardo joined Evercore, a leading investment banking advisory firm. He currently serves as Senior Managing Director and Chairman of
Global Advisory. Eduardo also serves on the boards of
Avis Budget Group and
Comcast.
