Annual Golden Globe Awards have been announced and we’ve got the details for you right now on Clevver’s
Trophy Life!
Fans of
Mad Max: Fury Road will have something to root for at this year’s
Golden Globes.
It’s being named the best movie of the year by many already and now it can add
Golden Globe Award nominee to its list of accomplishments. Mad Max: Fury Road was among the films nominated this morning including one for director
George Miller and for the biggest prize of the night,
Best Motion Picture –
Drama.
Miller will be competing against the likes of
Todd Haynes for
Carol,
Alejandro G. Inarritu for
The Revenant,
Tom McCarthy for
Spotlight and
Ridley Scott for
The Martian while the film will have to contend against Carol, The Revenant,
Room and Spotlight for the Best Picture Drama trophy. While it was a huge day for
Mad Max, the big winner so far is Carol, which leads with 5 nominations including two in the
Best Actress Drama category for stars
Cate Blanchett and
Rooney Mara. They will compete against
Brie Larson for her role as a kidnapped mother in Room,
Saoirse Ronan for
Brooklyn and
Alicia Vikander for
The Danish Girl. Alicia Vikander was also nominated in the Supporting
Actress category for
Ex Machina along with
Jane Fonda for
Youth,
Jennifer Jason Leigh for
The Hateful Eight,
Helen Mirren for
Trumbo and
Kate Winslet for
Steve Jobs.
Best Supporting Actor noms went to
Paul Dano for
Love & Mercy,
Idris Elba for
Beasts of No Nation,
Mark Rylance for
Bridge of Spies,
Michael Shannon for
99 Homes and
Sylvester Stallone earned his 2nd
Golden Globe nomination for
Creed. The last time he was nominated was back in
1977 for writing the screenplay for the first
Rocky. As for the
Best Actor Drama category,
Bryan Cranston was nominated for Trumbo as was
Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant,
Michael Fassbender for Steve Jobs,
Will Smith for
Concussion and last year’s winner,
Eddie Redmayne, was nominated again this year for The Danish Girl. As for the nominees in the
Musical or
Comedy category, Best Picture noms went to
The Big Short, Joy, The Martian, Spy and
Trainwreck. Best Actress Musical or Comedy nominations went to
Jennifer Lawrence for Joy,
Melissa McCarthy for Spy,
Amy Schumer for Trainwreck,
Maggie Smith for
The Lady in the Van and
Lily Tomlin in
Grandma while Best Actor Musical or Comedy nominees included
Christian Bale and
Steve Carell for The Big Short,
Matt Damon for The Martian,
Al Pacino for
Danny Collins and
Mark Ruffalo for
Infinitely Polar Bear. And finally, nominations for
Best Animated Feature went to
Anomalisa,
The Good Dinosaur,
Inside Out,
The Peanuts Movie and
Shaun the Sheep Movie. This year’s Golden Globe Awards will mark the return of
Ricky Gervais as host and will be handed out live on Sunday,
