The Crazies may refer to:
1973 (MCMLXXIII) was a common year starting on Monday (dominical letter G) of the Gregorian calendar, the 1973rd year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 973rd year of the 2nd millennium, the 73rd year of the 20th century, and the 4th year of the 1970s decade.
George Andrew Romero (/rəˈmɛroʊ/; born February 4, 1940) is an American-Canadian filmmaker and editor, best known for his series of gruesome and satirical horror films about a hypothetical zombie apocalypse, beginning with Night of the Living Dead (1968).
Romero was born in the New York City borough of The Bronx, to a Cuban-born father and a Lithuanian American mother. His father has been reported as born in A Coruña, with his family coming from the Galician town of Neda, although Romero once described his father as of Castilian descent. His father worked as a commercial artist. Romero was raised in the Bronx, and would frequently ride the subway into Manhattan to rent film reels to view at his house.
Romero attended Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University. After graduating in 1960, he began his career shooting short films and commercials. One of his early commercial films was a segment for Mister Rogers' Neighborhood in which Mr. Rogers underwent a tonsillectomy. He, along with nine friends, formed Image Ten Productions in the late 1960s, and produced Night of the Living Dead (1968). The movie, directed by Romero and co-written with John A. Russo, became a cult classic and a defining moment for modern horror cinema.
Video Classics was one of the first major Home Video Distributors in Australia.
Between 1979 and 1984, Video Classics was one of the leading names in Australian home video and claimed to have "Australia's largest range of quality video movies".
At first the different video formats that Video Classics advertised they duplicated was definitive of the formats on the market at the time, which included VHS, Betamax, Phillips, Grundig and U-matic, whether or not they actually duplicated onto any formats other than VHS or Beta is questionable though, By 1981 their advertising had reduced the list to just VHS and Beta.
Video Classics both rented their tapes and sold them with Prices that started at $69.95 (which was lowered to $49.95 by 1981) for sale, or rental prices being $9.90 overnight, $14.90 per week and $40 for three tapes per month.
In Addition to their own library of tapes, Video Classics also distributed tapes for other video labels including The Nostalgia Merchant, Sports World Cinema, VCL, Media, Electric Blue, Wizard Video, Movies at Midnight, and Filmways.

The military attempts to contain a manmade combat virus that causes death and permanent insanity in those infected, as it overtakes a small Pennsylvania town.
Here are my favourite scenes from 'The Crazies' by master Romero ! The american army suddenly disrupts the harmony of Evans city's inhabitants without dicsernment, causing panic and destruction (but these, the soldiers, are parasites and they contaminate the whole town) . The second part of this video puts forward the revenge of the nuclear family (nota bene: the young blue-eyed girl sees her father dying before her eyes but goes on playing her recital while, in the meantime, the soldiers besiege the famlilial bastion).

Original vs Remake of ‘The Crazies’. The original was co-written and then directed by George Romero in 1973 and is rated 53% (rotten) on Rotten Tomatoes, whilst the remake (2010) is rated 71% (fresh). So, what makes the remake better than the original? Script? Acting? Direction? FX? Please join me and my guests, Jonathan, Filip and Paul as we discuss these films.

A plane crashes into a small town's reservoir, accidentally spreading a biological weapon called TRIXIE among the town's population. If the virus doesn't kill you, it makes you insane. The uninfected must not only survive The Crazies, but also dodge military forces who want to contain the outbreak by any means necessary. But no virus can stand up to Invasion of the Remake scrutiny. This week we discuss George A. Romero's original film The Crazies (1973) starring Lane Caroll, Will MacMillan, Harold Wayne Jones, Lloyd Hollar and Lynn Lowery and see how the remake (2010) by director Breck Eisner holds up. With an all star cast of Radha Mitchell, Timothy Olyphant, Joe Anderson, and Danielle Panabaker it certainly is off to a good start. Can we sort this out, or are we crazy for even trying...

If this is true, I thought then, what will I think
Will I stay but rather I would get away
I'm scared that I won't find a thing
And afraid that I'll turn out to be alone, but I
I have to learn, have to try, have to trust I have to cry
Have to see, have to know that I can be myself
And if I could I would stay
And if they're not, not in my way
I'll stare here in the distance
But I'll grow up to be just like you, yeah
I'll grow up to be just like you, yeah
I see it all I'm sure but
Do I know what's right
I thought I knew but it turns out the other way
I am scared that I won't find a thing
And afraid that I'll turn out to be alone, but I
I have to learn, have to try, have to trust I have to cry
I have to see, have to know that I can be myself
And if I could I would stay
And if they're not, not in my way
I'll stare here in the distance
But I'll grow up to be just like you, yeah
I'll grow up to be just like you
I want to tell you
Why would I try to
You are all that I can see now
Why would I try to
And I want to tell you
Why would I try to
You are all I can see now
I know I'll try to
I have to learn, have to try, have to trust I have to cry
I have to see, have to know that I can be myself
But if I could, yeah, I would stay
And if they're not, not in my way
I'll stare here in the distance
But I'll grow up to be just like you, yeah
I'll grow up to be just like you, like you
