Animal welfare investigators are searching for the person responsible for leaving two dozen dead cats crammed into cages in an Oklahoma City field on June 10, OKCFox News reported June 15. The cages were reportedly discovered in the tall grass near a road, and officers believe that they were thrown from a vehicle while the cats were still alive. It's believed the cats were in the field about a week....

It is like an employment agency for cats where farmers and rural property owners with land and barns who need rodent control are able to adopt cats without fees to work on their farms. It is a permanent adoption and the cats go to work ridding the barns of rodents ... cat population in their area. This program has saved the lives of more than 1,700 cats....

Pain relief for cats? There are some options

In a recent column you wrote about how hard it is to tell whether or not cats are in pain ... My cat Bogie suffers from arthritis, and our veterinarian says there’s nothing more to be done for him short of a hip replacement, which I’ve decided against. I’m shocked that there are so many options to treat pain in dogs but none for cats ... It’s true that there are no pain medications approved for long-term use in cats....
