Lego DUPLO is large in scale, easy to set up and had amazing playability because it's Lego. The trains are easily made into different designs and when running need to be managed with fuel stops for educational learning. There are features in this toy train system that you will not find in any others. But when it comes to playing with the most popular styles of toy trains that's when this very different railway and this toy train starts to fall apart. Basically Lego DUPLO loves to play with Lego DUPLO and nothing else (apart from standard Lego bricks). To my utter surprise the Lego City train system has no cross compatibility with Lego DUPLO train. I introduce onto the real Lego DUPLO train set a knock off (Dark Side) DUPLO Thomas The Tank. Then all sorts of confusion and delay start to happen as the trains start crashing and having accidents. Don't worry the DUPLO Goat will fly through the air just like Goat Simulator and save the day. I also take a quick look at the learn to count Lego Duplo train and see how it works on DUPLO track. Sadly there is a pinch point on the points, weird to see this problem happening. Lego DUPLO trains are not cheap, but they do make a early learning toy train like no other. My advice is don't buy just one set, buy many and try to get these toys when they are on special as I did.
