He is best known for producing music videos for high-profile recording artists such as Beyonce, One Direction, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Drake, Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z and commercials and branded content for Microsoft, Nike Inc., Beats By Dre, Sony Vaio, Ferrari and Reebok. Perhaps best known stateside for his work on Handmaid’s Tale, British actor O. T. Fagbenle was gearing up for a pretty major summer, thanks in part to his role in the upcoming Black Widow. While his MCU debut waits in the wings to hit theaters post-pandemic, audiences can see a whole other side of the actor in the raucous new series Maxxx —an import from the U.K.’s Channel 4—premiering today on Hulu. The six-part comedy stars Fagbenle as the titular Maxxx, a former boy band sensation who’s struggling to stake out a solo career after a few too many public meltdowns. To flesh out the world of the show, the star called on his brother, Luti Fagbenle, whose production company Luti Media is behind some of the biggest music videos of the past decade, including Iggy Azaelea and Charli XCX’s “Fancy� and One Direction’s “Best Song Ever.� Together, the siblings created a satire of fame and the music industry that takes Maxxx to some unexpected places, including the front door of The Backstreet Boys’ Kevin Richardson. Earlier this month, The A.V. Club spoke with Fagbenle over Zoom to discuss the journey of the show, including the story of its casting coup: Christopher Meloni as Maxxx’s unhinged manager, Don Wild.

Director, writer and actor O-T Fagbenle is joined by members of the cast and crew of the new comedy hit series Maxxx. Host Rhianna Dillon talks to them about how the series came to be and what audiences can expect from the edgy new Channel 4 show.
Maxxx centres around a formerly famous boyband star played by O-T Fagbenle who tries to make his music come back in a bid to win back his famous Super model ex-girlfriend Jourdan Dunn and prove to the world that he isn’t a washed-up old has-been!
The show offers an outrageous, rude and cringe-inducing peek behind the pop world's curtain, poking fun at the drugs, sex, insecurity and fragile narcissism of those who seek validation and meaning in all the wrong places.
Maxxx has been commissioned for Channel 4 by Fiona McDermott, Head of Comedy, and Jack Bayles, Commissioning Editor. Maxxx is a brand new sitcom that centres around formerly famous boyband star turned drug-shamed tabloid laughing stock Maxxx. He's down, but not out... he's trying to make a comeback to prove to the world - but mostly to his famous supermodel ex-girlfriend - that he's not the massive loser everyone says he is. But with his adopted teenage son, Amit, in serious need of daddy-advice, his cousin-slash-superfan-slash-stalker Rose popping up around every corner, and with most people thinking he's already dead, the journey back to stardom isn't going to be easy. Fagbenle's debut film was the 2006 Channel 4 Documentary 'Nike Midnight Madness' narrated by Trevor Nelson.

While his MCU debut waits in the wings to hit theaters post-pandemic, audiences can see a whole other side of the actor in the raucous new series Maxxx —an import from the U.K.’s Channel 4—premiering today on Hulu. The six-part comedy stars Fagbenle as the titular Maxxx, a former boy band sensation who’s struggling to stake out a solo career after a few too many public meltdowns. To flesh out the world of the show, the star called on his brother, Luti Fagbenle, whose production company Luti Media is behind some of the biggest music videos of the past decade, including Iggy Azaelea and Charli XCX’s “Fancy� and One Direction’s “Best Song Ever.� Together, the siblings created a satire of fame and the music industry that takes Maxxx to some unexpected places, including the front door of The Backstreet Boys’ Kevin Richardson. Maxxx centres around a formerly famous boyband star played by O-T Fagbenle who tries to make his music come back in a bid to win back his famous Super model ex-girlfriend Jourdan Dunn and prove to the world that he isn’t a washed-up old has-been!
The show offers an outrageous, rude and cringe-inducing peek behind the pop world's curtain, poking fun at the drugs, sex, insecurity and fragile narcissism of those who seek validation and meaning in all the wrong places.
Maxxx has been commissioned for Channel 4 by Fiona McDermott, Head of Comedy, and Jack Bayles, Commissioning Editor. Maxxx is a brand new sitcom that centres around formerly famous boyband star turned drug-shamed tabloid laughing stock Maxxx. He's down, but not out... he's trying to make a comeback to prove to the world - but mostly to his famous supermodel ex-girlfriend - that he's not the massive loser everyone says he is. But with his adopted teenage son, Amit, in serious need of daddy-advice, his cousin-slash-superfan-slash-stalker Rose popping up around every corner, and with most people thinking he's already dead, the journey back to stardom isn't going to be easy. Enter Tamzin, with her dreams of becoming an internationally respected manager. But with Maxxx as her only client, she certainly has her work cut out.

Perhaps best known stateside for his work on Handmaid’s Tale, British actor O. T. Fagbenle was gearing up for a pretty major summer, thanks in part to his role in the upcoming Black Widow. While his MCU debut waits in the wings to hit theaters post-pandemic, audiences can see a whole other side of the actor in the raucous new series Maxxx —an import from the U.K.’s Channel 4—premiering today on Hulu. The six-part comedy stars Fagbenle as the titular Maxxx, a former boy band sensation who’s struggling to stake out a solo career after a few too many public meltdowns. To flesh out the world of the show, the star called on his brother, Luti Fagbenle, whose production company Luti Media is behind some of the biggest music videos of the past decade, including Iggy Azaelea and Charli XCX’s “Fancy� and One Direction’s “Best Song Ever.� Together, the siblings created a satire of fame and the music industry that takes Maxxx to some unexpected places, including the front door of The Backstreet Boys’ Kevin Richardson. Earlier this month, The A.V. Club spoke with Fagbenle over Zoom to discuss the journey of the show, including the story of its casting coup: Christopher Meloni as Maxxx’s unhinged manager, Don Wild.

Maxxx will have its UK premiere on Channel 4 on Thursday October 29th at 10pm
Maxxx is a brand new sitcom that centres around formerly famous boyband star turned drug-shamed tabloid laughing stock Maxxx. He's down, but not out... he's trying to make a comeback to prove to the world - but mostly to his famous supermodel ex-girlfriend - that he's not the massive loser everyone says he is. But with his adopted teenage son, Amit, in serious need of daddy-advice, his cousin-slash-superfan-slash-stalker Rose popping up around every corner, and with most people thinking he's already dead, the journey back to stardom isn't going to be easy. Enter Tamzin, with her dreams of becoming an internationally respected manager. But with Maxxx as her only client, she certainly has her work cut out.
Maxxx offers an outrageous, rude and cringe-inducing peek behind the pop world's curtain at the drugs, sex, insecurity and fragile narcissism of those who seek validation and meaning in all the wrong places.

Luti Fagbenle
Oladoke Lutiseku Mobolaji (Luti) Fagbenle is a BAFTA-nominated film producer and entrepreneur. He is best known for producing music videos for high-profile recording artists such as One Direction, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Iggy Azalea, Snoop Dogg and Rita Ora and commercials and branded content for Microsoft, Nike Inc., Beats By Dre, Sony Vaio, Ferrari and Reebok. He is also well known for his performances as Ali Taylor in popular soap opera Hollyoaks. Luti is a frequent collaborator with high-profile international directors such as Colin Tilley, Director X, Anthony Mandler, Kanye West, Ray Kay, Marc Klasfeld and others.
Career
In 2006 Luti founded the production company Luti Media. The company has produced hundreds of music videos, commercials and films. Their work has been honoured with nominations and awards from the MTV VMAs, BAFTA, The MOBO Awards, Virgin Media Shorts, the UKMVAs and others.
Fagbenle's debut film was the 2006 Channel 4 Documentary 'Nike Midnight Madness' narrated by Trevor Nelson.
