California Assembly Bill 109, the Public Safety Realignment Act of 2011, resulted in the early release of thousands of state prisoners. Part one of this two-part episode showcases County departments working together to ensure public safety, help these Parolees find work and other resources, and to help them avoid re-offending. In this episode you’ll meet Kern County Sheriff, Donnie Youngblood, and talk to Chief Deputy, Shelly Castaneda. We’ll go inside Lerdo Jail and get the inside story from Detention Lieutenant Ian Silva. You will also hear success stories from some of the program participants.
