On 22 May 2016, Australia and the Philippines celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations. Although our people-to-people links go back much further, the official start of the bilateral relationship can be traced back to the opening of the Australian Consulate in Manila on 22 May 1946.Therelationship has grown to encompass education, development and humanitarian assistance, trade and investment, defence and law enforcement cooperation.
