Synopsis:
Betala begins to narrate one of his puzzling tales to Vikramaditya which is the story of Naanu(Upendra), an ego-driven selfish rogue and the three women in his life. Upendra hates hypocrisy and always speaks the truth. In the process, he exposes the truth behind everything.
A young woman Rathi (Damini) comes to know her father's hatred towards her in this process and falls in love with Upendra. This angers Keerthi(Raveena Tandon) who orders her guardian's son to attack Upendra. They bring a woman Swathi(Prema), who lives in his house and torture her. He comes to know Prema is his wife. Story:
A is a 1998 Indian Kannada language blockbuster psychological love story film written and directed by Upendra. It starred Upendra and Chandni as the lead couple. It was about an unusual love story between a film director and an actress which was narrated through multiple flashbacks within flashbacks and reverse screenplay. The film dealt with various dark truths of film world like the casting couch. Due to the reverse screenplay, the audience were forced to watch it multiple times to understand the story. The movie generated a lot of attention, which began with its rather unusual name. Then there was the subject matter, which dealt with the love affair between a director and his heroine and the dreaded casting couch. The movie discovered human emotions through a different dimension and showed how emotions change with circumstances.

Romantic Scene from the Movie *ing Upendra, Prema
Plot Summary:
The hero (Upendra), who has been exposed to the sordid side of life right from childhood, becomes a law unto himself, feared and rebuked by all. He calls himself ‘Nanu’, meaning ‘I’. ‘Nanu’ is proud to be a straight-forward, frank human being, who does not hide his feelings, even the unsavoury ones. So the rest of the world, in his eyes, is hypocritical.
A teenaged girl (Damini) falls in love with ‘Nanu’ after understanding what a nice person he is, only to realise that he wants to marry a filthy rich girl (Raveena Tandon) just to lead a luxurious life. ‘Nanu’ pursues his rich prey relentlessly, which leads to bloody fights and deaths ultimately. In between, both girls find our that ‘Nanu’ is a much-married man. Nanu’s logic in wanting all the three women, is madness personified. In his bid to own these women, he not only shows total disregard for their feelings but gets into a vortex from which it appears he cannot extricate himself. (TH)

Gokarna is a 2003 Kannada film starring Superstar Upendra and Rakshita. The film was directed by Naganna and was Upendra's home production, made under his banner of Anegudda Vinayaka Productions
Music for the film was scored by Gurukiran. It is the second among a series of successful films under Upendra - Naganna combination. The film also starred Madhu Bangarappa, Tennis Krishna, S.Ramesh, Satyajit, Dr.Nagesh, and Indhudhar in supporting roles.
The film is a remake of the 1992 Tamil film Annamalai starring Rajinikanth, which in turn was a remake of Rakesh Roshan's Hindi movie Khudgarz. The film was followed by yet another successful film under Upendra - Naganna combination, Gowramma in 2005.

After the huge success of the previous film under Upendra - Naganna combination Kutumba, producer of the film Shailendra Babu had announced that his next film would be titled as Jai Ganesha having the same film troupe. But the film could not take off due to conflict between Shailendra Babu and Upendra. Upendra then gathered the same team of Kutumba (except the producer) and decided to remake the 1992 Rajinikanth starrer Annamalai under his home banner Anegudda Vinayaka Productions.
The audio release function was held at The Club, Bangalore. Actor, politician Ambarish released the audio cassettes and CD's. The event was followed by the ramp show and dance program performed by a local dance troupe. Two songs from the film were screened for the media
Although Gokarna turned out to be a safe bet at the box office, it was not as successful as the previous film under Upendra - Naganna combination, Kutumba. However, Gokarna was a good money spinner at the box office and completed 175 days of successful run in Bangalore.The film was followed by yet another successful film under Upendra - Naganna combination, Gowramma in 2005.
Gurukiran scored the music for the film while Upendra and Kaviraj penned the lyrics

Upendra, (popularly also called Uppi) is a Kannada film actor, director, screen writer, lyricist and singer. He is recognised as an established Superstar actor and director of the Kannada film Industry. Born in a middle class family at Koteshwara near Kundapura, he belongs to Tulu speaking Koteshwara Magane Madhwa Brahmin community. Upendra started his career under the director Kashinath as a writer and an assistant director. His first directorial venture was Tharle Nan Maga.
In the late 90s he broke into the scene with the extremely violent Om, which portrayed actual Bangalore gangsters, and this movie is still not yet released in CDs, DVDs and Satellite Rights. He followed this up with A, in which he appeared as Surya. Upendra, his next film, starred Raveena Tandon, a Bollywood actress. After a decade of acting in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil films, he returned to the role of director with the multi-lingual movie Super, which was well-received critically and commercially.
Throughout his career as a director, he has directed many record breaking blockbusters such as Tharle Nan Maga, Shhh!, Om, A, Upendra and Super. His directional movies like A, Swasthik, Upendra and Super resembles the neo-noir film genre where he narrates the story through reverse screenplay and multiple number of flashbacks within flashbacks and thus forces the audience to watch the film multiple number of times to understand the story.

Romantic Scene from the Movie *ing Upendra, Prema Plot Summary: The hero (Upendra), who has been exposed to the sordid side of life right from childhood, becomes a law unto himself, feared and rebuked by all. He calls himself ‘Nanu’, meaning ‘I’. ‘Nanu’ is proud to be a straight-forward, frank human being, who does not hide his feelings, even the unsavoury ones. So the rest of the world, in his eyes, is hypocritical. A teenaged girl (Damini) falls in love with ‘Nanu’ after understanding what a nice person he is, only to realise that he wants to marry a filthy rich girl (Raveena Tandon) just to lead a luxurious life. ‘Nanu’ pursues his rich prey relentlessly, which leads to bloody fights and deaths ultimately. In between, both girls find our that ‘Nanu’ is a much-married man. Nanu’s logic in wanting all the three women, is madness personified. In his bid to own these women, he not only shows total disregard for their feelings but gets into a vortex from which it appears he cannot extricate himself. Gokarna is a 2003 Kannada film starring Superstar Upendra and Rakshita. Synopsis:

Plot Summary:
The hero (Upendra), who has been exposed to the sordid side of life right from childhood, becomes a law unto himself, feared and rebuked by all. He calls himself ‘Nanu’, meaning ‘I’. ‘Nanu’ is proud to be a straight-forward, frank human being, who does not hide his feelings, even the unsavoury ones. So the rest of the world, in his eyes, is hypocritical.
A teenaged girl (Damini) falls in love with ‘Nanu’ after understanding what a nice person he is, only to realise that he wants to marry a filthy rich girl (Raveena Tandon) just to lead a luxurious life. ‘Nanu’ pursues his rich prey relentlessly, which leads to bloody fights and deaths ultimately. In between, both girls find our that ‘Nanu’ is a much-married man. Nanu’s logic in wanting all the three women, is madness personified. In his bid to own these women, he not only shows total disregard for their feelings but gets into a vortex from which it appears he cannot extricate himself. (TH)

Plot Summary:
The hero (Upendra), who has been exposed to the sordid side of life right from childhood, becomes a law unto himself, feared and rebuked by all. He calls himself ‘Nanu’, meaning ‘I’. ‘Nanu’ is proud to be a straight-forward, frank human being, who does not hide his feelings, even the unsavoury ones. So the rest of the world, in his eyes, is hypocritical.
A teenaged girl (Damini) falls in love with ‘Nanu’ after understanding what a nice person he is, only to realise that he wants to marry a filthy rich girl (Raveena Tandon) just to lead a luxurious life. ‘Nanu’ pursues his rich prey relentlessly, which leads to bloody fights and deaths ultimately. In between, both girls find our that ‘Nanu’ is a much-married man. Nanu’s logic in wanting all the three women, is madness personified. In his bid to own these women, he not only shows total disregard for their feelings but gets into a vortex from which it appears he cannot extricate himself. (TH)

Gokarna is a 2003 Kannada film starring Superstar Upendra and Rakshita. The film was directed by Naganna and was Upendra's home production, made under his banner of Anegudda Vinayaka Productions
Music for the film was scored by Gurukiran. It is the second among a series of successful films under Upendra - Naganna combination. The film also starred Madhu Bangarappa, Tennis Krishna, S.Ramesh, Satyajit, Dr.Nagesh, and Indhudhar in supporting roles.
The film is a remake of the 1992 Tamil film Annamalai starring Rajinikanth, which in turn was a remake of Rakesh Roshan's Hindi movie Khudgarz. The film was followed by yet another successful film under Upendra - Naganna combination, Gowramma in 2005.

After the huge success of the previous film under Upendra - Naganna combination Kutumba, producer of the film Shailendra Babu had announced that his next film would be titled as Jai Ganesha having the same film troupe. But the film could not take off due to conflict between Shailendra Babu and Upendra. Upendra then gathered the same team of Kutumba (except the producer) and decided to remake the 1992 Rajinikanth starrer Annamalai under his home banner Anegudda Vinayaka Productions.
The audio release function was held at The Club, Bangalore. Actor, politician Ambarish released the audio cassettes and CD's. The event was followed by the ramp show and dance program performed by a local dance troupe. Two songs from the film were screened for the media
Although Gokarna turned out to be a safe bet at the box office, it was not as successful as the previous film under Upendra - Naganna combination, Kutumba. However, Gokarna was a good money spinner at the box office and completed 175 days of successful run in Bangalore.The film was followed by yet another successful film under Upendra - Naganna combination, Gowramma in 2005.
Gurukiran scored the music for the film while Upendra and Kaviraj penned the lyrics

Synopsis:
Betala begins to narrate one of his puzzling tales to Vikramaditya which is the story of Naanu(Upendra), an ego-driven selfish rogue and the three women in his life. Upendra hates hypocrisy and always speaks the truth. In the process, he exposes the truth behind everything.
A young woman Rathi (Damini) comes to know her father's hatred towards her in this process and falls in love with Upendra. This angers Keerthi(Raveena Tandon) who orders her guardian's son to attack Upendra. They bring a woman Swathi(Prema), who lives in his house and torture her. He comes to know Prema is his wife.
