Jimmy Blanka (ブランカ, Buranka?) is a video game character from the Street Fighter series of fighting games. Blanka is depicted as a feral savage, with green skin and long orange hair, resembling a monster more than a human. He is one of the original eight characters featured in the first version of the Street Fighter II games.
Designed by Akira Yasuda, the concept behind Blanka was conceived early on, appearing in an early design document as an African man named "Anabebe" who was raised by a lion. After the release of Final Fight, Capcom approached the concept of Street Fighter II once more, and considered several designs for such a character, first one based on masked wrestler modeled after Tiger Mask and a later ninja-inspired appearance. The design later changed to a large man with thick hair and sideburns named "Hammer Blanka", before eventually becoming Blanka.
Blanka's first appearance in the Street Fighter series was in Street Fighter II. In his Street Fighter II ending, he reunites with his mother Samantha, who recognizes him from the anklet he wears. She reveals that Blanka was once known as Jimmy, before he was in a plane crash as a little boy. This crash caused him to be raised in the wild, although he has connections to a local village. Ever since the crash, Blanka/Jimmy had been separated from his mother.

4) What are your hobbies? Skateboarding, Video Games, Hanging out with my gf, and playing Blanka of course :3
5) Whats your top 3 Main characters in SF? Blanka is probably my only competitively sound main, and the only character you will ever see my use in tournement. Other than that my Honda, and Sakura are my best "Alts"
6) How long do you practice per day/been playing SF? I usually practice about 2-3 hours a day...maybe even more if time allows me to. I can go up to about 5 or 6 hours a day sometimes. Also, ive came into playing this game relatively late. Ive been playing SF4 since 2011.
7) Who is your favorite player/look up to in the FGC that also uses your main? Honestly, i dont look up to any other blanka players, not because i think im the best or anything, but just because i have yet to see someone play similiar to my style of blanka. I just respect Nishikin and Coach Steve a lot though.
8) Do you participate in local tourneys? if so, which was the most memorable? Down here in south texas there is no fighting game activity whatsoever as far as competitive scenes and tournaments. My only way to practice is online or traveling. I do tend to travel a bit. My most memorable moments is my top 64 at evo 2013 and my top 8 at KIT just recently this year.
9) Are you a Pad or Arcade stick player and why? When i first started i was a pad player. Eventually moved to Stick just because i saw that it was very difficult to get blankas electricity out consistently with pad. Ever since i firmly believe that to play blanka correctly you NEED to play on stick, and you NEED to learn how to do the piano technique. Electricity is blanka's only "true" tool to win.
10) What is your worst match up and why? ugh....Blanka has a TON of bad matchups. i believe the worst one is now Elena though. but if i had to make a top 3 besides her...Cammy, Fei, and Balrog are all pretty nasty.
11) If you had one word to describe your play style what would it be? Wild
12) Now that Ultra is finally out, what are your thoughts on the changes of your character/s? This is the best version of Blanka ever without a doubt. He just keeps getting better and better. Even with the most recent changes to his c.mk he became just a tad bit stronger.
13) Which version of Street Fighter is more balanced in your opinion, Vanilla SF, AE, AE 2012 or Ultra and why? I never got to play Vanilla, super, or even AE properly. So im going to have to go with Ultra just because i dont feel top tier is as dominant as it used to be. At major tournaments you see a variety of characters winning now.
14) Whats one thing you feel needs to be changed in order for the FGC to go on a major scale? Where players can finally live off Fighting Games. We need to be more professional to the point where it attracts better and bigger sponsors into the community willing to distribute larger quantities of money in tournaments. Also i highly encourage streaming not just tournaments but maybe casuals or just tech kind of like a little show like Ultra Chen...then get that funded.....thats what i believe at least. It cant just be about the tournaments.
15) Whats Next for you? I have my stuff booked for EVO 2015. So thats a for sure. Maaaaaybe Final Round....we'll see!

9) Are you a Pad or Arcade stick player and why? Stick, because I was playing in a time when arcades were still big, and my brother thought it would help us improve if we transitioned from pad to stick. It also makes it easier to play charge characters in my opinion.
10) What is your worst match up and why? Abel, because I can't deal with his mix-up after step-kick or knockdown. I'm always afraid of getting caught by a command grab and being put into another 50/50.
11) If you had one word to describe your play style what would it be? (Soon to be updated)
12) Now that Ultra is finally out, what are your thoughts on the changes of your character/s? I like the changes to Blanka since he has only been getting buffed each version for the most part. I'm glad Rolento was also added since he is one of my favorite SF characters. I would have preferred Twelve from 3s but it's w/e.

1) What is your real name? Cristian
2) Where are you from? Long Island, NY
3) How Old are you? 17
4) What are your hobbies? Playing fighting games, and piano.
5) Whats your top 3 Main characters in SF? Blanka, Rolento, Ibuki
6) How long do you practice per day/been playing SF? Been playing for 9 years, and practice an hour a day.
7) Who is your favorite player/look up to in the FGC that also uses your main? T Srai
8) Do you participate in local tourneys? if so, which was the most memorable? I go to the Xanadu Monthly in Baltimore, MD when I can.
9) Are you a Pad or Arcade stick player and why? Stick, because I was playing in a time when arcades were still big, and my brother thought it would help us improve if we transitioned from pad to stick. It also makes it easier to play charge characters in my opinion.
10) What is your worst match up and why? Abel, because I can't deal with his mix-up after step-kick or knockdown. I'm always afraid of getting caught by a command grab and being put into another 50/50.
11) If you had one word to describe your play style what would it be? (Soon to be updated)
12) Now that Ultra is finally out, what are your thoughts on the changes of your character/s? I like the changes to Blanka since he has only been getting buffed each version for the most part. I'm glad Rolento was also added since he is one of my favorite SF characters. I would have preferred Twelve from 3s but it's w/e.
13) Which version of Street Fighter is more balanced in your opinion, Vanilla SF, AE, AE 2012 or Ultra and why? (Soon to be updated)
14) Whats one thing you feel needs to be changed in order for the FGC to go on a major scale? Where players can finally live off Fighting Games. (Soon to be updated)
15) Whats Next for you? I want to keep practicing, and hopefully win a major.
16) Any shout out you would like to give? Shout-outs to the Long Island scene, the PA scene I currently have offline sessions with, and Bg Laugher.

1)Why the Gamer Tag? The gamer tag comes from the game Armored Core, and I chose it because I needed a tag to enter tournaments with, so I looked through the Mechs and Ravens of the game.
2)What attracted you to (your main/s)? I mained Blanka because many people complained about him in vanilla so I thought he was top-tier...but I was wrong. people still hate the character and thats what I love. And I just think Rolento is a sick character overall.
